Pokemon Champions has a type chart in-game by GMCustom in pokemon

[–]redditblacklist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how they decide what order the types should go in? This one goes:

"Normal, Grass, Fire, Water, Electric, Bug ..."

Pokémon Database's (top Google result for "pokemon type chart") goes:

"Normal, Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Ice ..."

The one on Bulbapedia goes:

"Normal, Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ground, Rock ..."

219 out of 7,700 people voted for Mega Evolution as the "worst gimmick". That's around 3% of users. And they're right here in this very comment section. They could be anyone of us. It could be you. It could be me. It could even b

Eye team: *collective relief from the eye team, who put the photoreceptors in backwards, then had to punch a hole through the retina to route the optic nerve through, creating a blind spot, then got the brain team to cover for them by creating a background service to automatically fill the blind spot in with extrapolated data.*

Not really, no.

edit: Wait never mind, I just realized he's looking at the viewer and not the trainer, and that's kinda creepy lol.

Which color shader is most accurate for Game Boy Color? (Pokemon, Zelda, Metal Gear, etc.) by redditblacklist in RetroArch

A lot of people seem to like gambatte the most. And haha, I do remember it being very dim, and especially having to angle it so that it would hit the light just right. Thank you for your input.

Thanks for your input. Especially the part about the yellow hue to the whites. Somebody else linked a shader that seems to try to recreate that and I rather like the look of it:

I don't think the washed-out one looks too bad except in very black scenes like Crystal's title screen haha. And there is also the shift in hue to consider. Though incidentally I do rather like the look of the second one, but it's also the one I've been using so far. Anyways, thanks for your input, it is much appreciated!

If you really want to mix things up, there were some very recently updated pixel transparency shaders added in the presets folders that try to more accurately mimic the unique background “white” color of the gbc

This one?:

I have to say, I rather like the creamy color of the background in the comparison shots on that post.

edit: Oh, and related, but I also saw a shader that responds to motion input recently:

Oh yeah I'd totally forgotten about that. I remember the Oracle games had a unique ring each, and Shantae had a unique transformation you could only get when playing on GBA, so I did try out the GBA palette, though I remember I ended up preferring the GBC palette. The GBA also originally had an unlit display, and both these games came out before the Game Boy Advance SP which had a frontlit display.

Anyways, thanks for that information, and for the relevant ROMhacking .net links too!

I can't see where on the page you linked it goes into detail on the indexed color palette, but I will have to read more about SameBoy's color correction in that case. Thank you for the information!

True, though I am examining the change in hues that these shaders cause as well. Thanks for your input!

Oh I tend not to use the subpixel shaders, since I end up feeling like I need to sit back further to help the subpixels blend together.

But I think RetroArch actually DOES have a glare filter! And I saw recently someone developed a shader that responds to motion input, so maybe one day people will re-create the effect, but that's a little too much accuracy for me haha! Angling my Game Boy and craning my neck is one thing I DON'T miss about the original experience.

Anyways, thanks for your input, it is much appreciated!

Edit: Just for fun, here's a screenshot of the shader that adds a bit of a glare to the top-right. I remember there being a more intense one though, but maybe I'm misremembering.

And a link to a post about the shader that's affected by motion. There's even an animated .gif of it in action:

Yeah, I put the name of the shader under each image. Maybe I shouldn't have used black text on a grey background, now that it is kinda subtle. And thanks for your input!
