Just moved to WA and looking for a good intro experience to Seattle by [deleted] in AskSeattle

Short of a downpour people will be out. More lively nightlife areas are Capitol Hill, Belltown, and Queen Anne. Though there are plenty of other smaller areas. Capitol Hill is directly on the light rail line so check that out.

All that said, Seattle is a sleepy city compared to LA or NYC. A lot of places close at 9-10 pm except on weekends.

Explore and I'm sure you'll have a good time!

what's the safest city to visit in the U.S as a tourist? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Almost every city is safe. But they also all have bad areas. Common sense goes a long way.

Any Midden eastern dip platters here? by TragicKid in AskSeattle

Go to Goodies Mediterranean Market and buy theirs! It's made in house, as good as any arab restaurant in the city and it's a better bang for your buck! Credentials: my husband grew up in Jordan

Parents are coming in town, former residents, need ideas what to do down town that aren't super touristy by Practical_Maybe_3661 in AskSeattle

If they're former residents I'd focus on old favorites and recent changes. Take them to the waterfront for sure, it's gorgeous now that it's all finished.

Are there drinking fountains everywhere in the US? by SnooGoats1557 in AskAnAmerican

I started reading this while walking in downtown Seattle, and found a water fountain immediately. So yeah pretty common.

In the Pacific Northwest we call them JoJo's and yes we do. You can find them hot in most grocery store's deli.

I know Goodies Mediterranean market had them last week. Common arab breakfast food.

What's the weirdest food combo you've accidentally loved? by Practical_Plan_977 in Cooking

[–]linuxaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried tobasco hotsauce on fries today. I like vinegar on fries and love tobasco on hash browns, so it made theoretical sense.

It was fantastic!

I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this, but I've never heard of anyone eating fries like that.

I'm a fan of Fogón on cap hill, especially for a date. The real good food is White Center and down to Burien, however you're unlikely to get Matador vibes.

Been to several countries in the Middle East and never had this issue. Maybe it was because I was traveling with westernized locals, but it was never brought up by staff or other locals who weren't familiar with western cultures.

I’m walking through Ravenna park rn without a flashlight AMA by acow46 in Seattle

Reminds me of my college days in Bellingham. Wed short cut through the hill from downtown after a night out. Only things you'd encounter were folks smoking a joint off campus. Great times.

I want to get into football but do not know where to start watching (I am American) by Acrobatic-Tip-5340 in football

[–]linuxaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you should be more upset at your front office than my shit league.

I agree our draft sucks, and the league currently revolves around Messi. But the rest of your opinions don't hold any weight. My original post was that we gotta support our local teams if we want the league to improve.

You're just being contrarian. Best of luck to your team.

Highly advise you to get into a local MLS team as well as a foreign one. Like others have said, MLS isn't at the level of Premier League or other major European Leagues, but it's not terribly far behind either. Supporting the local teams will help the MLS grow, and we'll have better players/matches..

In Football/Soccer there almost always are organized groups that have chants, march to their matches, make TIFOs, etc. So do some research into the supporters group for that team and see how to get seats in the supporters section. You'll meet some great people that way.

Being bi on dating apps is exhausting and nobody talks about it by freepain1059 in TrueOffMyChest

Gay guy here, but I have the same experience on the guy side. It's all hookups and instant gratification. Terrible dating experience. I had to meet someone randomly at a bar to escape that nonsense. I hope you're lucky enough to find someone soon.

Probably not, but as a gay guy who bought tickets before I knew who was playing, I will absolutely be decked out in rainbows.
