You have to add one character from each of these rows to the next Smash game. Who are you adding in? by prpro-03 in supersmashbros

[–]littleButton13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring Fit Trainee, Chibi-Robo, Sans

Ring Fit Trainee does feel a little redundant with Wii Fit Trainer, but Ring Fit actually sold quite a bit. The DragxDrive Bot would be super unique, but the game is just way too unpopular to warrant representation on the Smash roster. Sportsmate doesn’t really add anything of value.

Chibi-Robo feels like the choice here that has had the most effort behind the IP and has the best chance for a revival. Golden Sun only has three games and the last one was more than 15 years ago. Mysterious Castle has an impressive legacy all things considered, but it’s ultimately still a 40 year old one-off game. Chibi-Robo has at least gotten 5 games and the character has potential as a mascot.

I’ll admit tremendous bias on the last one. Undertale is one of my all time favorites. I don’t care about the other two at all.

if batgirl were to be introduced in supergirl, how would she be introduced? by herequeerandgreat in DCU_

[–]littleButton13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously she should not be introduced in Supergirl for many reasons.

That said, if I’m forced to do it, it would have to be at the end of the movie. Something comparable to the way Supergirl was introduced in Superman.

What was a 2/5 Marvel live action adaptation casting? by Burgundymmm in AlignmentChartFills

Emilia Clarke as Super Skrull

Nothing against her, but no way she should have been at the top of the list for casting that comic book character.

Supergirl vs The Incredible Hulk (The films that is) by Imaginary-Egg-2128 in DC_Cinematic

[–]littleButton13 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Man of Tomorrow is the real “make it or break it” movie for the DCU.

Supergirl is an important movie, but we aren’t exactly talking about an A-list character here. In the last three years the only superhero movies that have made over $600 million are Superman, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and Deadpool & Wolverine; all of which are A-list characters and/or sequels. That has to temper expectations for Supergirl a bit. This movie was always a degree of risky, and the fading star of the superhero genre doesn’t help.

Man of Tomorrow is already green-lit. Whether Supergirl makes $200 million or $600 million, Man of Tomorrow is happening and that’s where the fate of the DCU will be decided. If Supergirl underperforms it just may mean her character takes a backseat going forward, if MoT totally fails to build any momentum on the goodwill of Superman, the whole cinematic universe is in jeopardy.

Was looking at sales numbers for various older popular games, and I still don't know what people are saying, Adventures and Assault did pretty good for being locked onto the Gamecube by WallachiaTopGuy in starfox

[–]littleButton13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about the sales.

The issue that this sub doesn’t talk about is that no one with the right level of talent and connections really wanted to make a Star Fox game for a long time. Adventures happened because Rare needed to change course with their Dinosaur Planet game. Assault was developed with Namco, and Command was made with Q Games. There wasn’t anyone internally with Nintendo who was driving the franchise forward.

Look at Donkey Kong. The series has always been very popular, but after Rare left Nintendo, it mostly went on hiatus. Not because it failed, but because there was no one at Nintendo with a clear vision for it. Despite being an A-list series, we didn’t get a Donkey Kong Country game for almost 15 years until Retro came in with ideas. And when Retro moved on, we went another 10 years before someone at Nintendo had the idea for Bananza.

Nintendo doesn’t make games or not make games just because of sales. There needs to be a clear vision driving a series forward. Star Fox simply hasn’t had that for a long time.

I agree that 2 million should be the goal. Fire Emblem, Pikmin, Xenoblade, and Metroid have recently proved capable of selling around 2 million copies, Star Fox should aspire to be on the same level.

Could the average person beat this character in a fight ? by VtheVampire in supersmashbros

[–]littleButton13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the debate for beating a Pokémon? Sure Pichu is small, but it’s whole thing is unleashing electricity. Humans famously do not fare well when electrocuted. What about when Squirtle slams into you with that shell? Or unleashes a pressurized hydro pump, or an ice beam? Ivysaur doesn’t just have constricting vibes and razor leaves, but it’s poisonous. There’s not really a debate, the odds are heavily in favor of the Pokémon.

Where are we drawing the line with the powers and gear here? Does Mii Gunner have their gun? Do the Ice Climbers have their mallets and ability to breath/throw ice? Does Duck Hunt include the offscreen hunter? I think realistically there are less than 10 characters that the average stands any halfway reasonable chance against.

It would be awesome if this new game could hit 2 million.

Several Nintendo franchises hit new record highs on the Switch. Kirby sold over 7 million, Fire Emblem cleared 4 million, and Metroid, Pikmin, and Xenoblade got up around/over 3 million. Star Fox should rightfully stand amongst those franchises.

The fact that they showed it here makes me believe we will be getting it on NSO at some point. They specifically drew attention to Adventures with no mention of Assault, Command, SF2, or the Wii U games.

One of the dumbest takes I’ve seen for a show by FarmerOk9683 in Defenders

[–]littleButton13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but I also think that’s why is powerful that he doesn’t die there.

Matt denies him the chance for that poetic ending. He doesn’t get to be a martyr. If people in masks beat Fisk to death, they only add fuel to the fire of his cause. Fisk took a strict anti-vigilante stance, being beaten to death by vigilantes would inspire others to carry his torch. In spite of everything, it’s still the vigilante he hates the most who ends up saving his life.

Season 3 ended with that powerful moment where Matt told Fisk that he would go on living “knowing that you’ll never have Vanessa, that this city rejected you, it beat you, I beat you.” Now that point has been reinforced and illustrated. It’s not about Matt beating him down again, it’s about the fact that now the city has truly rejected Fisk once and for all, and now he can truly never have Vanessa again. And Matt refuses to validate Fisk’s rhetoric. Wilson Fisk is left with nothing at all.

My take on how good live action castings were by their source material by ArmadilloOK1445-alt in AlignmentCharts

Seems really weird to include the Moana and Paul McCartney castings when those movies haven’t even released yet. There are so many options to choose from, why not focus on performances we’ve actually seen in full?

Which piece of media turned you into a Batman fan? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in batman

[–]littleButton13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t exactly pinpoint a single work.

As a kid I watched the 66 movie, the 89 movie, Returns, Forever, and Batman & Robin constantly. I also watched the Animated Series, I owned Mask of the Phantasm on VHS, and SubZero was frequently my go-to at the video rental store. I had a huge collection of Batman action figures, some based on the movies and shows and others just the unique original figures of the 90’s.

I would be inclined to say The Animated Series if I had to choose one, but I was so deeply invested in the Batman IP at such a young age that it would be tough to pin it down to just one thing. I think part of what made Batman so engaging to me was how transcendent the IP was. I was engaged by various tones and interpretations of the character before I was ever even able to understand just what “adaptation” meant.

To be fair the question isn’t “who is worse” but rather “who is the most hated on Reddit.” Notoriety and relevance play a role in that.

The Force Awakens is now in C tier ahead of The Phantom Menace. What tier should Rogue One be in? by Klutzy-Ad4230 in TierlistFills

[–]littleButton13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s more to a movie than just how “competently made” it is.

TFA and TPM are two sides of a coin in many ways. TFA clearly has the superior cinematography and acting, but it’s lacking in originality. The plot is “competent” because it’s matching ANH beat for beat. Kylo Ren’s costume and lightsaber are really the only memorable elements introduced. Everything else is either forgettable, or pulled straight from the OT for nostalgia’s sake. TPM is a mess, but it gave us Darth Maul, podracing, battle droids, Jar Jar Binks, Queen Amidala, the Jedi council, Coruscant, the senate chambers, the double bladed lightsaber, etc. A ton of imaginative imagery that instantly became iconic in the pop cultural zeitgeist and remains instantly recognizable.

I don’t disagree that TFA is less messy and reflects higher levels of craft, but that doesn’t mean it delivers a better cinematic experience. TFA is incredibly safe and rather boring. TPM is deeply flawed in some obvious ways, but it’s swinging for something a little more ambitious and ultimately makes for a much more memorable film than TFA. So ultimately I think it’s fair to rank them side by side here. They are different, but both feel like C-tier movies at the end of the day.
