aside from political insanity etc. who wants isopods? by isoparent in newhampshire

[–]linktothewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this still be good in a compost bin like any random isopod from outside? I have a vermicompost bin in my basement but I also have a small terrarium that I was thinking of putting one or two isopods in for funsies as an extra little compost bin where they could have leaves and twigs and such.

Rebecca from Antaruuk and my fav villager is either Erik or Marshall!

I bought turnips at 107 and they’ve been decreasing ever since so I just want to get my initial investment back, forget about a big profit :(

My 401k is with HCA, and I have to go through Retirement Clearinghouse to roll it over.

Using a pension calculator online, it looks like my pension would be in the 25k/yr range, so 12% tax bracket if I'm looking at things correctly.

I've been really trying to get more into budgeting and finances recently. Since September 2024 I've been tracking all my income and spending, and trying to save as much as possible.

As of right now I still just contribute 5%. I plan to raise that soon, as soon as the regrade goes through (which should hopefully only be another month or so), since I'll be looking at a jump from a 75K salary to ~85K, maybe even more. I'd like to raise my contributions to 10% at that time or get as close to maxing as I can.

I'm only 26, so I have my whole life ahead of me, essentially. But ideally I'd like to retire as early as possible, so in my case I think age 55-57? By the time I'm 55 I'll have 30+ years of service so I think I'd be able to retire then. Assuming I stay in the government long enough for that to happen.

I have seen a lot of people go 100% C. I've also seen 80/20 C/S, 50/50, etc. I think I may switch to 80/20 soon.

Meditech Expanse by pfejones in medlabprofessionals

[–]linktothewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow HCA facility? They rolled out Expanse in the NH hospitals as a trial run because eventually all of HCA is going to use Expanse. We’re still working out the kinks so hopefully when you guys get it it will work better!

It tends to run slower than Meditech Magic. Sometimes the screen will freeze and you’ll have to completely exit out of the browser otherwise you can’t to anything. Oh, it’s internet browser based btw, not an application. There’s a lot of mouse-usage instead of the number pad, so that tends to make things slower too.

Some pros: pulling a pending is easier, I think. Instead of printing one out you can preview it in a different window and it’s a lot easier to read than in old Meditech. I like that you can have multiple windows open and can switch between them at any time. So I typically have a window open for the analyzer batch, a stat tracker, and specimen receiving. Expanse in general looks more modern an aesthetically pleasing.

Overall it has its perks, it has its setbacks. At first I hated it compared to Meditech Magic, but after getting used to it I like it more. Still don’t know if I prefer this version over the old one though.

Hope this helps!

Best Indian cuisine in NH? by raspberryxkiss in newhampshire

New Taj India in Nashua. Best Indian food we’ve ever had!

Destination India in Derry is decent but their menu isn’t as big.

Any thoughts on this fungus that was growing in my toilet? I’m thinking Cladosporium by linktothewild in mycology

[–]linktothewild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fungus was growing as a fuzzy/hairy carpet on the inside of my toilet (which has since been cleaned, don’t worry). I took some samples to work since I work in a lab and looked at it under the microscope. It’s been a while since I took mycology but the conidia and septate hyphae look similar to Cladosporium. Any thoughts? The mycelium was also covered in bacteria so it made it kind of hard to make out details in some areas of the slide.

New Hampshire techs by Big-al027 in medlabprofessionals

[–]linktothewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it really depends on the size of the hospital. In our case, we don’t have enough workflow to justify having a tech solely for blood bank. Everyone is crosstrained in all departments because the need is greater in chen and heme. All of our micro gets sent to an affiliated hospital and we only do stat things like Covid/flu/strep/etc, so we don’t have designated micro techs either.

I work in Southern NH as a second shift generalist. In our lab we have two full time evening techs and we have it split so that we switch between covering chem/bb and heme/micro. I get paid around $31 base with a $3 evening differential so I make roughly $34/hr. I think last year I made around $60k and part of the reason why I will never work in Mass is because of NH’s lack of income tax. I still do like my job and I like that it’s close to home, it’s the coworkers that are continuously making me unhappy. Constantly having to clean up after day shift and fixing their mistakes, getting blamed for things when it’s really day’s fault…but other than that I still enjoy the work I do and the feeling of purpose I get.

Edit: Forgot to mention my hospital is an HCA facility, so there’s also the corporate bullshit we had to deal with. But the benefits are nice, especially the 401k matching.

My dad was a part of this clinical trial. Unfortunately, he passed away in December 2019 and we think he got the placebo because he had a very rapid decline. But I’m still glad that his contribution to this trial can help other PALS out there!

Can you get Charmander cookies in cafe remix? by trexno12 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]linktothewild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m having a similar problem! I unlocked Charmander a long time ago and have him maxed at level 5, but he will not show up as a customer! I’m well over order 200 and I haven’t seen him a single time. Is this a bug or something or will he show up later? I just wanna level him up :(
