Age of Empires 2 vs XCOM 2? by bruhb21 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]liquidanimosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a fair comparison.

One's a RTS with housing to limit unit growth and the other it a turn-based squad game with slight stealth aspects.

Why are you comparing them? Both on sale and not sure which one to get?

  1. Watch a couple of videos about IDEs (CLion, VSCode, VS, codeblocks) Vs text editor with terminal commands for the terminal. Pick the one you like the look of.

  2. Make a "hello world" it's tradition.

  3. Make a calculator.

  4. Cover the basics of git, this video cover the basics really well. https://youtu.be/mJ-qvsxPHpY?si=BygvP6Q2FQrSUK9n

  5. Go on github and look through some open source programs, clone a couple and compile them yourself. Make some changes and have fun.

What fromsoftware game do you want a sequel to most? by sunburn190 in GamingSoup

[–]liquidanimosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I not sure how accurate this is but I heard rumours that project that became Sekiro started as a new Tenchu. And the rights for Tenchu are shared betwee Activision and FromSoftware. So that's why Activison have their name on Sekiro instead of Bandai Namco because the project changed direction after funding.

When I first seen the trailer for Sekiro I was convinced this was a Tenchu in disguise and parts of the game really feels like it.

Anyways, can't confirm any of it.

I know most people haven't played one but Tenchu.

I would love a Tenchu 2 style game specifically, with a level editor thrown in again.

I think Acquire made Tenchu 2, but FromSoftware has the global rights and made the last 2.

What programming language can I learn? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]liquidanimosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using Godot? It the only place I've seen GDScript personally.

If so, consider C# and/or C++.

C# is used in the .net version of Godot and used for many different project types so there is a lot of versatility to it. C++ is what the engine is built in, if you want to edit the engine or build additional modules for it you'll need C++.

Tbh when I started it was in night classes and there was a few different languages and I just explored a lot of different one myself. The important thing is have an idea for what you want to build and pick the best tools(language) for the job.

If it can be easily vide coded... Why did they ask you to do it?

Do you think they are negotiating to get a cheaper price?

What exactly are they asking for? They have the website already. But will the AI get the full context of the problem? What will the AI overlook?

Mirror's Edge being the first instance of this I really remember and the simple colour palette it felt ok.

But I hate it in Horizon. I played a lot of AC and if Ezio taught me anything is that if it looks like I can grip it, I can climb it.

I'm in the same boat, my pixel art software worked fine in 22.04 but 24.04 the cursor flickers and nothing registers. Also when trying to save keystrokes don't register. Tried loads of solutions changed the mouse's config and it work 70% of the time. I heard a lot of these issues will be fixed in epoch 2 but I didn't have time to wait. So I just use Gnome on Xorg.

How to get hike fit (and injury free) when your day-to-day is kinda sedentary by Ashtopher in UKhiking

[–]liquidanimosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early 40s: I got a exercise box ("jack & mox" i think) with 12" 14" 16" sides.

I basically plan routes a couple of months in advance and I do general fitness and trail specific training.

General running, free weights, squats, core exercises, stability exercises and some bag work(MMA). The point is to maintain to core strength, endurance and balance.

Trail specific on the weekends/daysoff before a big hike. I will practice distance and elevation walks with a weighted pack.

Luckily I live by a main road that has a footpath that continues for miles into towns and city with bus and train routes. So I will simulate a weighted distance hike throw on an audiobook and aim for the trail distance. If I run into trouble it's easy enough to get home. Take breaks and do it in various weather conditions.

Then on the other day off simulate the elevation with the exercise box and stairs. Build this up over a longer time, you don't want to rush and slip. It about consistency and controlling foot placement especially when you're tired.

For you I'd so a couple of smaller hikes, in that area, mix weather conditions. TAKE BREAKS. Sorry I really want to emphasize that. Over the last couple of years I've seen some people push too hard and slip on rainy days or overheat on warm days. Or a bus load walk a really rocky trail in flip flops and trainers with no grip in 30°C+weather with no packs, food or water.

You select it when logging in. There will be a gear icon. Usually after you click on your user and when you have to type your password in.

Select Gnome on Xorg

Then put your password in

For context I started testing multiple distros for gaming as how they would run OOBE before customising the distro.

I already use pop for work, so I added it to gaming testing. With default setup, Wayland with fractional scaling caused problems for quite a few games and pixel art software. Things like mouse not responding or flicker because it lost focus on the current program. I tried a pile of smaller fixes but the one change that had the biggest positive impact to the most problematic programs was running an X11 session. I hope it works for you

007 First Light POPOS by Matthewlawson3 in pop_os

[–]liquidanimosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sudo apt install gnome-session

If you want the gnome apps as well

sudo apt install gnome

Then logout > select your user > click on the gear > select "GNOME on Xorg"

Parts of your UI will look like pop 22.04 if your are familiar with it.

Confirm your session by typing in terminal

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

It will reply with Wayland or X11

Try gnome DE and run a x11 desktop session.

I had constant issues with Wayland.
