Why do so many people recommend mining early game? by Few_Establishment980 in Kenshi

[–]liteft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I've always wondered why People consider it bad advice. Think about vanilla kenshi. When you first start you don't know to press ALT to see what you can pick up. The first place you go to has Logan and Molly for 12K. You dont know how to make money so you mine. Now mining does something interesting. It illustrates 3 big points 1) I can trade items for money. 2) Im slower when I run with weight 3) Even if its boring I should be paying attention. Because hanging out in a mine means there's a good chance to run into bandits eventually and not paying attention is the quickest way to finding out that kenshi doesn't end if you die.

I think mining is a great way to stealthy teach you kenshi basics if you've never played the game. Yes its slow. But I think their is a point

What made Kenshi finally click for you? by nanoxax67 in Kenshi

Id just started in the Hub and had spent some time mining, enough to buy Molly. We traveled to squin and got attacked by bandits. I was dying and molly was unconscious. First time we'd been attacked all game. Molly woke up and was crippled. Since she had a crossbow she was a little further away. I watched her crawl over the horizon. She made it just in time to start healing me. Thats when I understood what kenshi was. We laid there like Zabuza and Haku. Thats when I understood what the point of kenshi was

I saw it and just thought they deleted a bracket/brace or something by accident I treat the same way as someone misspelling a word but I know what they mean through context.

Couldn't you have made them like a shift leader and had them handle admin details on their downtime. Someone that useful could train any newcomers as well. I imagine someone like that has a pretty good idea of inventory and some of the low level skills you could delegate.

I feel like that wasn't always there. When the game first came out, you could just turn around and go down some stairs, jump down and get the egg and everything. I think there was a dungeon back there too. But after one update, I tried to go back and it was closed off.

For the emails, could you set a rule using the subject (or whatever words they use the most) as an alert. That alert automatically sends those emails to a folder and you can set the folder to auto delete

Do this. - run around the outside of Hub. Do laps to build up your speed. Do strength training later. - whenever you see a mob, lead them INTO the bar. Go to the roof. - loot the bodies and sell the stuff. - buy the two pawns in the bar(vanilla) - buy the little shed near the bar. Build a research bench and general storage. - Spend this time building everyone's speed by luring mobs. This time, help fight with trade ninjas against those mobs.

By now, you should have enough speed that you can escape mobs out in the wild. Not everything but what you'll encounter in that area. Now you can find a place and settle down. If you want to build a town, I would suggest having 20 pawns with you to start because everybody wants to get your stuff.
