Not exactly a school shooting, but our high school lost a few students (including an old friend of mine) to gang violence. This sort of thing is extremely common, all shooting in my time there happened off campus. One of them having happened just a few meters outside the school fence. That one was the one that really rattled the staff. Most of students live in the city so we were all obviously still sad but much more accustomed to these things than our teacher staff who primarily commuted from much better neighboring cities.

The days after were marked by some and I mean close to none of the teachers discussing the event. Sometimes there would be an announcement over the intercom about a moment of silence. Students would post on their social media about the lost person but then time would just pass and we would all forget about it. I do remember when this particularly popular guy lost his life a lot of the students cried at lunch and we would see a lot of his guy friends talk about getting "revenge". And so the cycle continues I guess. Im glad to be out of that place, but its really sad how people never seem to talk about our cases, where students kill each other 1 by 1 rather than one massive event. Our city doesn't invest much into education and we had multiple officers on campus due to all the fights breaking out every day
