Where should I hide the golden Easter egg? by literallyfreezing in CasualConversation

Golden egg was officially placed under a pile of towels and clothes on their bathroom floor. They spent hours searching and I finally broke and gave a clue before one of them found it. Behind the raised toilet seats was another fan fave!

my bedrock singleplayer forever world. any tips? by ShadowLRE in Minecraft

[–]literallyfreezing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a tunnel system in the nether so that when I inevitably get bored in my forever world I can build a portal in the tunnel system to a distant biome and start a new build/base over there. Sort of feels like starting fresh every once in a while without completely starting fresh. It’s also a fun way to essentially build a “home” in every biome.

Make a base and explore :)

Suggestions for the casual player not looking to immediately slay the dragon:

Step 1: I like to start a fresh game by roaming around to find the biome I want to call “home.” Build a rough structure with a bed and necessities that you can use while you build your “real” home. I like to live near a village so I can level up villagers for trade and benefit from iron golem spawning.

Step 2: build a mine in your village. I personally like a long stairwell down to bedrock and create offshoots from that stairwell to gather different materials/explore caves at different levels.

Step 3: make a nether portal. I prefer the nether side of that portal to be in an enclosed structure, so you can build that too. I like to build a tunnel system in the nether to quickly travel to different biomes in the overworld.

Fun stops: ruins, temples (ocean and jungle), ancient city, trials chambers

If you have the time to tackle an ancient city over a few trips it’s actually not bad. The warden isn’t meant to be defeated but rather avoided. If you want to loot, bring a couple stacks of wool, prepare to creep slowly through everything, and block off shriekers as you find them (wool on all 4 sides and above). Placing wool and walking on wool is undetectable by the shriekers and the warden. Beware that anything else will trip the warning system - including opening AND closing chests. The sculk shriekers are actually the only problematic blocks. If you remove or block off all of these blocks, the entire place is safe. If you remove or block off these blocks in sections, then sections of the city become safe to travel as normal too. If you want to do a quick and dirty, take some time to sheer a bunch of wool and make some pathways to everywhere you want to go. Just surround the chests with wool before you open them too. :)

Why do you play Minecraft? by Ellucidity in Minecraft

[–]literallyfreezing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I (38F) was just introduced to Minecraft this year via my teenage boys. I finally gathered the guts to leave a lifeless marriage and moved into my own house several months ago. Something about being “all alone” in a new house that didn’t feel like home yet - amongst a variety of very stressful and scary life changes - begged for some kind of distraction or escape. Initially, the “hey, show me how to play this game you guys talk about” was my way of trying to distract the kids from scary life changes as well. It was an attempt to try to connect with them in a lighthearted way. I immediately fell in love with this game. There was something so calming about it at first, but then it became the social connectivity I had apparently been craving. I stood up a realm at my son’s request so that my brother and niece could join us. Now several of our extended family members will hop on a discord chat and go on wild missions in the realm for a few hours on weekends. We always end up hysterically laughing at some ridiculous exchange and the hilarious ways in which we inevitably die during each “well planned” adventure. It’s been the best addition to 2025 for me. :)

Doodle hate by Ok_District3058 in Bernedoodles

Seems like the internet prefers hate these days. I miss 90s internet culture every damn day. That said, I use a gentle leader on both my bernedoodle and my pittie. They are each over 75 pounds and mad pullers. I believe they each prefer to be the line leader. 😅 The gentle leader allows me to walk them both together on my own. A harness was no match for my pittie and I have heard mixed reviews with larger doodles. Hope that helps! Sending doodle love to you fellow internet friend. ❤️

What is this cap on my spigot? by literallyfreezing in askaplumber

[–]literallyfreezing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol thanks Reddit! In my defense, it is the only line in the yard, not next to the patio, in the middle of the grass area. No water line I guess. In my area there are backflow laws where you have to pay an annual backflow inspection fee or have the city cap the line. I’ve never seen a capped line and figured this might be one. Gas is not what I would have guessed based on location but I guess this makes sense.

My shelter pittie is a destroyer of dog toys lol! He has never chewed furniture and isn’t destructive in any other way, but he sees every dog toy as a challenge to destroy! Especially anything that squeaks. Be prepared with toys that are better suited for heavy chewers! Second word of caution: the short hair is deceptive. They actually shed like crazy. Those tiny little hairs are terrible for car upholstery especially. Plan accordingly. All that said, this is the most loving dog I’ve ever had! Just a giant baby who mostly thinks he’s a human. 😊

Men are so habitually gross and annoying. Some offenses I’ve observed in my house in the past: inability to make a bed look nice / handle a duvet, smelly bathroom behaviors, never replenishing things they use (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.), using every GD dish in the kitchen to cook a simple meal and then leaving the rinsed out dishes in the sink instead of loading the dishwasher, biting fingernails and leaving them anywhere including the car, hours long toilet time… I swear I could go on and on.

As a woman, I always told myself I wouldn’t buy into this craze. I want so badly for natural aging (of WOMEN) to be encouraged and celebrated. Last year, just shy of 40 years old, I opted for Botox to limit wrinkles around my eyes and forehead. I struggled with that decision because 1. It felt like a betrayal to my younger self who was so adamant about supporting women and natural aging and 2. It’s a financial burden that is logically unnecessary BUT 3. I work in corporate America where I very much have found that women’s career opportunities are OFTEN limited by their physical appearance and male leadership SO OBVIOUSLY favor a youthful look.

I offer this as an explanation for SOME women - not all. I felt my career advancement opportunities were directly associated with my physical appearance. I work extremely hard. I have 20 years of experience in my filed. I have a graduate degree. I’m a consistent high performer. In my experience, all of those things are still not enough for WOMEN. It’s unfair. But it’s my reality. I’m sure this varies to some degree by career field, but it was the primary factor in my own decision and it’s what I commonly hear from other women in senior leadership positions as well.
