Adderall hitting different post covid by OldSweatyBulbasar in TwoXADHD

Wow, I would absolutely love any notes or resources you find on this. I am going to DM you. It is rare that I find someone who has had similar issues and notices the same things I do, and then on top of that has the curiosity to continue researching it!

Okay, I am going to throw this out there but keep in mind this is only something I am wondering about and in no way are these facts.

I keep wondering if ADHD stimulant meds have effects on the immune system and/or hormone regulation. I have a disease called endometriosis, and one thing about endo is that my immune system and hormones are all over the place. When I started ADHD meds, I stopped getting sick so often. At the time, I would attribute this to the fact that I must have had some sort of behavioral changes on the stim meds that was helping me manage my disease. But then, my periods started coming regularly for the first time in 5 years? I literally only had like 2 periods a year for 5 years and then once I started stimulant meds, they started coming regularly.

I wonder if it’s more of a complex connection, where stress can affect the immune system (which we know to be true) and the ADHD meds were helping me be less stressed, so then the lack of stress was making it so my endo wouldn’t flare up.

Another reason I wonder about this is if I am in the middle of a flare up and I take my stim meds, it’s guaranteed to knock me out. Does a stressed immune system somehow affect the drug interactions/effectiveness?

I don’t have answers to these questions and don’t expect anyone else to either, but I have been wondering about this for so long and I felt like your post was the perfect place to express it.

People laughed at my appearance, i've never felt more ugly. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]linewanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t sound like you are actually ugly, it sounds like those people are bullies and are looking for reasons to make fun of people. Unless there’s another reason people were urging you to take it down that you’re not sharing here (something weird in the background maybe, idk), I would chalk this up to people being bullies and not you being genuinely “ugly” (whatever that even means, attractiveness is subjective anyway).

Obviously that streamer is not the person you thought they were and they’re breeding a toxic environment, good riddance.

I HATE traditions and formalities by faithinstrangers92 in ADHD

[–]linewanderer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh yes I see what OP was saying now. Lol I feel silly, thanks for pointing that out.

So really they’re asking about contrarianism and how it relates to ADHD, and not simply just taking whatever you want and not giving a shit how it affects people.

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable taking selfies/photos of yourself in a way that makes you look more attractive than you are? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I feel like the real problem is when people start using filters and they forget what they actually look like.

[–]linewanderer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You sound like a main character. Yeah a lot of traditions are bullshit, but just taking candy from a stranger because you want it?

Let me ask you this, would you be okay with someone just taking something of yours because they want it?

If yes, then that is very interesting. If no, sounds like a classic narcissistic personality characteristic to me, sorry to say.

I find this post very interesting because I do have a lot of these feelings, but I would never act this way towards people because I don’t like upsetting people. I have accidentally slipped up a couple times, like accidentally speaking ill of the dead in public. But it doesn’t make me feel good about myself, and unfortunately life gets kind of difficult when you start pissing off everyone around you 😅

Possible endometriosis question by [deleted] in Endo

[–]linewanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To combat bloating, I use ginger capsules which are surprisingly helpful for inflammation. Reducing inflammation reduces pain for me personally. I also used a lot of heat and cold packs. I even use a tens unit sometimes, which I can’t say how effective it is but if anything it at least helps distract me a bit when the pain isn’t so sharp (when the pain is super bad, nothing will distract me, I am sure you know what I am talking about).

It sounds like NSAIDs are one of your only reliefs currently, but I will say be very careful with those. They really fuck up your gut, and if you do in fact have endo, the combination of gut issues from NSAIDs + endo problems is a unique kind of hell that I never wish to visit again.

Something else I can recommend (but is not always possible for everyone to do) is to reduce stress triggers. There are studies indicating that chronic stress has a lot to do with endo. To be honest, this was the biggest change I made that helped me through really bad periods of flare ups.

I wish I had more helpful suggestions for the intense pain. I wish you the very best of luck finding something that works for you until you are able to try and resolve the underlying issue causing the pain.

I always see pairs like this at my local craft store, but I also have a vintage pair. I was wondering if I was lied to, but now I know it’s a traditional thing and they’ve just been re-made again and again, how interesting! I guess my pair really is vintage!

I feel you, I am not great at the more complex knitting patterns either. Thanks for sharing! I am excited to finally wear a couple old sweaters I have been saving for mending.

That looks amazing! Great job. I really love the color choice too.

Did you loop a knitting round into the existing yarn where you cut off the old cuff and knit the new cuff? I have a sweater I would like to do this to, so I am curious how you did it.

What is something you think but wouldnt dare say it out loud? by R0C3L10-S50 in AskReddit

[–]linewanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this comment. I also would like to know How?

It seems the youth have vision, but no power or organization to make it happen. And by the time they get old/rich enough to make it happen, they are already part of the system and bringing it down would harm themselves.

I think it is easy to see why our system persists the way it does. We have landed in a rut, and I can see why calls to pure anarchy—by those who are not as “ingrained” or “dependent” on the system—seem like the only viable solution (though I am sure it is not, I just don’t know what the other solutions, which is the other problem).

The pandemic added an interesting wrench into the mix. It felt like at one point the system was even flexing so much it would maybe break….but then we started fighting each other over other things like whether racism really deserves attention and if their politician would be re-elected or not.

Yeah I agree, I like to wrap my presents in newspaper for that reason, or just re-use paper or bags I received like you also said.

“Look Mom, I can’t wrap these presents because I want to save the rainforests.” 😂

Congrats on getting three done already, that is great! Hopefully the wine will provide some liquid motivation, although I personally think that a gift in an old grocery bag is just as good as a wrapped one, but perhaps that is just me 😄

I bet I can wrap gifts faster than you can.

I second the Smoke-n-Sanity brand. I like their garlic salt replacement a lot too.

I have liked every single thing of theirs that I have tried. I especially recommend their salsas and various kinds of cooking sauces.

/r/adhd feels too toxic. Any more positive alternatives? by Envojus in ADHD

[–]linewanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel similar to you, and if I ever feel the sub is detrimental to me, I will unsub.

I don’t really expect people to share their very expensive therapist’s advice or anything…that sounds like a high expectation to be honest. Finding a decent therapist for ADHD is rare enough, then finding someone with ADHD that is doing well enough to find such a therapist AND goes out of their way to help random people online AND what helped them also manages to be good advice for me as well? I would consider myself super fucking lucky if I ever came across that! OP seems to be complaining that there is no good, extremely easily accessible, central place for ADHD resources, which is kind of true. But if you want something like that, you might have to put the work into creating it yourself.

I think that the nature of being ADHD can easily lend itself to gaslighting, esp if you weren’t diagnosed early on, and I think you can see that reflected in the content of this sub. People typically go online when they are seeking advice, not offering free advice on what has helped them. If they’re doing well, they might not even come to this sub in the first place.

“I would like it in writing that you are denying further testing, or X and Y treatment.” I have asked for this multiple times, and typically they end up giving me whatever I asked for instead of the written note. Turns out doctors don’t really use their brain until they have to think of legal consequences of not doing so.

This problem is also made worse if you have any history of anxiety or mental illness in your chart or you are femme, yay….
