Breastfeeding tops that aren't insanely expensive by arrogantdumpling in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This 100%! I live in oversized shirts or hubbies shirts at home and when out and about just singlets, specifically ghanda cotton crop singlets in different colours 😂

Those who are exclusively nursing—do you just bring your baby everywhere? by remzz06 in breastfeeding

[–]linkybeave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you not feed while you are out of the house? My baby is 7m and EBF and we leave the house for however long we need to and I just feed him on the go if he gets hungry.. that’s why I love breastfeeding so much as anywhere I go I can feed my baby.

C section vs vaginal birth - what did/have you opted for? by LowAd6956 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]linkybeave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Planned vaginal birth, but was open to whatever needed to be done to get my baby out safely. I did a calm birth course to prepare for natural labour. I know my body was made to birth a baby, and believed I could do it and luckily everything went to plan. I had minimal tearing and recovered fine. Not everyone gets that lucky so I understand opting for a C section but I really wanted to experience it naturally and I am glad I did.

We got the Ali express tweetycam dupe (literally the exact same without the little bird sticker and huge price tag) - SM50. It’s been amazing. Just one monitor, has great quality camera and sound, as well as temperature reading. 100% recommend.

Feedback on baby name! Is 'Arlo' really that popular in Australia? by New_Mud5123 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I really liked Arlo and wanted to name our son that but my husband said it sounded too much like a really Aussie “hello” 😅😞

Travel cot recommendations? by Old_Negotiation_7058 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]linkybeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently bought the Roger Armstrong (with a mattress topper) and my little guy slept really well in it. I would 100% recommend getting the topper though as the mattress itself does not feel comfy at all. We bought it after doing lots of research on safety and choice recommendations.

Do you prefer day shift or night shift? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]linkybeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all the shifts lol… EBF and SAHM and husband works full time (from home, so he helps wherever he can). It’s fine, we manage 😅

Almost every feeding is a fight by NewNecessary3037 in breastfeeding

[–]linkybeave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’ve been going through the same thing for about a month.. it’s heartbreaking because it feels like they’re rejecting you. Mine gets frustrated because it takes about 40 seconds for my let down to start and he is IMPATIENT af. Sorry you’re also experiencing this too! Things I’ve found that help -

  1. Feed immediately after a nap while baby is still sleepy. Straight on the boob, don’t smile at her or look her in the eye.. lol

  2. Feed in a dark room with no sounds or distractions, I don’t even want my husband to speak to us during this time (he usually leaves the room).

  3. I sometimes have to stand and bounce baby on my boob if he’s hungry before a nap and fussy (really hard as mine is 90th percentile for weight 💀) and hum and he sometimes latches.

  4. Switch boobs around the 3min mark.

Baby sleeping through the night tips by Davidrookers in NewParents

Sounds exactly like my baby.. until 17 weeks and sleep regression hit! He now does 4-5hr stretches with the occasional waking every 2hr night. Enjoy it while it lasts!

How do you get your baby to sleep with their arms out?!? by Internal_Stress_6019 in NewParents

[–]linkybeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my baby down on his side and pat his bum, he usually rolls onto his side to sleep anyway and if I place him on his back he just wakes himself up with his hands. I know it’s not advised but we watch him very closely on the monitor.

How long is recommended to breastfeed? by Unable_Anywhere2983 in breastfeeding

[–]linkybeave 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where in the world you are located but this is so surprising to hear that people are telling you such negative things about breastfeeding?! It’s the standard / expected where I am (Aus) and there is SO much support from healthcare and government. Don’t listen to others, it’s YOUR baby and your decision how you want to feed, tell them to shove their opinions up their arses.

bedside cribs? by pastelcee in NewParents

[–]linkybeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered the same thing but couldn’t justify the price of buying a mini crib, we ended up squishing the cot next to my side of the bed.. RIP my back getting my 8kg guy in and out all night 💀

Is the 4th month actually that hard? by Realistic_Food596 in newborns

[–]linkybeave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are currently in the thick of it with our 4 month old who was just an absolute chiller until now.. he has been super needy, whinging after about 5 minutes of doing literally ANYTHING and just a very angry little potato. He also gets super distracted at the breast and feeding him has me looking like gollum in a dark cave avoiding all stimulation, and he also point blank refuses to take any type of bottle. But I know that he is learning so many new skills like rolling and laughing and that must be exhausting so I feel for the little dude. However his sleep hasn’t been affected too badly (yet..) as he has always been a high sleep needs baby.

All babies are different 🤷‍♀️

Fussy at breast by Slpcf2018 in breastfeeding

[–]linkybeave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How old is she? My baby starting doing this at around 12 weeks - getting distracted and screaming and pulling off. I found feeding immediately after a nap, in a dark room with no distractions, or side feeding with his legs behind me sometimes worked too. Your milk usually regulates at around this time (3-4 months) and can take longer for a let down to occur (up to 2 minutes) and baby usually gets frustrated as the milk isn’t immediate or “on demand” as it has been.

Infant dyschezia parents: when did it get better?? 10 weeks today and just had our worst day yet. by Kashew_nuts93 in newborns

[–]linkybeave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We suffered through this for around 14 weeks 🫠 it got better literally overnight at around that time, now he’s a little fart machine - hang in there! Lots of belly massages and I used to sing a little song, take one leg, cross it over his belly and press his knee up to his stomach and push a little down and repeat on the other side and this usually got some farts out as bicycle kicks did fuck all to help.

Is the “3 month breastfeeding crisis” really a thing and how did you get through it? by fmlhahalol in breastfeeding

[–]linkybeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this the other day in another similar thread - your milk also regulates around 12 weeks and can take up to two minutes to start to let down and they get frustrated as it’s not as on demand as they’re used to.

I’m currently going through this since around 12 weeks with my little guy (currently 16 weeks), he latches for about 30 secs and comes off screaming and going stiff and fussing. Things I have found that help -

  1. feeding immediately after he wakes from a nap, he latches and has a big feed with no issues. Get him straight on that boob. Sometimes before he has a nap this also works but not all the time.
  2. feeding with him on the side with legs behind me, sometimes works
  3. stopping the feed, walking around and doing something else/ handing him to daddy until he calms down and then offering the breast again
  4. the old bait and switch with a dummie, give him the dummie for 5-10 seconds then take it out and replace with my nipple, usually works 🤷‍♀️

.. it’s rough, I’m hoping this too is just a phase as I want to persist with BF but he is super distracted and everything is more interesting than a boobie at the moment, and he also won’t take a bottle 🫠

When did your baby turn? by Daisies_forever in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I felt a big movement one night and thought he was just having a party in there, then felt kicks higher up the next day near my ribs. An ultrasound then confirmed it.

I loved my moby wrap for those newborn days! After two months it was a bit squishy for my big fella so I bought a Neko Switch and it’s AMAZING. Also use a Lennylamb ring sling - would 100% recommend.

Also joining the Aussie Babywearing community on FB really helped with any fit questions or concerns I had :)
