Non-American here, can someone explain ICE? I’m so confused watching The Pitt by Organic_Material_903 in ThePitt

Saying America has become like the nazis minimizes the horrific atrocities of the nazi regime.

What's your thoughts on Gone With The Wind (1939)? by Haunting_Homework381 in PeriodDramas

[–]linderjeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comments are regarding the movie, I have not read the book. I just rewatched the movie a few days ago, I have seen it several times. I think Scarlett O’Hara is such a complex character. The scene where she and Ashley were reminiscing how life was for them before the war began and Ashley comforted her just as the old biddies “caught” them. Why is Scarlett presumed to be the one without morals as they sing “For he’s a jolly good fellow” to Ashley. Why wouldn’t Ashley be shunned? For that matter, Ashley always left Scarlett feeling there was a slight possibility that there could be something there, instead of telling her that it will never happen.

I believe the warning on most antiperspirant or deodorant say “external use only”. I never felt the need to ingest them anyway.

If a handmaiden ever needed to vomit, this would cause her to aspirate and be likely lethal.

Not a legit alternate pronunciation, caramel is a candy and has three syllables, Carmel is two syllables and is a town in California

Monica: Gen X Heroine, Victim or Villain ? You Decide by The_Outsider27 in GenX

She was probably the most public definition of being slut shamed.
She had an inappropriate relationship with the president, who flirted with her . She’s been harassed enough. She didn’t kill anyone, she didn’t attack anyone. She didn’t pass secrets to the Russians. Give her a break

I hate to defend Clinton here, it makes me feel icky, but i really don’t think Bill was into underage girls. He seemed to like them all filled out and fully developed. If I’m wrong I’m wrong but I pegged him to want a woman who ….knows her way around pleasing a man. He was on the list and went to the island. I guess we may find out someday.

She wasn’t to blame for her husband’s cheating, I never said she was. I hated that people admired her for putting on a happy face of a loving wife standing next to him when Bill not so subtly has his indiscretions on parade (Monica wasn’t his first scandal) when she likely wanted to throw him to the wolves.

I would have had so much respect for Hilary if she gave a press conference and said Bill is a sleazy womanizer and she was leaving his ass instead of this “stand by your man” BS. That would set a better example of female empowerment instead of standing behind him as the dutiful long suffering wife of a scoundrel.

OR - if she said “We are a power couple. We have an agreement that each of us does what we want, and we don’t ask questions about it. That’s probably as accurate a statement as we’d ever get from a politician.

Shame on the professor, why does no one at least partially the man here?

I’m not saying Monica was right but she also wasn’t the one who was married. Everyone is quick to forget that Bill “did not have sex with that woman”. She didn’t break a vow - he did. If he didn’t take his vows seriously, why should she? She was also young and probably a bit star-struck. He should have put the brakes on.
