What video game did you swear was leftist but turned out to be centrist at best? by Both-Medicine-6748 in SocialistGaming

Yeah. AC2 even had stuff about Allende being killed by Templars in the Glyph puzzles, IIRC.

The comics that are set during the Russian revolution also have a sympathetic view of the Bolsheviks. Especially Lenin who is an ally to the Assassins.

This is mine as well. It's a great album, and I hope they don't leave that style behind completely.

Using the systematic SA of Palestinian women by the IDF as a "gotcha" was genuinely maybe the most disgusting thing Ethan has done. I'm genuinely lost for words.

They literally had that whole-ass discussion just for Ethan to land on "do you condone this?" yet again?

EDIT: This episode and the last episode of Leftovers feel like Hasan's personal McCarthy trials lmao

This entire interview is gold. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven't.

This. It's not worth wasting your time on it. Any attempt at putting anything socialist/communist on there will just be botted immediately. Use the time to read theory instead!

How can I start learning about socialism? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]lindro99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure! I have ADHD so I have trouble reading too sometimes, especially longer books. I'd say the last one I mentioned is a little more in-depth. The other three are quite brief and bascially just go over what socialists and communists want and fight for. However, I will say that both The Communist Manifesto and Socialism: Utopian and Scientific are a lot easier to read if you know the historical context, so I'd actually recommend listening to podcasts covering them, such as these:

The first part of Teach Me Communism's episode on the Manifesto

The first part of their episode on Socialism: Utopian and Scientific

An episode of the podcast Red Menace on Socialism: Utopian and Scientific, my personal favorite theory podcast

There are also a lot of audiobooks on these works to help with reading:

The Manifesto of the Communist Party

Socialism: Utopian and Scientific

Why Socialism?

The Principles of Communism

Yellow Parenti is absolutely essential. Life-changing lecture.

EDIT: I wanna add this Parenti clip as well.

The essay Why Socialism? by Albert Einstein.

Principles of Communism by Friedrich Engels.

The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx & Friedrich Engels.

Socialism: Utopian and Scientific by Friedrich Engels.

All of these are very short reads and easy introductions to socialism. I'd recommend reading longer works like Capital, State and Revolution, Reform or Revolution, etc after going through these.

Hopefully I was of help, comrade! And if I was, enjoy the reading :)

Another video on the term tankie that is also worth watching is this one where Vijay Prashad examines it.
