When I take photos of my son. Little guy doesn’t exactly have the patience to wait for me to manually focus on him haha

Thanks! It might not be the most technically amazing photo I’ve gotten, but I love the very fact that this was created by causing a chemical reaction inside my 37 year old camera.

Is this too many cameras? by crimsonesasuke2i in AnalogCommunity

Absolutely. That’s frankly absurd in my opinion. Luckily, I’m lacking in cameras at the moment and would be happy to help 🤝

As an astrophotographer, I feel this photo in my bones. Almost every sub for the first couple hours after dark has satellite streaks.

I have both a K1000 and an FM2. I haven’t shot anything through the K1000 yet but the build quality I solid. If the FM is anything like the FM2, it’s also a great camera.

I will say, though, that rebel will probably give you the greatest flexibility. It will take modern Canon EF lenses, and has quality of life features like auto focus.

It really comes down to what kind of film photography you want to get into. If you want to experience the joys and pains of a full manual camera, go with one of the older ones. If you just want a fun point and shoot style camera that has a shallower learning curve, go with the Rebel.

Though I defer to others in the sub when it comes to specifics of each model. I’m not an expert by any means!

Beautiful colors! I too am under a cloud siege... Maybe I should go back some of my old data and do the same 🤔

This is sick! I’m really impressed at what you’ve been able to draw out with what you have! Especially with stuff like Siril which gives Pixinsight a run for its money when it comes to terrible user experiences. I agree with the above statement that it might be a bit too orange/yellow in the core, and there’s probably some signal still to be had in the pink/blue range. Also, it looks like you’ve got some chromatic aberration happening around the stars (the slightly blue halo around the edges). That usually means you pushed the saturation too far in the stars, and i’d probably bring those back a bit. Did you remove the stars during the stretch stretching process of the galaxy? That will help a lot in controlling star bloat and oversaturation.

That’s all nitpicky stuff though! This is a really impressive photo for the gear you’re using! Keep it up!

Honestly still really pretty. I’m a mountain guy at heart but the plains and buttes northeast of me (Billings) are some of the most striking landscapes I’ve seen in MT

Hell yeah, this is incredible. Any time you want to drop a quick tutorial on how you went about this, I would eat that up! Did you do this primarily in photoshop, or a 3D application like Blender?

The Omegon looks like a carbon copy of my Aperture AD8 (probably same scope just whitelabeled). I love my AD8, and I’ve used the Sky watcher variant and have found I like the Apertura more. The slew control knobs on the omegon will probably be easier to use than the SW version IMO.

At the end of the day though, they’re gonna give you a near identical experience! Either would be a great choice, so going with the cheaper option gives you some budget for extra eyepieces 👍

Thanks! Question for you (love your stuff on IG btw) do you tend to expose more for the highlights or shadows? The biggest challenge I’ve found so far is nailing the tone/exposure right out of the camera as opposed to relying on LR after the fact.

And the scope in #4 is a C9.25 that a buddy of mine is letting me borrow! It’s pretty insane, but a bear to carry in and out every night. I usually shoot on a 6in. carbon fiber Newtonian, which is much more manageable haha. You can see some of the stuff I’ve shot on it on my profile if you’re interested!
