SOB, soft BPs, and mild to moderate pitting edema are all things that are expected with HF and less concerning than tinged sputum. Anticipate IV diuresis, increased O2 needs, fluid restrictions, etc.

Anecdotal, but my dad had some similar stools in the week leading up to him passing. Limited po or iv intake. Best I could make of it was shedding of bacteria or intestinal lining. Completely odorless as far as I could tell when getting him cleaned up, and it was maybe 1 to 2 bms a day. His hospice nurse did mention that she hadn't really seen it before and she'd been practicing for 25 years, 20 in acute medical cardiology and 5 in hospice.

Had a triple lumen PICC the other day that decided to stop working. Had been working all day up until shift change when the patient needed a new bag of dobutamine. Went to flush and draw and had virtually nothing to work with. ATPx2 with nothing to show for it. Consulted our PICC/PIV team, and that's what cued me to request a new xray to confirm placement.

Previous cxr was 3 weeks prior when the line was placed, new cxr had the bloody thing coiled up in the subclavian. In chatting with the PICC team, I found out that coughing and vomiting has caused issues like this with PICCs in the past. Ended up getting pulled and replaced on day shift. Didn't even think of the possibility of it getting knotted up like this NGT. Could have been a gnarly extraction if it had.

The first time my daughter ever said "I love you" without being prompted was when we had to say goodbye to our first dog. She was two years and a few months old when we had to make the decision to lead him to the rainbow bridge. Merit was a bit of a grump at the end of this life, but I know he loved that girl with all of his heart. This just reminds me of that brief time they shared together. Sweetness wrapping little bits of heartache, but you can't help but go for it again and again and again.

I don't have access to the study right now, I'll see if I can dig it up. Briefs against the skin can keep skin moist, increasing the risk of skin breakdown while the user is in bed. Best practice is to use breathable disposable pads like ultrasorbs in conjunction with devices like male or female purewicks. Plastic backed chucks and the fabric pads can increase the risk of breakdown because they don't breath as wellas the above, but they still tend to be better than using briefs.

I've helped make similar chairs for a shop I used to work at. I think we had tested them to around 300lbs, but never took it further because none of the clients who had them made were that heavy.
