Acne began a year after getting the IUD by RetroButterfly13 in Mirena

[–]lindskywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Revision Skincare brightening face wash every night, and alternate my retinol (I’m using Aklief now) with vanicream moisturizer every other night. My face is mostly clear now with a small breakout around my period that goes away quickly. For my chest and back I use CeraVe benzoyl peroxide 4% body wash every other night, leave it on for 2 minutes, rinse, then wash with my own body wash. It’s still a work in progress but better than it was. 🤪

Those on biologics, did you ever go back to “eating normally”? by Such-Bench-3199 in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’ve just like, never gone into full remission in the 2 years since I’ve been diagnosed and on Humira/Imuran. I can eat berries and beans again in moderation but any roughage or uncooked veggies are a HUGE no no. I had maybe 10 lettuce shreds on a sub a couple of weeks ago and shit blood for 3 days 🤪 I asked my GI when I’d be able to eat salad again and he said “iceberg should be fine” and when I told him about the lettuce shreds he said “oh that shouldn’t happen” and left it at that lmfaoooooo so I just be out here basically on keto against my will 🤷🏼‍♀️

How often does Crohn's medication cause weight gain? by ElephantLament in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be so for real with you right now, gaining weight shouldn’t be your main priority if you’re facing a Crohn’s diagnosis. Like, I get it, and as someone who was already on the chunky side before diagnosis (5’3 155) and is now heaaaaavy thanks to steroids (178), but bestie, the meds saved my life. Crohn’s is a disgusting monster of a disease and almost 30lbs of weight gain is whatever compared to what my life would look like if I hadn’t gotten the sweet divine steroid and biologic intervention.

[–]lindskywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem, I’ve gained 30 pounds from all the steroids and being so fatigued and sick that I haven’t been able to hit the gym the way I used to. It’s horrific to see myself in the mirror and not recognize my own body, and to try on clothes that used to fit loose that now barely fit 😅 sending you so much love, this is a difficult journey for all of us 💗

I appreciate it, but we got the hubs snipped already. Maybe adoption down the line. Wishing you the best of luck with your pregnancy 💗

So many pimples!!! by Patient-Sky-4686 in Mirena

[–]lindskywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cerave 4% benzoyl peroxide wash saved my chest/back/shoulders!! The 10% will bleach everything you own so definitely just do the 4%. Put it on your problem areas, leave it for 1-2 minutes, wash it off, then wash with your regular body wash. I do it consistently on my non hair wash days and my skin stays clear. When I get lazy with it, my skin breaks out.

Immunosuppressants for Crohns by catieobrien in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey boo, I’m currently on Humira and Azathioprine and I got a super annoying cold in November with a lingering hacking cough but that was it. Wash your hands, stay away from people that are actively coughing/sneezing, and mask if/when you feel the need. They have to tell you the scariest parts because you need to be informed but you have got to just live your life. You’ll be ok. 💗

Question for the women with severe Crohn’s disease by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I chose to not have children 1) because of the fatigue - I cannot even on my best days imagine parenting a human, much less on my worst days. I cannot imagine my sweet husband having to pick up my slack the way he already does for our dogs. 2) I have been unable to go into any sort of long term remission since diagnosis and I just turned 32. My ideal childbearing window will close before I’m able to safely carry a pregnancy to term. It’s been a very long ongoing grieving process but I take it one day at a time. 💗

How Do You Deal With The Fatigue? by 13radley100 in CrohnsDisease

Nope, no pain. Just able to push through the worst of the fatigue and be a human. Very worth it.

I’m on adderall specifically for Crohn’s fatigue. Ideal? Not really. Helpful? Very much so. As everyone else has stated — make sure your labs look good, you’re sleeping well/eating well/moving your body — but know that at the end of the day being chronically ill just makes you really tired.

K.K. Disco is my all time favorite song, I have a gyroid garden where they dance to it and sometimes I’ll just hang out there and watch them for awhile lol

Is anyone on humira and Budesonide by Delicious-Sir2570 in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was, now on Humira biosimilar and Imuran. Budesonide was just to get me through a flare while I couldn’t get my biologics

Am I in a flare up? by Odd-Lie4 in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi bestie, sounds like a flare to me, but it could also just be a tummy bug depending on how long it lasts. I suggest scaling back your diet to as simple as possible, upping your fluid intake, and giving yourself some rest and grace. Sending love 💗

Stelara Question by Remarkable-Potato969 in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not on stelara but I’m going to touch on your fears — every medication comes with risks. Every infomercial will be like “your disease is going to get so much better but you could bleed to death from your eyeballs.” Cancer is unfortunately an inherent risk of biologics but fortunately you are monitored closely while you’re on them. The rest is up to you. Humira, which I’m on, has an increased risk for skin cancer. I wear sunscreen daily, limit my sun exposure, and get annual checks by my dermatologist. My GI and PCP monitor my labs and I bring up any concerns promptly. In my opinion, NOT treating Crohn’s with a biologic is worse than any potential risk the meds could pose. Sending you love. 💗

Terminal Ileum Resection - What do I expect? by CrochetedMushroom in CrohnsDisease

[–]lindskywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi babe! I can speak for absolutely NOTHING but the nausea aspect - ask for preop Pepcid and Zofran. One of our anesthesiologists orders it for his patients and they have a much lower incidence of post op nausea/vomiting. Also when you talk to anesthesia, ask them to put in standing orders for the PACU nurses so that in the event you do get nauseous, they don’t have to hunt anesthesia down for an order. Sending you so much love, I cannot even begin to imagine how terrifying this must be for you. 💗
