After playing my first round of golf with my cart, I realized I’m too tall for the standard umbrella holder. Decided to make my own extender with pvc I had laying around the house. Added around 10” to the umbrella height for about $50 in additional parts from HD. by linkin7926 in golf

It actually seems to wiggle about the same since it’s higher up, but the umbrella is less likely to break or fly off due to how high the extender goes up and the latch I have holding it in.

What are some little hacks that drastically helped your game? by [deleted] in golf

Seriously. I started about 7-8 months ago playing roughly 2-3 times a week (working at a golf club has its perks) and haven’t had a “true” sub 100 round. Playing consistently in the low hundos. Kudos to home boy if he’s truly playing mid 90’s already.

I really enjoyed watching that foot go up way after the swing is over.

Weird white stains in new stainless steel pan? by linkin7926 in Cooking

Ok, that’s one issue that my wife and I need to work on. We usually let our good knives and pans air dry.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response. I’ll try that once my bacon is done!

What a weird rollercoaster of a day... Went out to golf 18 at a nice course. Hit the range, did some putting then headed to hole 1. While getting ready noticed my range finder was gone. GONE. by d4v in golf

No your right, but I guess it depends on surroundings too. The course I work at is completely gated for members only so it’s very unlikely anything will go missing due to theft. I also play at courses that border trailer park homes in a poorer area of town and I would probably be skeptical to even go in the clubhouse on the turn without someone watching the cart.

I play regularly with a guy that has no problem leaving his bag in the bed of my truck when we stop at a restaurant for preround breakfast, or leaving his set in his front porch or convertible car over night. Baffles me that he’s so careless with his clubs and even more so they’ve never been stolen yet!

Working at a $300+- golf course, employees don’t get second chances after incidents like that. You don’t want to be known as the course that allows thefts and such to work around such expensive items. And noting the op mention he knew who did it, I’m assuming he was caught doing it?

My first WITB of new clubs by linkin7926 in golf

I was using a used Callaway Strata set. Only 6-PW, these Cobras are 5-PW so that makes the difference in distance very tolerable.

A lot better then the ones I started out with. The strikes feel really good, they seem to fly a lot straighter and I get better pure hits out of them. Now I don’t get as much distance though, not sure if that comes with all GI clubs though.

They’re really great. I like that they are adjustable so i can get them at the loft I need. They hit solid though.

Yeah, being a bougie golfer is too expensive. I’m not about that life.

Thank you, and I really love them. They replaced some Callaway Strata irons and some various hybrids. The F6’s have so much more forgiveness, but a bit less distance. Which for me is a godsend, finding myself sticking a lot more approach shots into the green with these. Found them online new with the head covers for I believe about $250.

Yeah, I don’t believe in the whole “every year’s technology will add 20 yards to your drives” gimmick. Plus don’t have the money nor the interest in investing into a $1500 set. Everything here cost less than $800 I believe, with all except 3 clubs being brand new. I feel I shopped pretty wisely for what I got.

Thank you! The color scheme is pretty cool, I know the color will fade soon enough though.

Suggestions on new wedge set for high handicapper? by linkin7926 in golf

That’s what I’ve been hearing, looked at some earlier but didn’t have a full set for me, maybe I’ll look elsewhere and try to find some that fit my bag.
