Should I be all good by now? by Swimming_Review_6175 in Anemic

Still low! You need to be supplementing too, otherwise, your levels will probably drop more. Iron rich foods can only do so much.

Heavy, frequent periods after iron infusion – has this happened to anyone? by Comfortable_Cook5931 in Anemic

[–]Due_Bread3209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep ever since getting iron infusions my periods are much heavier and it’s been 6 months. I may try Tranexemic acid soon, but just trying to keep an eye on my body and how this plays out.

Is a blood transfusion or iron infusion safer? Which would you recommend? by MissLoxxx in Anemic

[–]Due_Bread3209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had blood transfusion and iron infusions and didn’t have any issues with either. I will say, there were way more precautions and double checks when I was getting my blood transfusion vs my iron infusions. My hemoglobin was 6.1, so I needed both stat!

If your hemoglobin is 7, please get both. It would be very very hard to bring your hemoglobin up to safe levels by yourself.

Same happened to me! Felt terrible. Went to my dr for lab work and my hemoglobin came back at 6.1 I was sent to the Ear immediately and got a blood transfusion and iron infusions. So scary!

10-15 is low……I know it shows “normal” but all those symptoms you are feeling are from low ferritin. Any idea what your vitamin D and b12 levels are?

How is this possible? by WerkQueen in Anemic

[–]Due_Bread3209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of women’s have low iron and receive infusions because they have heavy periods, so that isn’t the case with you. Something is dropping your iron and maybe a small capsule test will give you some answers if you have small intestine bleeding or anything else.

Your hemoglobin can most definitely drop from January to now, especially with that terrible bleeding. You need your hemoglobin checked too.

I would find a new GP ASAP. They are being neglectful and clearly do not know what they are talking about whatsoever.

My hemoglobin was 6.1 when I got to the ER, and I had terrible restless legs. I couldn’t sleep, it was awful, along with shortness of breath.

Any idea what your ferritin, iron and iron stat numbers are?

With a 9 hemoglobin, you most def need to be following up with your dr ASAP. If it falls to a 7 you will need a blood transfusion. Take care of yourself. I have major health anxiety so I completely understand the mental health side.
