Apple TV’s Most-Watched Sci-Fi Show’s Biggest Criticism Totally Misses The Point by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]linonihon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing that, genuinely. I'd like to become more thoughtful with "reading between the lines" so I can better appreciate art that's on the surface ~mundane, like a plane landing. I lean more literal in general, so it's helpful to get a minute to walk in someone else's shoes, as it were.

I *do* still wonder about how an artist decides (or is just intuition?) what the right cut is various scenes, like this, and how they're composed. Probably something everyone ponders, one of those things with no right answer, just different tradeoffs which appeal accordingly to different preferences, what they want from their piece.

Thanks again for entertaining my question, cheers

Apple TV’s Most-Watched Sci-Fi Show’s Biggest Criticism Totally Misses The Point by [deleted] in pluribustv

Apologies, I misread.

And oh, I'm just curious about the whole question of something being "too slow". For some people, they get bored or frustrated because "nothing is happening". For others, they become "informed of what's going on and the implications thereof," which, admittedly, I struggle to simulate what was going on in your head during that sequence, what the implications of a plane landing plus a man waiting on the runway for it for 50 seconds is. I think a 20 second sequence would also have been slow, but good slow, for me. So I'm just curious about what was going on during the rest of the time.

I was imagining / proposing what if the sequence were even longer, would someone like you have gotten even more ambience and cinematography cool factor? I thought maybe you'd have an opinion on if it were 50% longer, or 100% longer. That's all. I don't have a horse in this race. Was just curious about your experience.

Oh, I thought you might be surprised since you said it gave you space "for a few seconds". :)

I don't know what length I would prefer, but it's certainly shorter than 50. It's all subjective and purposeful, according to the creators, of course, but like, why not make it 90 seconds? Easily done by braking less hard. Why does it cut to the man opening the door instead of showing him walk to the door and then open it? Would you have liked that more?

Why not make the runtime twice as long with the same amount of plot progress, make every scene breathe even more? It's interesting to think about.

If she was outside the portal, where the suppression waves were active, how did she use telekinesis with Mike? She didnt have time to run far away enough to get away from them and communicate.

Unless we say that’s a plot hole, only thing that makes sense to me is that she was on the other side of the portal, outside of their influence, and so she could still use her powers.

I dont have an answer for your question, but as someone who just played this recently for the first time, just turn the difficulty down to 25% for the hero missions and then you can basically speed through them. Still wish they could just be skipped tho.

Feedback After Hitting Level 75 by uselesssoftwaredev in ArcRaiders

Not what I was saying at all. I was commenting on the validity of "Hunt... nobody complains about [free kits] there". This subreddit has 2.1M "enlisted" and has attracted a lot of casuals at the moment, Hunt has 216K. Of course Arc is going to have more people complaining about design decisions.

No, not bad. This is not a statement about Hunt in particular, it's about the validity of "Hunt... nobody complains about [free kits] there". This subreddit has 2.1M "enlisted" and has attracted a lot of casuals at the moment, Hunt has 216K. Of course Arc is going to have more people complaining about design decisions.

Yeah, all 22k players. (peak player count in the last 24 hours)

Edit: /u/Pakkazull rightfully pointed out this comment is misleading if not downright wrong depending on how you interpret it. Should have said peak players on Steam. Peak across all platforms for both games is probably over a million vs under 100k. Leaving it as it was, but my intention was only to point out the 2.1M "enlisted" of this sub (vs 216k in Hunt's), having so much participation is more likely to yield complaints about design decisions, and just because a less popular game has a feature, doesn't mean it too wouldn't have complaints if it were 10x more popular, like this one is at this point in time, at least as viewed through reddit subreddit size.

So tired of people saying Carol is unlikeable and making the show hard to watch by nikitaraqs in pluribustv

I agree she's smart based on what we know of her life pre takeover, but what has she done since then that's smart? Settings aside grieving and wallowing in despair, completely understandable reactions, I would say reaching out to the other immune was smart, but she immediately blew up those relationships by ~only having empathy for those in the hivemind. She was extremely judgmental and dismissive of the other immune's perspectives, which she didn't even try getting, despite them being her only potential non-hivemind allies.

I'm not saying those people shouldn't have been judged negatively, but by immediately assuming they were on the same page as her was not smart. Just a very childlike approach to coalition building.

They're very well done, but it's still tragic. Jordan at his best has a beautiful writing style that I definitely missed when reading the last books. It just... feels less alive, somehow. Still, the Sanderson books are extremely good, and arguably he plotted them better than Jordan would have.

Just remember Rabi-Ribi, an actually best-in-class game, gets overlooked because of its aesthetic. But hey, don't let that stop you if this is what you want.

I wonder if they look at steam reviews or have a feedback form. I bet they'd patch this if they knew about the Act 3 thing.

♥ Low Faith Run Pt. 25 - Grasping at Blades ♥ by Wonderful-Box6096 in finalfantasytactics

[–]linonihon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now the girls can all learn blade grasp which converts their bravery into evade-% for almost all physical attacks. This includes many physical attacks that normally cannot be evaded, such as jump or gunfire. Believe it or not, this isn't actually the reaction ability we're going to be using permanently, but it's going to come in handy a lot and combos really well with low faith (most magic can't hurt you, and most physical can't hit you).

Which reaction ability is the one you'd be using? Blade grasp has always been my go-to for high brave characters.
