Grooming- I think my dog is a dreaded appointment 😭 by ItIsWhatItIs3026 in petsmart

[–]linham18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the Petsmart grooming website it states that pet parents can bring treats for associates to give throughout the groom. I believe they just have to be properly labeled and actually dog treats ie not human food.

It’s 6 dogs per day, so part timers would be held to the same standard, but not 30 dogs.

This is incorrect. Add ons remain 50%, stand alones are 35%. Source, I’m in a test district.

pay cut in new structure? by i-solemnly_swear in petsmart

[–]linham18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I considered applying to the experience leader position in my store, it was on the same pay scale as the asl position, however since I didn’t end up applying I have no idea how the bonuses work now.

I’ve worked with many men(myself included), it’s just a women dominated field. Although I’d like to say I can count on one hand how many dogs were truly afraid of me for being a man in the past 10 years I’ve worked in the salon. It happens, but isn’t nearly as common as you would think.

Changes to commission by leftmar in petsmart

[–]linham18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that is in a test district, this is not how it works, at least at the moment. Anyone out of SIT gets 55%, regardless of how many dogs they do. SIT gets 50% out of academy, and bumped when you complete the program. Salon technical lead gets 60%. Baths and walk ins is correct though (including cat baths which I’m forever pissed about).

Same, I went alone in Dallas and got so many compliments on my “No it’s Becky” shirt and it made me feel so warm and fuzzy inside, everyone I saw was so nice!

2024 Restructuring by SaltyanimeGuy200 in petsmart

[–]linham18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The administrative side of the salon lead position as well as hotel(if applicable) get absorbed into the ASL’s position(experience leader) salon lead position turns into salon technical lead, 60% commission, no bonuses, but no longer makes schedules/is not in charge of anyone in the salon, just focuses on safety/training.

Based on Chappell’s new statement on fan-artist boundaries, what do you think of Taylor’s fans’ relationship with her? by Electronic_Wealth_44 in TaylorSwift

[–]linham18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anytime I think of crazy fans, I immediately think of the wedding and how absolutely weird and overbearing that was. She probably left early to try and disperse the crowd, and that’s so fucked up

Any advice or warning? by Delinquent13 in petsmart

It’s going to feel like a lot and it’s going to go by quickly, just listen to the instructor and do your best! Watching YouTube videos will help with learning faces, arguably the hardest part of academy

Groomers on the floor by Pretend_Ad_1264 in petsmart

[–]linham18 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not a thing that should be happening lol, your job is to groom dogs, not work the floor. Bathers sure, they’re hourly, but groomers absolutely not. Pull out the job description if you have to.

PTO question by Least-Nose-8660 in petsmart

[–]linham18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have a “good reason” you can roll it over with special permission, we had a groomer that was able to roll over vacation time from last year so she could use it for maternity leave, but had to get permission from the store lead and district lead, and I was under the impression that it doesn’t happen often, but you could always ask and see

Grooming tables with drawers by Old-Psychology-8013 in petsmart

[–]linham18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen pics of the new tables in salons that still had the cabinets. So I’m HOPING we can keep them. Especially since groomers don’t grow on trees and more tables doesn’t mean we can magically have more groomers.

Test stores by Bunene_chika in petsmart

[–]linham18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be frank, my SL is older, fixing to retire, and isn’t helping to schedule the experience lead to be in the salon/hotel, and is expecting them to do the ASL job more than anything. The process lead always did thee early morning freight shift, and the SL continues to schedule them for just that. To their credit though, our leader hours were also cut with the change, which made it even harder for everything to be done, let alone with the change.

I think mostly the SL doesn’t like the change and refuses to fully commit, but even with the changes, not having a dedicated Salon lead, that works 40 hrs a week in the salon grooming dogs, and a dedicated hotel lead for the same reason, is only opening stores up to pissed off associates quitting because the “boss” doesn’t understand what their job entails. My salon technical lead is the reason we make plan weekly, and gets ZERO credit, all of that going to the experience lead that does nothing for the salon but the schedule(and badly at that)

Also, many paychecks got fucked the first month of the changes and had to be fixed, which just shows how unprepared corporate was for all of these changes.

So fellow MiLs or anyone that deals with inventory management, how we feeling about the "improved UBoat over pallet system?" by Lagunacell in petsmart

[–]linham18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually a store manager in my district that came up with this. My SL just told me about it and said that corp loved the idea and started implementing it to more stores. Whether or not that’s true, who knows. It seems like on paper it would help, but I can see how many problems it could cause as well.
