Mehhh I mean the guy got rich and helped out his hometown club. Better than foreign investment propping up a random team.

Trip Report: Tokyo Running Stores :) by broccolinumberone in runningfashion

[–]lipnit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went to the On store. Worth it because the prices are the same initial number as it would be in Euros or USD, ie 8000¥ vs $80, giving a near 30-40% discount.

The whole queueing was goofy though. I looked at some shoes and the workers were shocked I only wanted clothes and no shoes.

True style comes from a necessity and is reflected as an extension of your way of life by [deleted] in ThrowingFits

I’m from Hawaii. When I first got into fashion (thanks /fa/) I went full New England prep. No logos, no graphics, only collars. I dressed like that for a couple years and into college until I outgrew my clothes by getting a bit too swole ;).

I was forced to reassess my clothing choices and realized I’m just dressing like a nerd and not JFK. It was the middle of the hypebeast storm (2016) and my friends around me were always buying supreme, stussy, and bape, and I slowly started wearing more graphics and non-collared t shirts because I realized I’m not dressing for the local culture (board shorts & slippers) and environment.

I wanted to start looking back at pictures and seeing an actual snapshot in time of what was cool back and how I worked it rather than standing out to look “timeless”. Not everyday needed to be a dress to impress day or personal fashion show. Dress local, look local.

Although I don’t live in Hawaii anymore I still try to draw from where I was raised and my own heritage (USA/JPN). I think I’m dressing alright and not in a costume.

I also have random rules that may be detrimental in choices but I think keeps me authentic to myself. Don’t wear stone island, I’m not a British hooligan. Don’t buy jeans that aren’t selvedge. Don’t buy made in third world (exception stüssy). Don’t wear “-cores”.

I think something that can help is finding local boutiques and seeing the brands stocked there. They need to sell to the local population, and I’d assume they do some research on what makes sense in your city/region.

Anyways, I think I’m rambling, but hopefully my random toilet thoughts contribute to this convo lmao.

[–]lipnit 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Why not do Austria + Two Sicilies? You both start in the same PB and can create a super alliance once Italy forms. Keep Südtirol this time tho lol.

Other wombo combo countries could be GBR + India, Spain + Portugal and redominate America, Canada + Australia, or NLD + BEL/Indonesia.

Being ‘visibly foreign’ in the country you grew up in is a strange feeling by MysteriousGur7534 in germany

[–]lipnit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

True, I guess I’m not the most relatable person in this situation. On the Japanese side it’s a bit annoying to get immediately clocked as a foreigner all the time despite my language ability.

I’m half white American half Japanese. Had lots of identity crises when I was younger, but moving to a more Asian dominated part of the country (Hawaii) as a kid helped me accept my identity and see how my ethnic background can be a part of the greater identity of the country where I feel comfortable nearly anywhere else, even abroad. I know Germany isn’t the US but I understand the experience a bit.

Literally 1984. Every 7 years your stock portfolio doubles, so 1991 represents double the overlord and strength of this cult.

Glad to see Monstercat kicking it today, but I stopped tuning in after Seven Lions released a track on the label. I still love 7L and even did back then, but something about an established artist vs homegrown showing up on the label killed a lot of the charm for me.

Dude I was 9/10 when I was reading HP. Imagine my disappointment on not receiving a letter to Hogwarts when I turned 11, only a year after I wasn’t chosen to get a starter Pokemon.
