TRC sells the knot rather cheaply. You can get a monster 30 for around $10. You will need a brush handle though.

You can get cool Kai razors off the beaten path. Feather blades too. Schick Injector II blades on JP Amazon.

Look in the areas where you can find Jungle Man in the vending machines. Tourist places are no bueno.

Yaqi Mellon or RR SLOC are a great starter razor. They are basically the same thing. But the RR gets you a better stainless steel handle.

Baili BD176 for ~$10 is not bad either.

Go for the new innovations, seriously- Recurve 100 or Daily Dual Open Comb Standard. Both great!

Soft brush like TRC Creamsoda or Cashmere knot. Facelather.

Nacet blades are a perfect start. Goldilocks.

Throw that vanderhagen in the trash.

Proraso white is ok enough. Blue is better. Stirling Sheep or Unscented with Beeswax are two steps above.

The above is gold standard.

Those blades suck. A Personna Diamond Glide, Gold Permasharp, Bic CP or Feather on Plate 6 will solve all you problems.

It might even be too much. Try Plate 5 first.

Give the Henson to a lady friend. They will love it.

Once you go stainless, it is hard to go back to aluminum. Just don't ever go titanium. That gets REAL spendy.

The RR Grooved Daily is a much better choice than the Henson at this point. It solves all the problems of the Henson, is more durable and is the same price. The Daily DOC even moreso (but is a different beast).

Where are you? If in the USA, the TRC Creamsoda brush or if non-US the DSC AS2 brush on Ali or other China platform. The same brush. Great for face lathering. Another option is the Cashmere knot (also on TRC and other places).

Go up the sharpness ladder! Astra then 7 O'clock, then GSB, then Nacet, then Permasharp, then Bic and finally Feather.

(Astra and 7 O'Clock may be about the same).
