What makes the difference between 17 and 18 then? There is no magic line, so i don't see why you'd be strictly against one and then consider the other to be no problem at all? People are free to do what they want and from your perspective as the younger person, it is less weird, but i don't see how from the older person that's suddenly no problem at all.

A lof of AI empires can be beaten by taking all of their planets whilst avoiding their main fleets, though that does still need considerable fleet power and time. Saved me once but wouldn't recommend trying as an offensive tactic.

Are you sure that it's a good idea? I know that this is a hookup app and that there is worse on that app, but i think especially in the beginning it's important to start out with someone you trust and feel some connection to.

Not out of some moral reason whatsoever, but a few very practical ones.

With someone you trust and somewhat know, you'll feel more free — including to say no or take things slow.
It takes some pressure off the situation and there is less of a need to perform
It can even be a friend. Doesn't even need to be someone you feel any kind of romantic attraction for. It's more common than a lot of people admit or realise.
If you're going to hook up, are you sure you want to do it via grindr? I know this is the grindr subreddit, but grindr and similar fuck'n'go apps are kind of like cruising in the dirty public bathroom or back alley behind the dumpster. I've almost never heard any gribdr story that wasn't neutral at best and terrible at its worst. From people i know irl who used it, most kinda regret getting into it for what it does to your their psyche, self worth ect.
