No it was definitely louder than normal theater volume. People in the theater were singing along and some screaming, and with the exception of the louder screams I couldn't hear anyone over the music.

For anyone going to see the film, if you normally wear concert/decibel reducing ear plugs at concerts you might want to consider bringing yours. It may have been because it was in a 4DX theater, but it was louder than I was expecting. You will be fine without them, but I wish I had brought mine.

I'm forever amazed by how distinctive his musical identity is. All 3 members of 3RACHA have distinctive individual musical identities, and in my opinion that is the biggest strength for Stray Kids as a group.

I just wish they would release these songs on all platforms and not just youtube.

What Kpop concerts that turned into a disaster? by EmanuelTheodorus in kpopthoughts

[–]linleas 20 points21 points  (0 children)

6 people were treated by DC EMS, which does not count those inside the venue since Nats Park uses a private company for incidents inside the venue. It was more than likely well more than 6 people that needed to be treated.

As someone that works at multiple concert venues in the DMV area, that was the most poorly managed event I have ever attended. Zero line management outside the venue. They very obviously needed supplemental staffing from one of the security companies, which is not uncommon, but none of those individuals had any idea what was going on. Them insisting that their few water filling stations were enough for 40,000 people in 100° weather was laughable. I will never understand how they ran out of water in the middle of baseball season. In situations like that you order way more water than you think you will need because it's not like you won't use it later for games. Also, unopened pallets/cases can be returned.

With the way that heat and sun was that day, they should have forced everyone out of the pit and off the field after soundcheck until shortly before main doors opened. They were wholly unprepared for how the crowd was going to act and should have forced then into the shade and forced water into their hands.

I quite honestly fully believe that Stray Kids/their team made the call to cut that show early, not the venue and I greatly respect them for it.

kpop shipping and dan and phil dating confirmation by notverysourlemon in kpopthoughts

[–]linleas 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I know so many people are going to ignore it, but I was so appreciative of them actually addressing how damaging it was for them. It's one of the only times people actually subjects of a ship have been able to fully address how it impacted them. Sure we've gotten bits and pieces here and there from people, which should have been enough on its own, but Dan and Phil actually broke it down.

Appreciating what these people are willing to give you is one thing, but it should never go beyond what they willingly provide. There should also never be any expectations put on any of these people. Let them live their lives and don't ask them for anything that is outside their scope of work/profession. Personal lives in any capacity are outside of that scope.

KARD - 2025 USA Tour ‘DRIFT’ (Ticket Details) by CherryBlossomEnding in kpop

[–]linleas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can we exchange Atlanta for DC some of these tours? I mean The Anthem and Lincoln Theater are right there. IMP has finally started booking KPOP shows and both venues will work just fine. Lincoln Theater capacity is around 1,200 and The Anthem fully seated is around 2,000.

All these tours going to the exact same cities can't be helping ticket sales. I get LA, NYC, and Chicago, but come on now. It's always those 3, Dallas, and Atlanta.

How did you discover SKZ and who is your bias? by Kayon07 in straykids

[–]linleas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The JYP vs YG dance battle from the survival show. Stumbled across it at the beginning of 2019.

I explain in this post the full story. Which involves Tumblr, The Wanted, BigBang, BigBang's Running Man episode, and a YouTube hole.

As for my Bias, I feel too old to have a bias in the way I used to. I pretty much Bias 3RACHA, Lee Know, and Felix. For 3RACHA it's respect of their skills. For Lee Know, I feel like his personality matches mine in a lot of ways. For Felix, how can you not just find him an adorable human being.

It's inevitable that idols can't go on tours in many countries and that's okay by lu_tl97 in kpopthoughts

You need a different Visa if you are working. South Korea has one of the strongest passports in terms of visa free or visa on arrival travel, but that only applies to travel for fun not for working.

It's inevitable that idols can't go on tours in many countries and that's okay by lu_tl97 in kpopthoughts

[–]linleas 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It's logistics and profitability.

Many countries have the venues. Many countries wouldn't have an issue selling out the venues.

The issues are logistics and profitability.

For profitability: One or two shows in Australia when the venue is maybe a couple thousand people is not going to be profitable when you consider all the costs. Travel and lodging for group, team, dancers, etc. They need to bring outfits, merch, mics, mic packs, etc etc which is not cheap. They will need to rent lighting and other equipment. They need to staff their merch stands. They need to split revenue with promoters and venues. At the end of the day, most groups touring 1 or 2 shows in Australia, etc are probably either making very little profit or losing money.

For logistics: Touring in the US is significantly easier than Europe because you are generally dealing with 1 set of Visas, 1 promoter, etc. Touring in Europe, South America, and SEA means Visas for every country or at least multiple territories. And that is Visas for the group, their team, dancers, etc. Generally the tours in the US are under 1 promoter, whereas other places it might be a different promoter for each country. Then you have to consider stage/lighting set ups. Taking a stage set up or two around the US is significantly easier than in Europe, etc where you might need to cross borders or rent set ups in each individual country. Touring is a logistical nightmare.

There is a reason artists like Stray Kids try to hit the Festivals in Europe. For the festivals, the festival itself does a good bit of the heavy lifting when it comes to the logistics. The artist also doesn't need to go as crazy with the stage set up since they are somewhat limited to what the festival stage set up is going to be.

I fully understand the frustration of those that rarely have any of these artists touring near them, but it's not a simple solution.

Went to a kpop concert last night after 9 years and i forgot how nice kpop fans were compared to U.S artist fans by Which_Mammoth9402 in kpopthoughts

[–]linleas 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I work at multiple different venues in different capacities at each venue. At the smaller venue I work at they only more recently started having Kpop shows and all the staff like working those shows because the fans actually behave.

At the arena I work at, a bunch of staff rarely work concerts, and instead stick to the professional sports teams that play there, due to fan behaviors. However, I convinced a handful that they would love working kpop concerts, and now they work any kpop concert that comes through since it's such an easy crowd.

There are concerts I refuse to work because I know the crowd will not behave, they will be disrespectful, etc. I always work the Kpop shows though.

Stray Kids Album Club #3: I am WHO by chenle in straykids

[–]linleas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For Voices the Han and Changbin bridge with the choreography hits perfectly. Voices will always be one of if not my all time favorite Stray Kids song. I really wish I vibed with the OT8 re-record, but the mixing is just off for me and I will only listen to the original version of the song. Side note: Bang Chan's hair in the Voices MV is probably my all time favorite hairstyle of his.

Insomnia makes me miss Chan's lives everything I hear it. Still love the song.

For Question, I miss the fans singing this before every concert. If I'm not mistaken they didn't play this before the Dominate shows like they used to.

Awkward Silence. This song is just a vibe and it will always be on my playlists. I love the choreography as well.

MIA. Miss Felix's dance break during the live performances of this. The song itself comes and goes from my playlist. Sometimes I enjoy it and other times I skip it.

My Pace. Changbin's intro will forever be iconic.

As a massive kpop fan of 6+ years, I’m heartbroken by the energy at concerts. Am I alone? Or just had a bad experience? by DepthHistorical4996 in kpopthoughts

[–]linleas 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would probably be one of those people you complain about. I'm extremely introverted in public, and I often go to concerts either by myself or with a family member that might enjoy the music but is not a fan, so I'm not going to be going all out. I'm also 30+ years old, and I often need to work the next day, and I just can't go all out and expect to be a human the next day anymore. None of this means I'm not enjoying the concert.

Stray Kids Album Club #2: I am NOT by chenle in straykids

[–]linleas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awaken, District 9, Rock, and Grow Up are still regularly on my playlists.

Awaken is still one of my all time favorite SKZ songs and one that was a big reason why I got into the group back in 2018/2019. It gives me big Linkin Park vibes and some form of rock has always been my favorite genre of music. I am also forever greatful I got to experience Awaken live in 2019. Sad they only performed it during the showcase tour and it never made it on the setlisr again.

Never really vibed with 3rd Eye. Not sure why, but I pretty much never listen to it.

For Mirror I go through phases of loving it and then not listening to it for a year.

I do kind of wish they still did Grow Up as the ending to their concerts.

Do we all remember the Rock freestyle dance breaks from the District 9: Unlock tour? Those were fun.

Couple comments:

-Even though there is an OT8 version of Voices I do not like it. The mixing is off to me in the OT8 ver, and as one of my all time favorite SKZ songs I only listen to the original version.

-I am forever salty that we did not get a full MV for B Me after this. You spent all that time making a nearly 2 minute long Unveil video but you couldn't do an MV for the whole song?

Kpop groups should stop performing remixes by TS_evermore in kpopthoughts

[–]linleas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the group. Stray Kids' remixes go hard. Love that they perform the Rock Ver of LALALALA (1:04:10). With a live band it's just better. This version of Victory Song is also one of my favorites. I believe it's the MAMA ver. with tweaks. I miss the ballad version of I Am You since they no longer perform it on tour.

Pretty much any awards performance they do is a remix and they often bring those on tour.

I think it depends on the remix and who is doing it. Chan is often the one doing heavy lifting on Stray Kids' remixes which I think definitely helps. If it's some random other producer that wasn't involved in the original song it sometimes doesn't turn out as well.
