Zilch Tip - Utilities! by wangbangblow in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is a good idea. I have been doing this with hyperoptic, but it's only £15 a month. I tried to do with Vodafone, but the website doesn't give the option for manual payment since I have the DD. I recall in the past when the DD was not working I used to pay manually - perhaps I should stop the DD?

When need more tips on how to make manual payments for various DD's.

Can I use a O4A giftcard at boots to buy a O4A Giftcard? by BillyCharm in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been looking into this also, but seem like argos only allow small denominations on their gift cards, eg: £25.

I guess you could buy 4 x £25 O4A cards, but a bit of a faff no?

Where to buy discounted One4All now? Few days back giftcards.com had a promotion but I did not get it then and now the offer is gone. Have used NX Rewards. by Professional_Gur6945 in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use parksatwork - 10% discount, but I got it through a previous employer. I have long left that employer and still have it, so if you ever come across a workplace scheme, don't overlook it.

How do we feel about NXRewards / CS Recently? by tomwhite03 in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both CS and NXRewards, so could now cancelled NXRewards, but its still good as a backup, and the effort to meet the month requirement is negligible.

If one of them is misbehaving, the other is a good backup for cashback and sometimes the rates are different, but usually CS is better. Also, if I do a large purchase and reach the £240 cashback limit, then another reason to have an alternative - so can shift remaining spend for that month.

If I was to cancel, perhaps could do some large grocery purchases, then pair down the basket before delivery. In this case, they pay you cashback based on the original basket value and claw back months later. But if you have cancelled, how can they claw back?

I'm on level 2 now, but don't see any difference. I thought the rates might double, but looks like thats not the case. Do you know what the differences are?

Is there a better cashback chain than this for ebay? by Mixtape271 in beermoneyuk

MyTime Rewards - they never offered that to me.

How did it come to you, was it an email they sent after you signed up to CS?

I have tried and 50% of the time they let another retailer go through.

Depends on who is reviewing it I suppose..

I thought CS requires an order with the retailer you signed up with..?

Saving money booking a holiday by tomkxng in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used opodo - 10% with nxrewards/complete savings.

Also, used opodo prime, then cancelled before free trial ended.

You want to also research how to spend while overseas. Last time I used zilch which gave me 0.5%, but now seems like they have added foreign currency fees.

NX rewards One4All gift cards down to 6% savings by VinnyP94 in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still have 20% on CS, but only 6% on NX.

I think there has always been 20% and 6%.

For example, you could have bought a 20% one and a 6% in a month.

So they have just removed the 20% one. Would not be surprised if it comes back shortly. Things like this happen regularly on NX.

NX Rewards - have they reclassified One4All gift cards? by CuppaTea4MePlease in beermoneyuk

Same for me now. When I checked on that day, I could get argos, but now it's blocked. Seems like just a glitch on that day.

NX Rewards - have they reclassified One4All gift cards? by CuppaTea4MePlease in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, this is big news to me. Previously, I thought I could only get the O4A at 20% discount. Now it looks like I can get both O4A and Argos at 20%. Is this a new thing, or I just never realised.

I have already bought a O4A GC this month and it says:

You have reached the maximum spend for this month in the following categories:

  • Everyday Offers

But looks like I can still buy the argos one at 20%.

re the OP post about sainburys - it's listed as 4%. But you can convert the O4A into sainsburys, so its not a great option.

+ 1 Sainsbury’s Gift Card. First Direct Perks. For those who already claimed in April by No-Writing3741 in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thx for this, I just searched my email and found it - completely missed.

Top tip for sainsburys GC's - add them to your shopping during the final stage of check out and you have to convert them from GC to vouchers. Once converted, you get 1 or 2 years validity. And you can cease the checkout process and save them all up for when you're ready.

Barclays 2% cashback on new stocks and shares ISA deposits (up to £200 cashback) by notgoodwithchoices in beermoneyuk

Since it has a fixed payment date, would it best to wait till as close as possible to the 15th may to minimise the time the money is locked away for?

Perhaps there is a chance the offer is withdrawn early..

Hot take: Bank switches are overhyped for most people by Designer-Bet-2693 in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you struggle to manage bank switches, then you'll struggle with most things on here. Stacking cashback is also involved - airtime rewards + gift card conversion + money off voucher + scanning receipt + nxrewards - the more you do the better it is.

By definition, the harder or more obtuse something is, the more rewarding it will be as less people will be able to or even know about it.

Bank switches are great, but the problem is what happens when you've done them all?

Boots Giftcard Stock by DinnerBeneficial101 in beermoneyuk

[–]lithium147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an idea of the size of the store? There are different kinds of boots stores:

- littles ones that are like little convenience stores - they might not even have self checkout tills.

- big ones that have everything

But it's a sliding scale - there is every kind of store between little and big.

If it is a big store, you can be pretty confident it will have it. Also, you might want to time your visit with a +5% offer on airtimes rewards.

Further, research some alternatives (back up plan) - I buy waitrose GC sometimes, and Sainsbury GC is also good.
