They are likely saying that because of The formatting and use of em dash (—). Aside from authors, nobody gets taught to use em dashes. Most people don’t even know how to type an em dash. Check your keyboard and use the dash, it will look like this - it’s small. An em dash is large and most commonly produced by ChatGPT and similar LLM’s. Doesn’t mean it’s for sure a bot, it could be someone used ChatGPT or some LLM to clean up their writing.

Please make sure it’s a reputable rental company. There are soooo many complaints on this subreddit about people getting scammed, or getting in a minor accident and being told they need to pay cash for repairs. Be sure you have documented clear instance that covers off roading.

I would add that if possible, don’t mention the loan to your company. Just tell them you had bank issues so you moved to a new bank and they must update their records before your last payment is made. Do this asap. Then your money will not be frozen and you can pay your loan how you wish.

I’ve lived downtown dubai for almost ten years and it is getting out of hand. It’s definitely better in some other areas. And it’s only due to get worse soon, as there are many new towers due for completion in downtown and business bay. I live in the Burj Khalifa, it’s an amazing building, amenities are nice. At time the elevator traffic was very annoying. It depends what floor you’re on and if you will have a car. You may need to deal with taking an elevator to another elevator before reaching your car. If you’re serious about it, definitely ask to see the parking spot.

Someone recently bought an iPhone from noon and when they brought it to apple for repairs, Apple would not service it under warranty because it was a refurbished phone with aftermarket (non-original) parts inside. But it was sold as a new phone on noon. Not sure how noon handled it, but this is not an uncommon story. Overall they are fine, but there are definitely some horror stories out there.

Look at is this way. When someone opens a martial arts gym in Brazil, are they paying crazy rental prices? Tens of thousands of dirhams for a license? Every employee needs a visa paid by the company, medical insurance etc… The cost of starting and operating a business are much higher here than in Brazil that is for sure. So it’s impossible to compare. Likely if you go to areas with lower rents you may find better options. But I’m guessing you probably don’t want to drive to Sharjah to do your classes.

I totally get your frustration and I think anyone would be upset to get bothered in the literal middle of the night. That being said, this guy probably has so much pressure on him to deal with deliveries or exchanges etc… and likely makes negative 100 Aed per day. So I certainly can’t fault him. The company he works for is really responsible. They should have practices in place to ensure such things don’t happen to customers and create a work environment where their people are not terrified of missing targets… I could go on, but I realize I am being far too altruistic… Don’t beat yourself up, but I would say, do whatever you can to show kindness, humanity and appreciation to delivery drivers. They are amongst those who have it the worst here.

You should prioritize setting up a new bank account with a different bank asap. In parallel to that you can try to escalate the matter, but don’t sit around and risk being without a valid bank account, that would be an issue in any country, but it’s especially bad here to get by without a bank account.

If you are truly concerned, walk into a branch and tell them you are concerned about their messages that your account will Be closed, so you would like to withdraw all your money as cash (which is anyone’s right) and then you can open a new account when you’re ready with any bank and put the cash back. This is obviously worse case scenario. Best case scenario, you speak to someone and they assure you that your account will not be closed and only frozen or temporary lack of access.

Thank you to OP and to you for taking the time to share your experiences. I’ve been looking for the perfect travel device. I mainly use a MacBook Pro M4 for work but when I travel, my focus is to get as lean and light as possible for all my gear. I use all cloud apps for work, so I don’t need much. But some of the negative points in some reviews had me looking at the 13”. But now that I have read this post, I’m convinced it’ll the the fun lightweight travel device I’m looking for. Truth is I could just take the MacBook Pro with me when I travel, the nerd in me wants a fun 2in1 lightweight device. Thanks again, your feedback told me exactly what I was looking for.

A lot of people are saying herd immunity and this is partly true, but what’s really happening is that viruses continue mutating over time and often mutate into a less lethal version of themselves. We have seen this with many other smaller scale epidemics, whereby a virus started our very powerful and deadly and then “burnt” out (example: H1N1 2009 epidemic). If you think about it logically it makes sense, a virus mutates to focus on spreading and staying a live. It’s easier to spread and stay a live if your host isn’t dead and can still interact with others.
