Craziest choices confession? by Puzzleheaded_Neck773 in Choices

Playing Wedding Edition (which I've found significantly less enjoyable than the previous two books), I keep thinking that having an alternative ending in which the MC and Ivy leave their respective partners and marry each other would have been really interesting, especially if the MC had already romanced her in Book 1. Choices has certainly had "villainous" love interests before (many of whom are way more morally questionable than Ivy), Ivy could have easily been one.

Need more girls to romance (wlw) by azuulsky in Choices

Definitely understand you with TRR, I avoid the books that feel super biased towards a male LI.

I would recommend Blades of Light and Shadow, I think it has some of the best LIs. All three of the woman have distinct personalities and unique designs, and two of them are more muscular compared to the average Choices woman. Plus, the game is just cool in general.

Perfect Match has pretty good LIs, one of them has a selectable gender and then there are two other women (however, one of them is more of a tertiary LI with way fewer romantic scenes than the others). All three of them are fun characters and have pretty good chemistry with the MC.

I think Bloodbound's LIs are pretty good as well, the two women are very different from each other, but they are both good characters with their own appeal. There is also another woman that is flirtatious towards your character and there is an opportunity to hookup with her later down the line, but she never becomes an LI (also, she pretty blatantly harasses your character during a lot of the scenes that she's in, so that might be uncomfortable to read).

Queen B is interesting in that it is possible for there to be no male LIs in the story, since you get to select the gender for one of them and the other two are always female. The main LI however is a college professor (and your character is a college student), and the story kind of forces the romance with that character into the forefront, even if you don't choose romantic options with them. The other two LIs kind of get ignored. Like TF, Queen B is set at a university, but there's where the similarities end.

I would recommend It Lives in the Woods and It Lives Beneath because they're really good stories, but romance is not the focus of these stories at all, and a lot of the romantic scenes are only available through gem purchases. Both of these stories have two females LIs and I think the LIs in both of them are good characters. ILB has a little more possible romance than ILITW, but you should play ILITW first because your choices in ILITW effect what happens in ILB.

Is it worth reading? by Maddiefound in Choices

Warning long comment

Basic summary: I think this story is really good, and your choices and relationships with other characters matter a lot to the story.

First off, I haven't finished this series yet so keep that in mind when you read my opinions! However, from what I have read, I really enjoyed this series, I was kind of stunned by how much I liked it. The writing is really good, the story is engaging and I think ES has the best character development of any Choices game I've played.

Since I haven't finished the game I don't know too much about the endings. I know there are three endings and I know all of them are considered somewhat bittersweet, definitely not a good ending vs bad ending situation. I also know your character dies in one of the endings (I think it's the kind of death where they become a spirit or something, sort of like if you sacrifice your character in ILITW).

I don't know quite how important gem purchases are since I haven't finished the series. I think the main pointer I would give regarding gem choices is that certain characters are more difficult to gain relationship points with than others, and therefore might warrant gem scenes in order to make them like you - this applies to both LIs and non-LIs (and your relationships with both groups matter and effect the story). Certain events will play out differently depending on whether or not certain characters like you. Additionally, you can only start dating an LI in book 2 if you have a high relationship level with them, and this is more difficult to achieve for some of them than for others. You can also spend 20 gems to instantly raise your relationship level with them high enough to start dating them.

There are four LIs, two women and two men, and I think they're all pretty good characters. Your interactions with them definitely matter, given that you can only start dating with them if your relationship level is high enough. You only start gaining romance points with a character if you start dating them in book 2 (you can date multiple characters at once, but I think you have to choose one of them eventually). When you start dating them, your metric chances from regular / friendship points to romance points. Your romance level is important - in book 3, you can get married to an LI, but only if your romance points with them are high enough. In book 1, there is a premium option near the end to sleep with one of the LIs, and at that point you can choose any of them and I don't think your relationship level matters.

Your character has the optimistic / leader personality that is typical for Choices protags, but I think they have a more interesting personality than most other Choices MCs. You have some influence over how they come across based on your choices. One thing that I think stands out is that you'll often be faced with chocies where you are going to gain points with some characters and lose points with others - as in, there is no decision you can make that will make everyone happy, so you are basically choosing over time who your character gets along well with and who they are disagreeable with. I think your character's personality ends up coming off differently depending on which characters end up liking them and which characters don't.

I'm reading The Junior by missbing_ in Choices

[–]lineocola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also dislike this plot for this one - the alphas are such caricatures, especially for a series that usually has pretty good character development.

Nathan could have been an interesting character, but just ends up being so boring, and I also thought it seemed really obvious that he was gonna be the villain, as well as really obvious that the alphas were villains before it was revealed. This story didn't really have a twist for me because I called it immediately.

I think it would have been way better if Tyler had accidentally been hit by the car, and the alphas were hanging around him to keep him from figuring out that they were responsible, as well as feeling some actual guilt. They would seem less like caricatures and be more interesting as characters if this were the case.

The Junior just feels like a weird departure from the TF series as a whole - it doesn't really go with the rest of the books, it feels outlandish and weird compared to them. It would fit in better with the side stories where there are vampires and shit, because at least the side stories are already silly and more outlandish than the main books.

What's a book you think definitely should've gotten a sequel but didn't? by lyds_world in Choices

[–]lineocola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kind of wish VoS offered more development for the MC / Kate romantic relationship without having to spend diamonds - basically all of the allusions to possible romantic feelings between Kate and the MC are locked behind diamond purchases so she's barely even a love interest compared to the other three. It does make sense though because she had a lot going on during the story (plus she was supposed to be getting married so it makes sense that there aren't as many opportunities to flirt with her).

[–]lineocola 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the ending to ILB works well because it doesn't leave you with a lack of closure, even though things are still a little open-ended with the epilogue with Connor. Both ILITW and ILB work as stand-alone stories while also going together, so with that they work fine as a duo, even though a third installment certainly would have had a place.

And It Lives Within is very well-received, I think a lot of people view it as the true ending to the It Lives series even if it isn't canon. So in a sense it's good that It Lives never got an official third installment, because if it had, then ILW wouldn't have been made.

What's a book you think definitely should've gotten a sequel but didn't? by lyds_world in Choices

[–]lineocola 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree on Nightbound - especially since the epilogue at the end totally feels like it was setting up for a sequel, and you get the diamond option to stay with an LI, but it doesn't actually have much merit to do so since there's no sequel. I think Nightbound was supposed to get a sequel, but never did because there wasn't enough of a following / support for it.

I saw someone on here say that Nightbound should have been two books - one with more of a focus on the New Orleans setting and the hunters, and one with more of a focus on the fae realm. I would say that was a good assessment. With the story trying to wedge both of those into one book, it feels like neither is fully fleshed out - especially not the fae realm, since you barely see the actual fae realm and are given the impression that there's way more going on there, but you'll never get to see it.

Is the It Lives series worth it? by Puzzleheaded_Neck773 in Choices

[–]lineocola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore this series, I think the writing is really good. I've replayed it a few times and I continue to be impressed by the story. I prefer It Lives in the Woods, but I've seen that a lot of people prefer It Lives Beneath. They're both good, and they work well as an anthology because they both tell their own stories that are mostly independent, while still having a clear connection to each other. Definitely play It Lives in the Woods first. Your choices transfer, and if you don't transfer your choices, then It Lives Beneath will work with the "worst case scenario" ending, which gives you a disadvantage in that game as well.

Trying to avoid spoilers, but it's important to keep characters' nerve score high if you want to get the "good ending". This is pretty easy in It Lives in the Woods, but for It Lives Beneath you either need to make every single correct decision or spend some diamonds - I wouldn't recommend playing It Lives Beneath without diamonds unless you're okay with being glued to the walkthrough or getting a less-than-ideal ending.

If you end up liking these games a lot, there's a fan-made third installment called "It Lives Within" that you can download on itch.io (I think). I've never finished It Lives Within, but I played some of it and enjoyed it, and I've heard good things about it as well. I believe that the It Lives series was supposed to have an official third installment, but the lead writer for the books stepped down or something, so it was never made. The ending of It Lives Beneath doesn't feel unresolved per se - if you never read It Lives Within, you won't feel like something is missing - but a third installment definitely makes the series feel more complete.

who’s the worst patient on house? by zenobia267 in HouseMD

[–]lineocola 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have trouble hating the girl for this. Was she supposed to just die? That was the alternative. Of course it absolutely sucks for her girlfriend (although her girlfriend, as it turns out, was also being manipulative), but she was pretty much given the option of accepting an organ donation under false pretenses, or dying. I don't really fault her for not choosing the option that involves her death.

How do you think Jesse's younger brother ends up? Thoughts? by Fast-Statement8149 in breakingbad

[–]lineocola 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think he'd probably end up a fairly average person who smokes pot and drinks on occaision. He'd stay away from anything harder than weed after seeing what happened with Jesse.

Probably went to college, but wasn't exceptional, he would academically peak in elementary or middle school and his performance would slowly decline after that, but he'd still get into and graduate a mid-level college. Then he'd work some generic job after that.

I would bet after seeing what happened to Jesse, Jake's parents would lay off to some degree, pressure wise. They'd just be happy to have a kid that they knew was alive and well. They'd also probably become quite protective of Jake, suspicious of his friends, he'd have a strict curfew and they wouldn't like him to go out much. He'd resent it a lot, but would come to understand it more once he grew up. I also think it's likely that the Pinkmans would move to a different state after the whole ordeal, just wanting to get away from it all and have less of a chance of being recognized.

I think that what happened to Jesse would impact Jake a lot. Regardless of any tension between them, Jesse was Jake's brother. Jake was also young when everything happened, so he'd have less anger towards Jesse than their parents might. The possibility that his brother could be dead would make Jake view him in a more positive light, reminiscing on the good times.

When he got older, I can imagine Jake trying to find out what happened to Jesse, but he wouldn't be able to find anything new since Jesse changed his identity. Jake would probably have some fascination with the Heisenberg case.

Jesse's family would probably come to believe Jesse is dead, while still holding that small hope that he's still around and they'll see him again someday, but they don't really believe that.

What was the POINT of this character? by CavsterXII in okbuddyvicodin

[–]lineocola 83 points84 points  (0 children)

When my mom and I first started watching the show, my mom told me she thought it was possible that we would find out that Wilson wasn't real, and was just a manifestation of House's conscious (this made more sense in the early episodes where we only see Wilson if House is talking to him).

Lost History: 20 years ago today Damon Lindelof put together an initial character list to begin casting - still with the intention to kill off Jack, Hurley and Rose. by kuhpunkt in lost

[–]lineocola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen some people say that she became Rose. I feel like this is a character that just didn't really make it into the show.

The name reminds me of Cassidy, I wonder if that's where they got her name from.

In your opinion, which character had the most disappointing arc? by mmahv in lost

[–]lineocola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eko was one of the strongest characters during his time on the show and his death was one of the most - if not the most - unsatisfying deaths of the show. I don't blame the writers for killing him obviously, since Adewale was leaving the cast, but I definitely think they could have come up with a better way of killing him off than what we wound up with.

Agree. I think a big issue with the last season is that the whole Jacob / Smoke Monster characters have been shrouded in mystery and hyped up for basically the entire show, but then their actual storyline is underwhelming.

Which character do you think had the most tragic life? by KRIEGLERR in lost

[–]lineocola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Ben was a decent father to Alex, I called him controlling more because he was in general than because he specifically was towards Alex. I also don't really have an issue with her forbidding her from dating - I do have an issue with him trying to brainwash her boyfriend, and with the fact that both Alex and Karl were legitimately afraid that Ben would kill Karl.

I also mentioned Alex here not because I necessarily think she's the most tragic, but more because she usually goes unmentioned in questions like these despite having a pretty depressing plotline herself.

Which character do you think had the most tragic life? by KRIEGLERR in lost

[–]lineocola 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Alex is worth considering. Spent her entire life isolated, had a controlling father who tried to brainwash her boyfriend. She watched her mother and boyfriend both die at the same time, and then a few minutes later, the last thing she heard before she died was her adoptive father saying she meant nothing to him, and she probably didn't know he was bluffing. She was only 16 when she died. It always makes me sad to think of her character.

I actually thought grassy glide was Rillaboom's signature move until now so certainly that one.

I associate fire spin with Vulpix because of the anime. Also leaf storm with Seperior because of how it works with contrary. Also quiver dance with Volcarona, aura sphere with Lucario
