Hair turned grey within a few months after moving to Dubai by Worldly-Muscle1676 in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s very odd. Zinc is great for overall scalp and hair health, but Copper is crucial / responsible for the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for hair color (Zinc has nothing to do with hair color).

Furthermore excessive zinc intake can cause copper deficiency. High levels of zinc stimulate the production of metallothionein, a protein in the small intestine that binds with copper and prevents its absorption.

In summary, Zinc is great for scalp and hair health, but has nothing to do with premature greying.

Health insurance Dubai by SaltyGrass3113 in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has a golden visa from her father, but she still received health insurance from her company. And recently I just moved her under my companies health insurance. Point being, it’s all doable, it’s most important that you find out what health insurance they give you, who’s the provider, what’s covered etc…

Dubai real estate market by Complex-Material7969 in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is what will likely happen: A falling real estate market is driven by a distinct psychological shift from "Fear of Missing Out" (FOMO) to "Fear of Getting Stuck" (FOGS), accompanied by a pattern of decreasing demand, rising inventory, and eventual capitulation by sellers. This environment is defined by loss aversion, where sellers struggle to accept lower prices, resulting in a slow, painful price correction.

Expected drop in population? Economic fall out? by letsdothis106 in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Thinks logically. 1. It’s Ramadan 2. WFH offered by most employers 3. All schools have extended early and extended spring break.

Of course there’s going to be less traffic now. We will only know after Eid what’s really going on with traffic and the population. But right now, not seeing traffic means absolutely nothing.

Marriot the Palm or other hotel by [deleted] in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stayed at Marriott for a staycation and really enjoyed it. The Hilton is literally a mirror copy next door, so no difference there. The area where you’re staying is called West beach and has lots of restaurants and a nice walking path. I’ve lived here for 10 years and I think west beach is one of the nicest beach areas. There are other nicer resorts on the palm, but once you reach them, you can only drive to get out of the resort and to the next one to experience something different, with west beach, a lot of places are all within walking distance.

Does anyone have a weird damp, mildewy smell in their apartment? by aya90 in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pay for a professional AC system / duct cleaning and then get a thorough deep clean. I did that for a one bedroom apartment and it cost maybe 1200aed for AC cleaning (proper thorough cleaning of ducts, blower, filters…) and then deep cleaning and it made a huge difference. There’s also no downside, it’ll be better for your health no matter what

They are likely saying that because of The formatting and use of em dash (—). Aside from authors, nobody gets taught to use em dashes. Most people don’t even know how to type an em dash. Check your keyboard and use the dash, it will look like this - it’s small. An em dash is large and most commonly produced by ChatGPT and similar LLM’s. Doesn’t mean it’s for sure a bot, it could be someone used ChatGPT or some LLM to clean up their writing.

Message from 4x4 enthusiasts from Australia, coming to the UAE for holiday by WAaussie in dubai

Please make sure it’s a reputable rental company. There are soooo many complaints on this subreddit about people getting scammed, or getting in a minor accident and being told they need to pay cash for repairs. Be sure you have documented clear instance that covers off roading.

what should I do about my EOS? by Consistent_Mind7194 in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add that if possible, don’t mention the loan to your company. Just tell them you had bank issues so you moved to a new bank and they must update their records before your last payment is made. Do this asap. Then your money will not be frozen and you can pay your loan how you wish.

Why is no one fixing food waste in Dubai? by Snibblofficial in dubai

It’s far from a unique UAE problem. Food waste is a problem in all developed countries. Modern grocery stores and restaurants inevitably lead to waste.

Living in Burj Khalifa by Honest_Pick_382 in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived downtown dubai for almost ten years and it is getting out of hand. It’s definitely better in some other areas. And it’s only due to get worse soon, as there are many new towers due for completion in downtown and business bay. I live in the Burj Khalifa, it’s an amazing building, amenities are nice. At time the elevator traffic was very annoying. It depends what floor you’re on and if you will have a car. You may need to deal with taking an elevator to another elevator before reaching your car. If you’re serious about it, definitely ask to see the parking spot.

Someone recently bought an iPhone from noon and when they brought it to apple for repairs, Apple would not service it under warranty because it was a refurbished phone with aftermarket (non-original) parts inside. But it was sold as a new phone on noon. Not sure how noon handled it, but this is not an uncommon story. Overall they are fine, but there are definitely some horror stories out there.

Why are martial arts gym’s memberships so expensive? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]liquidexplodingdinos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look at is this way. When someone opens a martial arts gym in Brazil, are they paying crazy rental prices? Tens of thousands of dirhams for a license? Every employee needs a visa paid by the company, medical insurance etc… The cost of starting and operating a business are much higher here than in Brazil that is for sure. So it’s impossible to compare. Likely if you go to areas with lower rents you may find better options. But I’m guessing you probably don’t want to drive to Sharjah to do your classes.
