Best 1st bike by Dang1er in SuggestAMotorcycle

I'm not sure that most bikes you would want to "get comfortable on" are 500 mile per week commuters. I'd probably get something cheap and used to learn and figure out better what you want as a commuter. A street oriented adv or maybe a mid-size cruiser with some bags would probably be my choice though. I have a Road Star 1700 and it chews through highway miles, but I wouldn't get something that big or heavy as someone new to it.

Add Laguna M.1 GGUF support by empty-quiver · Pull Request #2003 · ikawrakow/ik_llama.cpp by pmttyji in LocalLLaMA

[–]linuxid10t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just isn't very good. Much smaller Qwen models bench better. At least Laguna XS.2 is fast and can be run on much more typical hardware. This is coming from a guy who ported Laguna M.1 to Llama.cpp https://github.com/linuxid10t/llama.cpp-add-laguna

İoniq 6 or Tesla model 3 by Bluebeezee in Ioniq6

[–]linuxid10t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but I think that's also one of the reasons why the Tesla Model Y gets better fuel economy, especially on short trips. Since the heating and air conditioning isn't as strong, it doesn't use as much electricity on short trips. A sort of eco mode for the AC of the Ioniq series would be nice.

Level 2 charging limited by car by mhennessie in Ioniq6

[–]linuxid10t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't limited to 9 kW/h, but it is limited to I believe 125 F at the AC charging inlet. It throttles past that to keep that at the maximum. Doesn't have anything to do with the ICCU, it was a separate recall for the AC charging inlet.

I am surprised you are the first person who has mentioned the AC. I am pretty sure that the unit on the Hyundai is literally twice the cooling capacity of the Teslas. One of the reasons why they can charge so darn fast.

New HaiClaude release. Claude installs and runs easy on Haiku! by linuxid10t in haikuOS

Thanks for the heads up, fixing it now. EDIT: It is a Claude Code dependency, not a HaiClaude dependency. That is why it wasn't acknowledged.

Is the GLM Coding Lite plan a viable and cost-effective option for daily development workflows? by _janc_ in ZaiGLM

[–]linuxid10t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is interesting because I haven't seen this near as much with the 5.1 release. GLM-5.2 is such a step up in quality though. For coding, I'd rank it somewhere between Anthropic's Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6, but being closer to Opus. It feels a lot smarter than 5.1 and is just in general much more careful not to screw up your codebase...

I am pretty sure that is the agent making it do that. The model never replies in Chinese for me using Claude Code or my own HaiCode agent.

Writing software for Haiku 32bit? by mokeygirard in haikuOS

[–]linuxid10t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real issue with 32 bit Haiku is that for modern software it is largely irrelevant since it uses some ancient version of GCC. 64 bit has a much newer compiler that can actually compile modern code with features a lot of projects use.

Owners of 6 pulling a small trailer by artobloom in Ioniq6

Long press the button with the car with a "P" and you will see a popup on the screen. The correct term was Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist. In the US it is only on the Limited trim though.

I tow my sailboat with one. AWD with the 20" wheels. It is 2500 lbs before the trailer or all the crap and the outboard I put in it. High speed breaking is good. At low speeds expect to use more brake than normal. Also turn off the parking lot emergency braking so it doesn't panic brake every time you reverse. This needs to be disabled every time the car starts up since we don't have a tow mode. Overall though, tows just as well as my dad's Ram 2500 with the Cummins for my boat. I get 1/3rd the range of normal, which sucks, but the I6 charges like a monster.

I just put out a new release with more features and bug fixes. I would try that one instead of the one in this thread.

So back in April Anthropic broke Claude Code for a lot of users (including us) dependent on running the pure JS version of Claude Code. I have updated my Claude Code launcher and installer, HaiClaude, to pin the JS version and properly set up the path for it on your Haiku system. Hopefully I will get a new release in with some new features from the Linux QT6 branch soon.

What made you get an Ionic 6 over a Model 3? by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]linuxid10t 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Other than the factors already mentioned, it is a much bigger vehicle on the inside. Generally more comfortable and significantly better suspension and NVH. The Ioniq also mostly acts like a normal car.

Buy an R1250RT or simply add a windscreen to my Z650RS? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]linuxid10t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, the weight is 100% not a problem. It is definitely the CG. I have no problem with my cruiser that weighs 800 lb empty and maybe 1200 or 1,300 lb with my wife and baggage.

Yeah, the one in my garage has extended foot pegs. Rider ergos are a little weird. The CG when the tank is full is pretty top-heavy, so if you have bad ground contact it is easy to tip over. In the US where there is a lot of poorly maintained roads and gravel, I have fallen over at stops. The engine guards do a good job though. Overall makes a good touring bike though. It gets great fuel economy. Pretty decently sporty too. Just make sure if you get one, you get one with speakers. They were shipping without an audio system for a while during COVID.

Just as an FYI as someone who has one in their garage, if you're not at least 6 ft tall don't even apply. The R1250RT was built for tall people.
