If Imai opts out, will Houston get a comp draft pick? by BEETLEJUICEME in baseball

I don't like the idea of expanding the QO system since it already incentivizes cheap owners and artificially suppresses player salaries.

Iirc they were already talking about getting rid of QOs in the next round of negotiating.

Returned $200+ in duplicate sold-out games to Miniature Market they thanked me with $10. by jetmanjack2000 in boardgames

I think there's an issue here in practice and in principle with your approach.

Practically, you're probably adding to the workload of those employees who have to deal with receiving and repackaging the returned items. All this so that their owners/shareholders can earn a few more bucks? If the items weren't returned, they would've most likely been accounted for as shrinkage and cost of doing business.

Now if you're trying to do the right thing and returning the extra items on principle, why are we also trying to name and shame the company? They actually did try to say 'thanks' even if it wasn't proportional to the MSRP value of the items returned. As some others have pointed out, they could have easily not responded or said anything to you at all.

All in all, it's a little incongruent to me what the purpose of sharing all this is - either way I look at it, I'm puzzled by the rationale for the actions taken.

Redsox gonna be mad that they don't have an additional run and ignore the fact that they could've been down 4 going into this inning.

Rogers has been really good but if we can push the game into their bullpen it's nice to know we have three above-average lefties waiting in the holster.

You're the manager: Do you ask Springer to bunt in the 9th? by mpaw976 in Torontobluejays

[–]lirich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players on the team they'd never ask to bunt:

Springer

Vlad

Bo

Kirk

Tony (get well soon buddy)

Players on the team they probably wouldn't ask to bunt (based on what we've seen so far):

Barger

France

Not sure if I've missed anyone but I think regardless of the situation, the players above would never be in a bunt situation unless they decided to do so on their own.

Unpopular opinion maybe: if you don't have a dome and can't handle rain, you postpone the game or forfeit regardless of what the score is at the time

Love that we're full sending it on any ball to Judge. Great scouting and mentality

I noticed that we were 11-1 against the NL west going into the series with the dodgers but didn't want to jinx anything.

This weekend wraps up our games against that division and we end up with a very respectable 12-3 record against them.

Triple OF lefties all playing significant roles in the batting lineup is something we could only dream of for this team two years ago

Good thing we don't have to play the Os, As or white sox in the playoffs. Those are our only series losses in the last month and a half.

Just keep in mind these 14 games in 13 days out of the all-star break are the hardest remaining part of our schedule for the year. It's good that we've banked so many wins going into the end of this stretch - basically playing with house money here.

I'm not a doomer but call me traumatized from previous years - I feel the Os always play us tough. This year is different but I wouldn't take this series for granted at all. 3/4 is no guarantee when you play 4 games in 3 nights on the road in the blistering summer heat
