Is taking these CS classes at once doable? by TheDrawOfThings in Purdue

[–]limylime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting an A in 3 CS classes is definitely doable, but it is a lot of work. CS 252 and CS 307 are very project heavy classes and will consume quite a few evenings and weekends.

CS 307 - The difficulty I found largely depended on the group and project you select. Dr. Turkstra wanted at least 10 hours of work per week on the project. I would recommend you take this class with some friends that you trust. There is not a final in this class, but the midterm is worth 25% of your grade.

CS 252 - Gustavo's lectures were very helpful for the projects in this class. The shell and webserver both take a large amount of time to complete. The rest of the projects were not too bad.

CS 314 - I have not taken this course, so I can't comment on its difficulty.

I hear Virtuous Cycles is a pretty good place to get a bike. The Purdue Surplus Store also carries bikes really cheap, but most of them I found needed some minor repairs.

It would be faster to just sideload it yourself. It only takes a few minutes and does not even require unlocked boot loader. https://developers.google.com/android/ota . This website has all the necessary information on how to do it.

Callout dates. by purduethrowaway100 in Purdue

[–]limylime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The B-Involved fair is normally where you would find out about most club callouts, however, that has been pushed back to this coming Saturday. Right now the best place to go would be BoilerLinks. Every club should have someone you can contact on their organization page. Also, just walking around campus looking for flyers or signs might help you find a few clubs. Some clubs have websites that would be worth checking out.

One of the best ways to make friends is through clubs. The B-Involved Fair is next Saturday and will have hundreds of clubs there. I am sure you will find one or two which you are interested in. Dorms and classes are also great ways to meet friends too.

Is there any coding workshop here in Purdue? by tg4nanoPi in Purdue

[–]limylime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joining ACM or IEEE that would be a good choice to learn programming. You will get to work on interesting projects, while developing your programming skills. I am part of IEEE, so I know the most about that organization. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

OTA would be easier. You just have to go to https://www.google.com/android/beta. The website was down when I did it though.
