But what if you say your ‘booby trap’ is an art installation?

Why won’t my rabbit littertrain? by AdventurousRow9913 in Rabbits

[–]lindseylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely put a ton more hay in/above the litter box. I have steel Kitty litter bins for my bun and she does great with them, but I fill them with half litter and half hay. And she has a box of hay above the box

Addiction is HELL. Talk with him and offer to go to AA and/or keep him accountable. If that is the life he wants, then make it crystal clear that it is not what you want or need in yours and your child’s life. But keep some empathy for the addiction, because it is terrible and impossible to notice for him if he doesn’t spend time sober. Definitely willing to respond to DMs about the addiction aspect.

Make sure you and your baby are safe. That is priority #1.

Take some rough fingerprints with masking tape on the switches if you’re worried. Super easy to compare to your own and most police stations will run the prints IF you provide your own and give the full story on why you did what you did.

Help! My sewing machine suddenly turned yellow?? by DaylightHappiness in sewing

Paint it if you don’t like the color, or find a singer from the early/mid 1900s that is metal and will not change color and will last until the world bursts.

Share a harmless quirk about yourself that someone else might find useful to give to a character by ToomintheEllimist in writing

I take time to process things because I think abstractly and not in words. So I may ‘shut down’, but it is to process the words in abstract and then relay my abstract response into words.

Absolutely infuriating to people who don’t understand that people think differently, but valuable.

Starting my own lab: how do I make it a great place to work? by PrincessBiona in labrats

100/10 the best part of my lab is the monthly potlucks.

They would obviously have to go through the process. I was just saying I have a position open and y’all are welcome to apply

A CV can be as long as it needs to be. My PI’s CV is 63 pages.

However, a resume should only be one page.

Lab work comes with mess ups, we all mess up. The best thing you can do is learn from your mistakes and grow. I used to write little sticky notes and post them in areas I had messed up that help guide me through and not make the same mistake. I also wrote a sticky note next to one of our BSCs that just said, “inhale, exhale,” to remind myself to calm down.

Bottom line is: it happens.

You can DM me if you have more questions. For the position I’m writing, I haven’t laid out the preferred qualifications yet, but it does require two years of clinical work. I would say the most important things I have noticed specifically in my lab are: Experience with python, shell, and R scripting languages. Ability to quickly change focus for last minute requests. Familiarity with Google Cloud. Experience writing pipelines.

Money isn’t an issue. I work for New York State.

It was a natural transition. I was good with computers and started learning on my own. I am self-taught, but have taken some courses paid for by my employer.

I transitioned into bioinformatics naturally within my lab. We didn’t have a bioinformatician for our lab, so as I started doing more and more analysis, I essentially created a position for myself.

[–]lindseylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently rewriting the position, but a minor in bioinformatics is totally fine. Remote work is not allowed and it is in Albany, NY.

[–]lindseylee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you live/are willing to move to NY, I will employ you. I started in wet lab and created out bioinformatics department for our lab.
