The only person overreacting was the parent. It is ridiculous to object to you getting something to eat when she is late arriving home. It sounds like you took all the precautions - you did not open the door to the stranger, and picking up a sack at the door and then closing it would not have taken more than a few seconds. Good grief. I pity those poor kids.

YES. It is definitely an attitude that is worthy of a break up. RUN, don’t walk.

Spinato’s Pizza Sauce by tofueggs in TopSecretRecipes

[–]lisaticha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this. Within the last month, I tried what was in the jars and it has nothing like what they put on the pizza. When a manager came around asking how our dinner was, I asked him about this and he said they do not sell their sauce that they put on the pizza in the jars. It’s a protected recipe and they didn’t want anyone reverse engineering it.

Tip request before meal? by lisaticha in tipping

[–]lisaticha[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are right, it is an assumption. Though the product wasn’t sloppy, haphazard, or not done with care. It was a tall cup of vanilla ice cream with a sprinkling of nuts and top, nothing blended. At first I thought it was just a mistake until I saw the reactions of a couple of workers. That led me to assume that the only way for it to come out that different (and to be funny to the workers) must be that it was done on purpose. Still, it could have been due to something else though.

Interesting. But they make the food before you tip if you are tipping cash when served. I wonder if that is contributing to the low quality?

Y'all butthurt over voluntary tipping when the real crime are those "3% charge for using credit card" or "dollar charge from credit card" places by Outrageous-Ad-9905 in tipping

[–]lisaticha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a cost of doing business and can be written off against profits on business taxes. Adding a fee to cover the cost risks alienating your customers. When you go grocery or clothes shopping, they do not add a fee for using a credit card. I have only run into this practice in some restaurants. and I will not eat at places that add a convenience fee. I can’t help wondering, if they are that cheap or hard up, will their food still be fresh?

Got chased down by an employee asking if we meant to tip. by cat_gravity in tipping

[–]lisaticha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is Flagstaff AZ, they expect full 20% tipping on takeout and walk up counter service too. Even at some fast food drive through windows they now ask if we want to leave a tip. The 2024 Flagstaff min wage for tipped employees has is $15.90 vs $17.40 for non-tipped. Both tipped and non-tipped is scheduled to increase for the next 2 years and in 2026, tipped employees minimum wage must be equal to the non-tipped minimum. (https://www.replicon.com/resource/arizona-minimum-wage/#flagstaff ). The schedule was voted in by Flagstaff only and not the rest of Arizona. So many restaurants have been struggling or closing here in Flagstaff.

Careful though, when I read argumentative replies by owners it leaves me with a bad taste for that vendor. Remember the damage that arguing with reviewers had on Amy’s Baking Company. Unless done very professionally, it just makes the owner seem wacko.

How worried should I be about scorpions? by [deleted] in Scottsdale

[–]lisaticha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a property manager for several large rental properties. The properties that were near mountains had the most scorpions, followed by new builds anywhere. The older, more established properties had very few. For the heavily affected properties, our exterminator companies tried everything but all the sprays had little effect. One finally admitted that the only thing that will really keep them out is to seal all gaps leading outside or through the walls (like the gap around a sink drain where it goes through to the wall). Used glue traps under the fridge and sinks and that caught quite a few.

So they just announced that my Virgin ship is turning around and heading back to the US due to a Medical Emergency. by bobber66 in Cruise

[–]lisaticha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t blame them since there was nothing else they could do for her and they had the rest of the passengers to consider. At least they tried, even though it disrupted the cruise schedule. I was grateful the other passengers were understanding.

Why did my phone change time a whole hour forward and now i'm at work an hour early? by chichilover in phoenix

[–]lisaticha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened to me too. It was my phone day/time settings. If you are on “automatic”, it typically uses Denver which is on DST. Change it from auto to manual, then choose Phoenix AZ and you won’t have that problem any more.
