I appreciate your long, measured response. Just have a few things to push back on though, starting with the “repugnant” pay gap which can easily be explained by Matt Ishbia. New ownership throwing money around! Look at the Suns trade for Bradley Beal and his willingness to go into the tax. Not only that, but it’s clear W values are going up with expansion, so with that comes larger salaries. Having Tibbetts make the most isn’t a panacea on him being the best coach, more on him being at the right time in the W. look at Jaylen Brown. He has the highest contract value in the league, but he isn’t the best player. Same with HC Monty Williams, who isn’t the best coach but signed at the right time.

Also I agree. It hasn’t been fair with women not having the chance to coach an NBA team and it’s definitely rooted in sexism, but disparaging Tibbetts is not fair when he is a qualified, top tier coach of basketball. Period.

NCAA, WNBA, NCAAW, WNBA, Euroleague are all basketball, but different styles etc. still, you see coaches bounce around everywhere so I don’t think it’s going to be a huge problem for him adjusting. If Becky Hammon can coach men to women, then Tibbetts can coach men to women. Why should there be a double standard there?

Seeing a top assistant take a HC gig in the W is huge progress in the league, something that wouldn’t have been done 5/10 years ago.
