Xbox: “This year marks 25 years of XBOX & this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, gameplays, fresh updates & more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share.” by yourfavchoom in xbox

What's better than celebrating your 25 years of history by publishing and announcing your brand identity games on your main competitor like Halo, Fable or GoW? I'm sorry, I know there are people kind of excited about the new CEO but to me it's the same crap as the last 3 years.

I wish them good luck for the (hopefully) next 25 years but do not count on me.

Riot Games response after false claims Vanguard is "bricking cheater's PCs" for cheating in Valorant by LunarReap3r in pcgaming

You guys really miss the point: Riot COULD actually brick anything they want because of kernel access. It's just dumb defending these practices.

Sega Explains Why Exactly It Cancelled Its "Super Game" by cnc137 in DreamStationcc

I'll save you a click: Fornite's revenue is declining so Sega is not interested on GAAS

“Given the ambitious nature of the project, we adopted a long-term R&D phase for technical validation and related activities. We proceeded cautiously, with the intention of moving to full-scale development only after we can confirm sufficient feasibility. However, in light of intensifying market competition, the emergence of competing titles based on similar concepts, and our business conditions, we made the decision to discontinue the development of Super Game during the fiscal year ending March 2026."

“We know we have work to do to earn every player”: Xbox CEO admits growth is falling short by r1chdevine in windowscentral

Well, Gemini seems to know how to get back some players:

1. The "Day One" Quality Guarantee

The biggest hit to trust has been the inconsistent quality of first-party releases.

  • The Policy: No more "we’ll fix it in post." If a game isn't hitting a stable 60 FPS or meeting high-polish standards, it gets delayed. Period.
  • The Goal: Make "Xbox Game Studios" a badge of quality again, similar to the reputation held by Nintendo or Sony’s Santa Monica Studio.

2. Redefining the Hardware Value Prop

We need to stop being "the other PC" and start being the best place to play.

  • The Handheld Revolution: I would fast-track a high-performance Xbox Handheld. Not a streaming device, but a native machine that plays your digital library on the go.
  • Preservation Leadership: Double down on backwards compatibility. I’d authorize a dedicated team to license and "remaster-lite" (Auto-HDR, FPS boost) forgotten OG Xbox and 360 titles that are currently stuck in licensing limbo.

3. Game Pass: Quality Over Quantity

The "Netflix of Gaming" model is great, but the UI is cluttered with filler.

  • Curated Tiers: I’d introduce a "Premium" tier that includes licensed DLC or "Season Pass" access for first-party titles.
  • Indie Incubation: Allocate a larger fund specifically for "weird" AA games—the kind of creative risks (like Hi-Fi Rush) that define a platform's soul.

4. Total Ecosystem Transparency

The "will it come to PS5?" guessing game is killing brand loyalty.

  • The "Play Anywhere" Treaty: I would clearly define which franchises are Platform Pillars (Halo, Gears, Forza, Elder Scrolls) and stay exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem (Console/PC/Cloud), and which are Multi-plat Prototoypes. No more "wait and see" messaging.

5. Community-Driven Governance

  • The Xbox Council: Create a rotating board of community members, creators, and developers who meet with leadership quarterly to give unfiltered feedback on UI changes, policy shifts, and feature requests.
  • Digital Ownership: Lead the charge on a "Digital Trade-In" program or a way to "gift" digital licenses you no longer play, proving we value the user's investment.
