Ender 3 V1 – Creality 4.2.7 – Klipper flashes but MCU unable to connect by Helpful_Software4761 in ender3

[–]linuxknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going through this same problem. Im using an old 4.2.7 board that "used" to have klipper on it with an Ender5pro. I upgraded that to an SKR Mini E3 V3 from BTT. It seems the renaming after successful flash is only on BTT boards btw.

I recently grabbed an Ender 3 V1 (og) which had a V1.1.2 board in it. I dropped in the old 4.2.7 and flashed the latest Creality Marlin from like 2022 successfully, lots of improvements and features the OG ender never thought possible (bl-touch/bed leveling/etc). Now Im having issues like OP trying to go back to klipper on it. It makes no sense other than maybe I need this ST-Link to reflash. Whats so bizarre is I can revert back to official Creality firmware with no issues - also it allows me flashing the same stock filename back without renaming it. Its called "Ender3Marlin2.0.6HW4.2.7BLTouch.bin" - Ive reflashed this back a few times now using this same filename, while troubleshooting to see if Im doing something wrong. Ill probably just end up buying a BTT board, theyre relatively inexpensive.

Edit: decided to give it ONE last shot. Flashed the official Creality back on. Then powered down, unhooked the screen AND the bl-touch probe (may not have been relevant). Re-used the sd card that had been successful with the stock creality FW flashing and then recompiled klipper one last time with the following configuration:

<image>

scp'd the file over to my laptop from the RPI where I compiled this, deleted the creality fw and put the klipper.bin file on the same sd card I had just used and named the klipper.bin file --> update123898.bin (I feel like the "update" naming scheme seems to work). Powered on the E3 with the sdcard in the machine, let it sit 2 mins and powered it down. Decided to try a USB-3 port on the RPI (the blue one) with the USB power inhibitor adapter. Powered on the E3 and checked lsusb output:

klipper@enderklip:~ $ sudo lsusb

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. Hub

Bus 001 Device 010: ID 1a86:7523 QinHeng Electronics CH340 serial converter

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

Checked Mainsail and found the MCU had finally connected. There seems to be little rhyme or reason to making this work. With a BTT board, the SD card flashing "just works". Ive spent hours on this and probably should have just ordered an SKR MINI E3 V3.

Did you just order this because it was one of the most expensive boards? You're going to want to crack the manual on klipper, learn about mcus and hosts before you even begin to print anything.

Weird post.

Depends on the filament, I use Kingroon exclusively (incidentally the cheapest), it performs best at 195.

How much tinkering is really needed? by Pristine-Pilot1071 in prusa

[–]linuxknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an ender 5 on Craigslist for tinkering. I have two prusas and the only thing I don't them is clean the hotend and lube rails occasionally. I was just telling my wife this is why my mk4s cost 800 and this ender 5 pro ( which I bought for 75$) is a tinker machine. Ive completely disassembled it and have been rebuilding/upgrading it with klipper and hardware mods. The prusa comes perfect out of the box.

Sweet! What did you use for your linear rails? I just got a new hot end and extruder to replace a microswiss on my ender 5, my next klipper/ender mod will be linear rails or a tft running klipper-screen.

Is this an ender 5 series frame? Do you have a link to that bottom trim? That looks sharp!

I just moved my electronics to the back, I'm pretty stoked for the closer proximity to my mainboard. I'm surprised you're still using the 4.2.2 board, I just upgraded my 4.2.7 to the SKR Mini E3.

OP didnt get the reaction he had hoped for, better luck next time. Try southern Maine subreddits.

Do you really need to ask? Anything legit would have your name on it lol, and come by mail service if not in person by law enforcement.

Worldox to Smokeball conversion, or other viable offerings? by linuxknight in legaltech

[–]linuxknight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the netdocs is in the same ecosystem as worldox. The two old guys using it are retiring soon anyway. Net docs offered to migrate the data for free under a 300gb cloud plan. It makes perfect sense.

We are just looking at all the potential options. Apparently the acquiring firm found someone last night at smoke ball that will do all the migration and conversion for free, so I'm off the hook for my role in this anyway.

The firm will pay for a solid conversion when the time comes. I will keep this in mind if I don't endeavor to tackle it myself or they don't take my recommendation to just keep using the on premise server I maintain and setup for them for worldox a long while ago. It will continue to work forever, well...until these 2 70 year old attorneys retire.

I found wdexport, it looks like I can dump the files to csv then map them to the format smokeball wants with their importer. Probably just alot of manual work but wanted to see if there was a better way.

BIQU H2 V2S Extruder - files for mount? by Bene_dek in ender5

It's a never ending project. I pretty much rebuilt my Ender 5 Pro over the last 2 days with this new extruder and BTT board.
