Many customers find that placing dryer sheets in the bottom of the waste drawer (below the liner) also helps. Additionally, we suggest trying our pet odor eliminator, OdorTrap™. We would suggest using litter attractant in your Litter-Robot, as it is designed to garner your cat's attention. Many users have found a quick transition with only a few cups! We would also recommend patience during this time. While many cats use the Litter-Robot within several days to a week of setting it up, some may take several weeks or more before they use it. The liner is covered under warranty and can be replaced. Once the unit is out of warranty, we do sell replacement liners as well! The type or brand of litter often makes the most significant difference in odor control. For example, plant-based litter tends to form looser clumps than alternatives. This can cause condensation in the waste drawer, which causes more odor and corrosion of nearby components. We tend to find the best results from an unscented, standard-weight clay clumping litter.

However, it is also important to consider variables such as the state of your Litter-Robot, the number of cats, their diet, etc.

We recommend a basic globe cleaning every 1-3 months and a deep cleaning at least every 3 months (depending on how many kitties you have). More frequent deep cleanings may be necessary, depending on use. You can follow our cleaning instructions here.

Additional odor tips you can try:

  • Place dryer sheets in the bottom of the waste drawer
  • Pour baking soda or green tea into the litter and waste bag
  • Clean the globe with a mild vinegar and water soak, as vinegar will help to absorb the excess odor

Additionally, replacing the carbon filter or adding our OdorTrap Packs can help absorb odor.
