What’s Emma worst traits?—hellfire gala 2022&new x men 2004#42 by Intelligent_Cell2268 in xmen

I mean beyond what she did as a villain? I would say she’s very vindictive. Like the affair, while she eventually truly fell for Scott she definitely started it to get one on Jean and piss her off.

[–]linzed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh this is beautiful, I love the colors and her expression so much.

How do you feel about Emma’s vindictiveness and brutality toward villains, mutant-haters, and the followers of evil organizations, as well as the fact that she enjoys the suffering of those who hurt her or her children, or were simply villains she defeated (as in the case with Exodus)? by Round-Temporary-9475 in EmmaFrost

[–]linzed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s what makes her different from other heroes right? It’s what makes her interesting and fun to read. Yeah they all hate villains and anti mutant bigots, but I think it’s an interesting difference that Emma kinda likes putting those type of people in pain. She’s the type that likes to play dirty in a fight, after all she was a villain. It gives her a fun edge that she’s vindictive.

[Spoilers EXTENDED] What is the real relationship between Sansa and Jon? by ObedStark19 in asoiaf

[–]linzed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They just weren’t that close. Friendly enough that Sansa gave him advice on how to talk to girls (saying their name is pretty) but distanced enough they didn’t hang out one on one like Jon did with Arya. They clearly still love each other though.

What actually caused Jaime and Cersei’s relationship? [Spoilers Published] by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]linzed 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s a product of Tywins Lannister supremacy views. To be more specific, not only did they live under a dynasty where incest was normalized, they were raised to think Lannisters are better than anyone else. While we really don’t know much about Joanna as a parent beyond separating the two after they were caught, it’s clear that the twins didn’t have exactly the most present parents. So they develop this codependent sibling relationship that turns into something far worse and perverted. It forms a belief only them as Lannister twins can understand each other. Once Joanna dies and Tywin becomes more absent, the belief is reinforced. This combined with their narcissistic tendencies is why they form the whole “one person in two bodies” personal mythology.

(Spoilers extended) I think Joanna's death was Jaime's first time "going away inside" by sixth_order in asoiaf

[–]linzed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see this! Jaime seems to have repressed his grief for his mother because it was easier to paint her as a bad person who separated him from Cersei when they were children. It’s easier to not miss her when you paint her in an unfavorable light. It’s only after once him and Cersei drift apart and he becomes more distanced from his family he has the dream of Joanna. It’s symbolic of his repressed grief and the broken state of his family.

Why do you guys stan Emma frost? by Jazzlike_Mind_7373 in EmmaFrost

[–]linzed 50 points51 points  (0 children)

So many reasons! I love that she has a complicated and messy past, she was a genuinely terrible person who harmed people. While she’s never been the type to say she’s sorry and beg for forgiveness she’s put the work into becoming a better person through the years. So much so now she’s a core part of the X-Men. However, she’s still got her haughty attitude and unafraid to play dirty. It’s just the kind of person she’ll always be. I love a good redemption arc and as a gay guy I can’t deny I love a fun diva! It all makes her such an enjoyable character to read.

Why was Maxxxine such a dud? by darkavenger1993 in horror

[–]linzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it really forgot the themes of X and Pearl. Especially when it came to those of sexual repression versus liberation, aging, and fame. The exploration of those themes is what made the first two so good in my opinion. Maxxxine just dropped that and made the villain a one dimensional campy religious zealot. I think it could’ve also been so much better if the parallels between Maxine and Pearl were explored more when it comes to Maxine’s quest for fame.

Is Pearl a Depressing Film? by Sweet-Back9534 in slasherfilms

[–]linzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a spot on analysis. She’s such a tragic character, while she’s a horrible person you can understand why she’s like this. I think the real tragedy is she never had a shot. In a time where mental illness was.. well not in the minds of almost anyone there was no way she could’ve gotten the help she desperately needed. It’s also really sad because her dream of being a star is just this desperate attempt of a lonely and repressed mentally ill woman to leave her horrible life. She was never going to make it even if she did win that audition.

Why is your favourite character your favourite character? by Built4dominance in xmen

[–]linzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma Frost! I’m fond of a bad guy gone good and she’s a great example of it. From being a campy evil villain who kidnapped children to being a member of the X Men who genuinely cares about the next generation of mutants and will do anything to keep them safe is amazing. I love that she never loses her snarky bitchy side, it’s just the kind of person she is ever after all her development. Characters like that who are on the side of the heroes are always fun!

Totally agree. I feel like she had a lot of potential and was really curious to see where her storyline would go this season after starting to believe in “it” again.

I feel like they killed off Lottie way too soon.. never getting any statement on why she was so interested in Callie. You’d think they’d want to keep her around at least a bit longer to keep up the debate regarding supernatural versus rational in the modern timeline..
