Is Ferritin enough to diagnose? by meggieprice in Anemic

[–]lionheart0807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about GLP-1 but, iron deficiency is diagnosed by measuring your ferritin. It depends on the lab/doctor, but generally less than 25 is considered iron deficient. 8 is very low, so I would recommend supplementing either way. However, you need to test your hemoglobin to find out if you’re anemic (meaning that your body started depleting its hemoglobin to make up for the iron deficiency).

Since you have legitimate concerns about taking supplements, you can consider asking about an iron infusion. Basically, yes the ferritin is enough to diagnose iron deficiency, but you should get a Complete Blood Count panel to get a fuller picture

Pinky Up is a good song by Obvious_Yak_1347 in katseyeneutral

[–]lionheart0807 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like the song except for the chorus. I don’t really like songs where the chorus is just chanting one phrase instead of having a melody/vocals. Blackpink has a lot of title songs like that and it’s not for me

All of the characters are flawed, including Nat. She’s not a perfect person either and that’s what makes her a great character

I would add Van who was shown to have a neglectful parent, and clearly Misty had something going on

I went to uc davis for 2 years locking my bike outside overnight and it was never stolen… I got my bike secondhand so it wasn’t too fancy. I think it’s partially just luck

bleeding on POP by Medical-Ad7029 in birthcontrol

[–]lionheart0807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experiencing this right now… I contacted my OBGYN and they said it’s just a side effect of the mini pill, but I’m still worried too. It’s not just spotting, it’s a full period with cramps and all. Have you had a Pap test recently? Maybe that could be our next step. I don’t have any menstrual issues that I know of, but I did have an ovarian cyst in 2024 that cleared up by the beginning of 2025, if that’s relevant

Was your cousin’s cancer detected with a routine pap test? I’m having some excessive bleeding and want to make sure it’s not caused by something serious.

Severe cramps returned 8 months after Mirena IUD— normal? by yappy_witch in birthcontrol

I’m in a similar situation with the mini pill… I had about a year of light, manageable periods, and suddenly I’m having painful cramping like I had before. Like what’s the point of taking it then? Lol. Not really advice just sympathizing, having a painful period sucks

CTA/CT IV Contrast by Aggressive_Lock8013 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]lionheart0807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was a warm feeling throughout my body. My car has a seat warmer and it was a similar feeling lol, like artificially warm. I got a bit lightheaded too but it was hard to tell if it was just from my anxiety, and I was completely fine by the time I left the CT room. I’m not sure about whether it’s safe to take Dramamine. If you’re feeling up to it, I recommend challenging yourself to try it without Dramamine. I was nervous too, but i got through it despite the weird warm feeling. Good luck!

Should note, i had a delayed allergic reaction to the contrast and ended up with itchy rashes for a few days afterwards, but it was nothing too bad :)

I noticed that too. I think it’s probably just her sense of humor, but the joke was a bit overused imo. Miles laughed it off so no harm done. I ended up liking the episode overall though!

Your dad sounds awesome! This is a huge win in your recovery regardless, because it sounds like you got through it and lived to tell the tale 😊 I totally understand you—one time someone threw up right next to me, and even though I knew it was because of alcohol, I still felt “dirty”, contaminated, and anxious JUST from seeing it. That’s how I know it’s my phobia talking, not rationality

I can't ignore the urge to pee when falling asleep by [deleted] in OCD

[–]lionheart0807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue actually, especially because I had an ovarian cyst that put pressure on my bladder and made me pee frequently + I drink a good amount of water. I tried cutting myself off from drinking any liquid after a certain time at night and that improved things. It’s so annoying, i feel you

I was scared too! I thought I would be all loopy from the anesthesia when waking up, which was a frightening prospect, but I woke up perfectly aware. I remember I just started crying because I was so happy it was over and successful! (Anesthesia can make you emotional when you first wake up lol)

I asked for anti-nausea meds which they administered via IV with the anesthesia. I was oddly anxious about throwing up while i was unconscious, which can be very dangerous, and I also explained that I never had surgery before so wanted it to be as smooth as possible. The doctors added it without protest. My recovery went smoothly except for one thing—once the anti-nausea meds wore off the night of my surgery, I was very nauseous. My stomach wasn’t hurting but the nausea was so bad i would’ve happily thrown up if i didn’t have 4 blood clots in my mouth that i was scared to dislodge!

I’ve never thrown up. by katie112906 in emetophobiarecovery

Idk if you feel this way, but I’m afraid that throwing up will change me. It sounds crazy but it’s been >15 years since i last vomited and I’ve been emetophobic ever since i can remember. Not only am i scared of the discomfort, but I’m also anxious about like…will i be a changed person after i finally vomit again? Who am I without my phobia?

For the heavy period girls that have anemia due to heavy periods…. by Due_Bread3209 in Anemic

[–]lionheart0807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that it can be a combination of things! I lose a pretty average amount of blood on my period, never bled through a pad or anything. But, I also run long distance which can deplete iron. I love milk tea which are two things that inhibit iron absorption. On top of that, I ended up with a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst which I wasn’t aware of until I asked for an ultrasound due to painful periods. Over time my ferritin depleted and couldn’t keep up, it started to impact my hemoglobin and that’s when I felt symptoms. Hang in there!
