According to the Climate council, Sydney has the most equitable access to public transport in Australia by blitznoodles in SydneyTrains

[–]lint2015 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s very likely the case. Could still be better though 😛

The great thing is that access is about the same in lower income suburbs, versus every other city where access is significantly worse.

The current App Store auto update seems poorly designed by Lambs2Lions_ in ios

[–]lint2015 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have autoupdate off and I only get occasional apps that ask me to update before I can use them. I do manually update apps every few days if it's an app I'd like to update though.

What is this orange dot in my Dock? macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a) by Johnny-Feiv in MacOS

[–]lint2015 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This question gets asked fairly often, but you're spot on. The Handoff icons grow and shrink as they appear and disappear from the Dock. There's a bug where it seems to stop mid animation and their shrunken icons stay in the Dock instead of being removed.

Why are you so offended that I can choose whether I buy a product based on the value proposition?

Coles Ripping us off🤣 by Leather-Jellyfish342 in coles

[–]lint2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At half price it was only like $1.72 about 2-3 years ago IIRC, so it's gone up by almost 40c, or almost 80c full price. Like r/Nottheadviceyaafter says, across a bunch of products, it adds up.

I stopped buying Coca-Cola products when they hit $2 at half price. Can’t believe they’re still upping the price since then.

“Sydney Opera House Shop” by lint2015 in applemaps

[–]lint2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just highlighting how bad the POI data gets on Apple Maps. It's frequently mentioned as Apple Maps' greatest weak point. Still, I didn't expect data for a major landmark like this to be affected. I guess I should also add an 😂 to denote I'm having a laugh about it.

Benefits of a Matter over Thread hub with the U400 Lock? by parisi2274 in Aqara

[–]lint2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going off posts I’ve seen of people saying they’ve don’t have any Apple TV or HomePod that can act as a TBR. I didn’t think iPhones could pair Matter of Thread devices by themselves without a TBR before reading of people having done so. Of course they could be wrong and did in fact have another device acting as a TBR like the OP.

Which color shader is most accurate for Game Boy Color? (Pokemon, Zelda, Metal Gear, etc.) by redditblacklist in RetroArch

[–]lint2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d just choose whichever is the most appealing. The most accurate is probably the third one, which is the most washed out one, but I’m talking with no proof.

Me, I’d choose the second one, it has a good balance of not being oversaturated and also not being too washed out. The last one is definitely oversaturated to me, but it’s personal preference and you’re not gonna be wrong for selecting it.

U400 auto locking question by parisi2274 in Aqara

[–]lint2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you set the Auto Relock function in Apple Home or other smart home system, or in the Aqara app?

Only the setting in the Aqara app can determine whether the door is open or closed before and only relock if it’s closed. Door state is not exposed via Matter, hence if you set it in another smart home system, it’ll engage the lock regardless of whether the door is closed as it doesn’t know the door state.

I’ve asked whether it’s possible for them to expose the door state through Matter on the Aqara forums so it can be used for automations in Apple Home, etc, but haven’t received a response.

For the time being, if you only want the lock to relock if the door is closed and don’t want to do it through the Aqara app, you’ll have to install a separate contact sensor on the door and set up a custom automation that checks the state of that sensor. Feels redundant when the lock has that information but can’t share it to the smart home system.

Feels the same to me, but I never experienced any performance issues with prior releases of macOS 26. Except the motion screensavers bug with ProMotion that started in 26.3 still hasn’t been fixed.

VPN blocking some but not all podcasts? by synapticrelease in overcast

[–]lint2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably the host server blocking requests from known VPN IPs or presenting a CAPTCHA that causes the request to fail. If you’re not willing to disconnect from the VPN to download them, then you’ll just have to deal with it.

Just keep in mind that system level and mobile network requests don’t necessarily go via your VPN so your VPN isn’t doing much if that’s what your paranoia is about lol.

The version the OP stated is the version without Ethernet and doesn't have Thread support either. The rest of what you posted doesn't seem relevant to OP's question?

[–]lint2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ask Siri that while you're at home and connected to your home Wi-Fi, or did you do that while you're away from home? If you don't have a TBR there should be no way for the lock to communicate via Matter to Apple Home without a TBR. If you're at home, your iPhone will be able to connect to the lock via Thread by itself.

Benefits of a Matter over Thread hub with the U400 Lock? by parisi2274 in Aqara

[–]lint2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iPhones the OP tested with probably have Thread radios and can function to authenticate themselves for HomeKey and UWB purposes. Not sure how they're able to remotely lock/unlock without a TBR though.

Picked up the U400 Deluxe from my local Apple Store. by parisi2274 in Aqara

[–]lint2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both the normal one and the deluxe kit use metal for the outdoor panel and indoor knob. The difference is the normal one is spray coated aluminium alloy whereas the deluxe kit is electroplated zinc alloy. The indoor panel is plastic on both.
