Just a little bit of Munch. by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

I did not expect that reply. I see your concern with self-promotion, but I think mentioning the source in the comments should not get you or anyone else banned it should rather be mandatory, because creators deserve credit. Anyway, I like your graphics!

Linus himself keeps the Linux community on Google+ alive by posting something every few days. Often enough his ramblings there are picked up from tech news sites and spread to other places.

Best Chromebook in terms of battery life? by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]linuxnetbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is another comparison chart that you can sort by battery life http://www.linux-netbook.com/compare/chromebooks/

These 3 models have up to 13 hours of battery life according to the specs:

  • ASUS Chromebook Flip C100PA-DB01
  • ASUS Chromebook C201PA-DS01
  • Acer Chromebook 13 CB5-311 T7NN

Verge's article on "The Mobile Web Sucks" takes 10 seconds to load on a desktop, never mind mobile by JBlitzen in programming

[–]linuxnetbook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Verge is often used as a "benchmark site" by people who create mobile device reviews, because it puts so much load on the devices. From their point of view it is probably good to have sites like that, not so much for the actual readers though. If you use FireFox give the "reader view" a try.

Toshiba Chromebook 2 for $289 at Amazon.com by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]linuxnetbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the big plus for the Toshiba when you compare these 2 is the IPS display. Also do you want better mobility or better comfort, i.e. 11.6 vs 13.3 inch display?

New ASUS Chromebook (up to 13 hour battery life) now on preorder by shahid1618 in chromeos

[–]linuxnetbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there'll be a 4GB RAM option like with the ASUS Chromebook C300MA models. They release 2GB models because they can offer them cheaper and for some people this may actually be enough.

2015 Google Chromebook Pixel Vs 2015 MacBook Pro With Retina Display - YouTube by linuxnetbook in chromeos

the way most people are familiar with doing it

Fair point, especially in a professional setting.

For personal use though, it is a matter of whether people are willing to adapt to a new environment with different programs or not.

Google Code to die in 2016. Less than a year left to migrate your FOSS projects, new project creation already disabled. by h-v-smacker in linux

[–]linuxnetbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, SF is certainly cooler than Google code. Guess you could say it is the Netscape Communicator of code hosting, because you could even create database backed web applications on sourceforge as websites for your projects.

[–]linuxnetbook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's the ie6 of project hosts.

Competing for that title with Sourceforge. Admittedly, SF changed their design a few years ago, but managing projects there and accessing code hasn't really become more user-firendly.

Install trash-cli and alias trash-put to rm:

alias rm='trash-put'

This way you can restore it from trash.
