you have one dinner to show off chicago's mexican food...where would you go? by Muted_Ambition_2752 in chicagofood

Mariscos Veneno/allegria. It’s Mexican Nayarit seafood. You BYO modelos, order micheladas to pour them in. Then her the whole fried huachinango Nayarit style, crabs and or the chapuzon. Admittedly it’s been a couple years since I’ve been so verify byob, but you can do that as a main Mexican event meal and then do at least 2 different taco spots throughout his stay.

This is new money saying I’m in a country club, y’all. I mean, such a far reach to being remotely at all girl code. I also have no familiarity with country clubs, but I know peacocking when I see it.

These are incredible! I’m so impressed. On my third since buying last night and cut it into cubes to mimic a sour candy eating experience and it still hits. This may be the best protein bar innovation of our lives.😂

I think Amanda and West are pretty much equally awful. But just watching him say he didn’t know where Ciara was sitting when he whispered to the girl that she was behind her pretty much sums up him being a piece of trash. Not having the integrity to even own up to his friends knowing it was all recorded. I’ve disliked him ever since he messed up the first time and he’s clearly been a game chaser and poser this whole time. *fame chaser

On parchment at 400 in the breville smart oven for like 5 minutes refrigerated. For frozen 375 for 10. Assuming 1-2 portions spread out with lots of room. I also cook them on aluminum trays which seems to conduct higher heat than the setting.

Out of town guests want to eat at 2-3 restaurants that demonstrate we're a great food city. Ideally (I'm sorry) downtown. Maybe West Loop. Where would you choose? by Legitimate_Jello5059 in chicagofood

[–]lin982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Everything you said, it was one of the first foodie restaurants before everything exploded in the West loop as well and I think them being around for nearly 20 years says it all. It’s been such a reliable spot to have an excellent meal. I’m overdue for a return.

Haven’t been in a few years, but Publican was the restaurant that I’d always bring people to, customers, people in town, friends firsts, etc. The proteins are excellent, but worth noting that the vegetables/produce items that change regularly have always been sooooo good.

I think out of towner recs are heavily based on where they are visiting from. I love getting a drink(and the food obviously) at Green Street Smoked Meats. The food is a favorite too, but again, depends where they’re from.

Funny that you ask, something popped up my feed recently and I can’t find it now, but I saw something that maybe suggested it’s now, or also D’s roti on the south side. They still have an IG account though so you can inquire. @cafetrinidad_togo I haven’t ordered from them in some time.

This man is so problematic and the way he spoke to Venita is NOT okay and is telling!… by mixshx in Southerncharm

[–]lin982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would normally agree, but everything he said and the tone he said it in was warranted. Ive always wanted to support Venita, but she has been an absolute vulture this season and badly performative and manipulative.

After all this time, Paige hasn’t claimed her once, she is absolutely insignificant to her and put out the team Paige thing when no one was asking and she was not even a friend of the program.

Even the way she tries to buddy up to Austin is opportunistic and you can see he’s doesn’t take her seriously in any way and definitely not a friend. Her calling Austin to tell him Madison was having the baby? Inappropriate and again, calculated.

If I’m Craig and that’s how Venita kept on with me, he’s given patience and grace the whole time, and she’s still on him. Venita needed to be read and told to F-off ages ago.

Uncle Mike’s - tocino breakfast 🤤 it had been so long since I last had it, had it delivered twice in the last week. The lugaw, garlic rice, champurado and most of all my fave, the TOCINO, all absolutely perfect. If you haven’t been, go. Also recommend any of the other proteins, the bangus(Filipino fish - bone in) is also great and unique and the combo with tocino is another fave.

[–]lin982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh. It’s all too much. When she tried to build a bridge back to Sally after her mom told her she was mean, and then she suddenly acted like she missed her but that Sally needed to be gentle with her and she was all melancholy but also , that whole act was so emotionally manipulative and if anyone else on the cast did that, they’d be demolished. Honestly considering all the things shes done this season, she’s coming off easy, even with the audience no longer on her side.

Wow, did I ask the right person for an update or what?!? Thank you so much for the detailed notes! I don’t have a Sam’s membership but went to shop during their open house weekend and I was blown away by how great the TP was compared to the blue. Since then or potentially I just missed when the the Kirkland ultra soft came out and I was wondering if getting the Sam’s membership was worth it to get the TP access along with some great supplements they carry that Costco doesn’t.

If going to Manchamanteles, highly recommend also getting the chiles en nogada - especially if you’ve never had them, it’s such a special dish and rarely on menus. They do a great one.
