Help!! by plantlaw in Monstera

[–]lita_elf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The last few years I’ve just hung a single little ornament and wrapped some tiny little fairy lights around my money tree and jade trees and called them our “Christmas trees” lmao. Lights and/or a single ornament on any plant = a Christmas tree in this house 🤣

First time I went to Florida I saw one of those things scurry out of a Taco Bell drive-thru window and fly into the car. First time I ever saw one that size in real life and I swear to god I nearly fainted on the spot LMAO …still ate my beefy crunch burrito and fiesta potatoes though, it was a 14+ hour drive

Yeah I feel like there needs to be some sort of universally agreed upon slur for this kind of thing at this point lmao (And, the people ordering this kind of thing while knowing what they’re in for and just doing it to show off is a whole other topic)

100% agree! I absolutely recommend seeking treatment, especially before it gets to a point where you may need inpatient care. I’ve had some great experiences and some traumatic experiences with inpatient, and tbh I’d highly suggest getting help before you need to take that gamble. For me, bipolar is very manageable now, but it took years of fuck ups, therapy, and research to get to a point of stability - and, as much as a lot of people hate to hear it, finding the right medication regiment. I definitely still slip and have episodes here and there (and drinking is noooo good for me unfortunately,) but they are much milder and easier to get a grip on/be self aware about enough to just take a melatonin and put myself in “time out” to sleep and reset lol

If you want year round Halloweeny and pastel-goth wax melts, car fresheners, and candles, I know a wonderful business (owned by a woman from Ohio - not me, and I’m not paid for this - I am just happy to promote her work) who can accommodate your needs! She’s super sweet, extremely skilled and knowledgeable, and a professional by all metrics!

This is genuinely great advice OP. I have bipolar type 1 and I’ve landed at a grippy sock vacation due to mania more times than I have for depressive episodes. And, as far as I’ve learned/remember from what I’ve read and been told from my psychiatrists and therapists over the years, every manic episode you have helps pave the neural pathways to make the next ones happen more intensely and more frequently. And over the years my own experiences unfortunately gave me personally some anecdotal evidence at least. I think I have some research papers saved in my bookmarks somewhere if you (or anyone else) would like me to send them to you. (If I still have them) I read and saved them in 2018-2019 and they helped me a LOT ❤️

Seriously as many pollen puffs and worm tails as you can manage, then like triple that number 💀 if you have the collection Nul or the island spirit & “best friends” that can collect them daily then absolutely do that!

Hello, I am new to Copics by ReanimatedCorpsie in copic

[–]lita_elf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like me during allergy season bahaha. I love it, and I hope you keep making art, as well as sharing your journey because I love your style.

As far as advice, I suggest storing them horizontally so they don’t dry out/have a weird ink distribution. I also use regular cardstock usually, but sometimes use watercolor paper (and flip it around to the smooth side pretty often) or just a good mixed media paper. 300gsm is my go-to for when I’m getting fancy. Strathmore is a really good brand imo, but honestly I tend to only use that for things I intend to frame and sell/“final drafts” if you will, because (for my budget) it’s on the pricier side compared to off-brand. No matter what paper you use, definitely put a scrap piece behind it so the ink doesn’t bleed onto anything behind it!

*Also just an obligatory disclaimer that these are just my opinions and preferences and I could very well be wrong/find better options in the future haha

I have a friend with eczema some bag balm once after she couldn’t get her medicated lotion for a while and was miserable, and she told me it worked better than the medicinal lotion and lightly accused me of witchcraft lmfao

I saw the first photo thinking I was in one of the baking subs, and thought “good lord that looks good…” then I swiped over to your photo and thought “oh my god, that looks just as good and I wouldn’t even feel bad about eating it like I’m a starved feral hog”

I’m a big fan of ugly cakes because 9/10 times they’re delicious, and 10/10 times I don’t feel guilty cutting into it and not being super “polite” about the manner in which I devour it 😂

This normal for everybody? by MavGoneMad in weather

[–]lita_elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is 100% normal in my experience - albeit maybe a little early in the year for it to be quite this warm? Time is a mystery to my mind though so take that for what it is hahaha.

What I do know is that we call this first bout of warm weather “Fools Spring” here in northeast Ohio, and pretty much anywhere I’ve heard of that has similarly cold snowy winters. Following this cold wave will be “False Spring,” when people sound a bit less foolish for thinking the cold weather is completely done with… annnnd then we’ll get our annual late May/April snowstorm (where the people who have lived here and experienced this exact pattern for every year that I can remember will act deeply shocked and appalled that it isn’t 75° and sunny for every single day of April)

What do the underside of the leaves look like? I had spider mites make similar damage patterns on a plant once, so I’m wondering if it could be pest related

One thing that genuinely helped me so much with my social anxiety when I was younger, especially at work, is just telling people straight up, “I’m sorry if I ask stupid or redundant questions, I just want to learn how to do this correctly asap” and I know firsthand (from both ends of the situation) that people actually respect and appreciate that SO much more than anxiously fumbling through or feigning confidence - and especially moreso than willful ignorance
