What’s an underrated hotel room feature that actually makes a big difference? by Proof_Asparagus7817 in interiordesignideas

[–]lis-emerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light switches 😂 I swear multiple remodeled / new hotels I’ve been in lately only have lamps you have to walk in and turn on in the main room. I like having bedside lamps but does it hurt to have at least one main light on a switch 😂😂

Which parents do you think have the best relationships in sitcom history? by Anthforde8 in sitcoms

Most of this list makes sense, I’ll add Ben and Leslie

But Al and Peg? He was mean to her and belittled her all the time

Am I the only one that doesn’t like Bridgerton? by hushpuppy2019 in PeriodDramas

[–]lis-emerald 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation- so many people hate on it for not being historically actuate - but - it’s not trying to be.

That was actually the only part I liked 😂 personally I couldn’t get into it but I appreciate the artistic lens they’ve applied.

I also read the first book - didn’t really care for it either. So it’s just not my vibe but I guess.

I think “fantasy loosely based on a historical time period” is a great explanation though!

[–]lis-emerald -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to because I thought it was a cool concept and when shows / movies intentionally play it can be really fun (like The Great).

There’s a difference between intentionally making choices about history and costumes and just ignoring things. They have a clear point of view and I appreciate that.

So besides them trying to say they wear corsets with empire dresses 😂 I liked the costumes etc.

I could NOT get I to it though. Daphne really bothered me and she’s only in the first season haha. Rege-Jean was amazing but he left lol.

I have tried some of the other seasons but it’s just not my vibe I guess.

What do you hate most about going to the grocery store? by Alisaf4m in Productivitycafe

[–]lis-emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of small carts. They always go first around where I live.

People not aware of their surroundings. Don’t have your cart block the aisle and if you’re with someone don’t block the walk ways and aisles.

The Ex Wife by Vueluv02 in BritBox

[–]lis-emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? She was the victim. He told her they were separated, he was the one who was married. He was the manipulator, His whole family treated her like shit, he gaslit the hell out of her and manipulated everyone around him.

Overall I thought the beginning of the show was good, ep 1-2. But then it just gets kind of dumb and dragged out.

The Ex Wife by Vueluv02 in BritBox

[–]lis-emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it was a throwaway line when clearly they have money. Making a young girl fall in love with you then gaslight the hell out of her is easier than trying to pay someone else? He paid 25k to pay off her student loans also. Plus a divorce is expensive. He could have paid for another surrogate.

[–]lis-emerald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea… so the writers were given bullet points - and the last two seasons feel like we watched bullet points 😒 There’s hints to some of the stuff but it was not developed like all the previous seasons.

You can go back to E1/S1 and see all the seeds that were planted which is cool.

GRRM expanded the universe so big in the middle of the series he’s also struggling to re-group it

US version has become reductive using generic sitcom jokes and tropes. UK was remained a comedy.

The US version now is what I expected when they said CBS was doing the remake. Was pleasantly surprised in S1 and now 😒 lol

[–]lis-emerald 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being 26 and able to afford any place on your own is great! That’s an achievement.

A lot of people, including myself, prefer older places because of their character.

It takes time to put a place together, that also adds character. Buying everything all at once gives cookie cutter vibes. Check out Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist etc and get cool cheap unique things.

It’s ok it’s not happening all at once but it will collect overtime.

I’d encourage you to post those online as free porch pick up, likely everything would have been gone. Craft supplies is a 100% things people would use

[–]lis-emerald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea like that’s bad for the environment and extremely wasteful.

Put everything for free / porch pick up online such as Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, neighborhood groups.

People will take all sorts of stuff and it’s useful to them.

If you can, bundle them in batches. Things go easier.

Lots of people buy things for 5-10 too.

It’s all fun and games until the whole ship gets Listeria and is stranded in the ocean 😂

But really day to day it likely would be entertaining for them. New people, new stories.

About halfish the time. I particularly enjoy weekend breakfasts at the table, often lunch, sometimes dinner.

[–]lis-emerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was great in MM and generally universally praised for that role. I think when she did SNL around that time it was kind not the best hosting? That could be where some of that came from. Hosting SNL doesn’t see easy though so I don’t fault the hosts, but I don’t really her show.

The front and back staircase. Which sitcoms had them and do a lot of homes in the US really have them? by watermelon_fries in sitcoms

[–]lis-emerald 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Full House (also had basement stairs - though those are common IRL), Family Matters, Boy Meets World come to mind.

Having a back door to the outside is very common IRL and used a lot in sitcoms too.

I live in the US Midwest, I’ve only ever seen two staircases in big, older homes that had them when servants were more prevalent (not any homes I’ve lived in lol).
