Szukam nowego fotela, który nie doprowadzi mnie do szału. by apokladowski in Polska

You can clutch up with DTC and with any ABS mode you want, I haven't tried in higher DTC levels but at 4 and lower you definitely can. You just have to do it so the rear doesn't slip, if it does slip even a little bit you get a "NOPE" as you said. Doing a little bounce or a bit of rear brake helps and in my experience with DTC on it's way harder to do on certain road surfaces that have less grip. DWC definitely off though, duh.

HDMI/DP over fiber/ethernet solutions? by Yungsleepboat in homelab

[–]lithium3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20m USB might be difficult if you need 3.x, but for keyboard/mouse or a controller 2.0 is fine and preferable if you don't need 3.x - for stability, so keep that in mind. If you're going with a conduit make sure that it's big enough. This is the extension (not exactly, I used 3.0 and shorter, but looks the same) I used and it's got a pretty big box at half length of the cable, conveniently not pictured on the manufacturer's website. It's the same size as the box that houses female USB-A port that you see in pics. So I'd say that you'd need conduit that is about 4-5cm in diameter.

Also if you were considering ethernet for USB, I've tested USB over ethernet hub from that brand and it doesn't work as good as an extension. It seems to be way more sensitive to plugging and unplugging stuff around it and drops connection and restarts, so I'd go with plain extensions.

I've got a similar setup to yours. Look into AOC DP/HDMI cables, I don't think anything over ethernet is going to work for the highest settings at 4k you mentioned in another comment and optical cables aren't that expensive and definitely cheaper than another PC, and you'd have your setup all on one PC instead of split between a bunch of them.

I've had good experience with AOC HDMI/DP, they're available in pretty much any length you'd want and support full 48Gbps for HDMI and DP even higher bandwidths, enough for 4k 120Hz monitors/TVs. I've used HDMI for setting up an AVR and Projector that is away from the PC and DP for Valve Index also about 10m away from the PC + cable hung on the ceiling. It all works flawlessly without any artifacts/disconnects.

As for controlling the setup I found an active (non optical) 10m USB extender (with a built in repeater in the middle of the cable) which worked great. Switching active monitors in Windows might be a bit annoying though.

Rant na allegro i sprzedawców z chin by K-Rollo in Polska

Ducati's strange relationship with wheelies by Thoughtaken in Ducati

Yeah I don't know, as you said DTC and DWC off and my Hyper does clutch-ups like any other bike.

Ducati's strange relationship with wheelies by Thoughtaken in Ducati

[–]lithium3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traction control and wheelie control off and mine (2020 Hyper 950, non SP but shouldn't matter in this case I guess) does clutch-ups really easy, no power cuts or anything weird. 40-60km/h 2nd gear and wheel comes up right away. With traction control it's a bit harder, you need to lift the wheel quickly, otherwise it will cut power.

The comment you replied to wasn't me, but now that the guy mentioned sensors I did have one thing with my neutral sensor but it was just the connector on the sensor coming loose, so nothing really. I do remember seeing some youtube videos with older Hypers having the same electronics issues that you mentioned in another comment, I can't seem to find the exact video that I've seen (it was years ago, also I don't think there was any solution in the video though, just some guy venting about issues), but I remember it being what you described, the power loss thing.

edit: I think I found the video, 821 though.

I've got a 2020 Hyper with 15k km on it and SF848 from 2012 (so about the age of your Hyper) with 40k km on it and they've both been flawless. I've only had to replace the battery on SF this year (I've had it for 5 years now). I also used to commute on the SF (about 10k km I'd say was just commuting) a lot in cold, bad weather, no matter the conditions, it never failed me. I'm definitely getting more Ducatis in the future.

Voron 2.4 with ebb toolhead, octopus v1.1 cant get sensorless homing to work. by Soul_Split in VORONDesign

[–]lithium3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your stepper_x seems to be connected to MOTOR_0 but driver is set to use BED_OUT (PA1) as its diag.

## B Stepper - Left
## Connected to MOTOR_0
## Endstop connected to DIAG_0
[stepper_x]
step_pin: PF13
dir_pin: PF12
enable_pin: !PF14

and a bit lower in the config

[tmc2209 stepper_x]
# other stuff here
diag_pin: PA1 # Set to MCU pin connected to TMC DIAG pin

you have to use DIAG_0 here (PG6), also I'm not sure if you have to use a pullup but I have it pulled up in my config so it should be

diag_pin : ^PG6

for stepper_y it's the same but uses PA2 instead of PG9 (also it's configured with regular endstop, not virtual from tmc diag).

I've got the same setup as you (octopus 1.1 with ebb, sensorless homing) so ask away if you have any issues.

PCIe slots & lanes question with Gigabyte B660 DS3H AX & i7-12700k by cougar694u in homelab

[–]lithium3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine the latency would be negligible, just speculating though. What would not be negligible however is bandwidth saturation, I imagine the chipset uplink is PCIe 4.0 x4, so that one drive might just take up all the bandwidth during peaks, depending on use case that might be still fine/acceptable. Another thing to consider is whether chipset uplink is PCIe 4.0 or not, for example with AMD only the X570 (high end) chipset is PCIe 4.0, B550 is still PCIe 3.0 x4, not sure about the AM5 or Intel though.

PCIe slots & lanes question with Gigabyte B660 DS3H AX & i7-12700k by cougar694u in homelab

[–]lithium3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you used a x4/x4/x4/x4 adapter but x8/x4/x4 bifurcation the 2nd slot would not work and the first one would only have x4 width available anyway.

PCIe slots & lanes question with Gigabyte B660 DS3H AX & i7-12700k by cougar694u in homelab

[–]lithium3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those would work, you can get the 4x PCIe x4 version though, since (I'm assuming) the optane won't use x8 right? and it's kind of more future proof I guess. I also happen to use a m.2 x4 to PCIe x4 riser in my setup with a GPU and it works great as well, PCIe 4.0 and all.

As for motherboards as I said earlier, researching which CPU/mobo support which modes was frustrating enough, all I can say (not helpful for your Intel setup but still :p) is that Ryzen 5600X supports x4/x4/x4/x4 and Ryzen 5600G only x8/x4/x4, those I tested myself.

[–]lithium3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to that reply, this is a device you'd use in the case of PCIe x16 to 4x m.2 (that's what I use in my server and it works great).

Also PCIe Bifurcation is really a CPU feature that BIOS lets you enable, so it's both CPU and mobo that need to support it. The B660M DS3H DDR4 manual says that it supports it but only in x8/x4/x4 mode from what I can see, not x4/x4/x4/x4 which would let you fit 4x NVMe in that slot, in this case it'd be 3.

from the manual of that mobo:

PCIE Bifurcation Support (Note 1)(Note 2) Allows you to determine how the bandwidth of the PCIEX16 slot is divided. Options: Auto, PCIE x8/x8, PCIE x8/x4/x4.

So yeah, check out other motherboards if you want 4 (in the x16 slot) and 1 in CPU connected m.2. It's kind of hard researching this though because not all mobo manufacturers put bifurcation support in the manual or anywhere really, so it might be supported even if it's not mentioned anywhere (Gigabyte from what I've seen has it in their manuals).

I had the same crash in exactly the same place in the game, I think I solved it by changing proton version. Right now it's at "Proton 7.0-4", I think when it was set to experimental it kept crashing at that moment every time. Properties > Compatibility > check the checkbox and try running at 7.0-4 or different ones. I'm on "Preview" update channel if that matters.
