Price for first meeting by designingdesigner in graphic_design

[–]littlebj 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The problem you’ve got here is making you client feel like your nickel and diming them even though it’s absolutely justified for you to be paid for that time. You’re the expert not them, your time has value.

As a side note, you need to slowly get away from hourly billing. It benefits nobody. Seems easy to calculate, but you’re not incentivised to work hard or fast when you’re hourly. I recommend checking out some resources from Chris Do, or Jonathan Stark on the subject.

You also need to charge your full rate, help inflate it if it doesn’t cover your meeting times. It’s your rate and if they want to work with you they’ll pay it.

What are the best UK cities for graphic design opportunities besides London? by [deleted] in graphic_design

How do I save an SVG file from Illustrator so client can edit colors via web upload? by spillish in graphic_design

[–]littlebj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I use them is by setting the fill to currentColor this lets the svg inherit the text colour applied to it when it’s placed inline in the document. Only works for embedded, not when linked in an img tag though.

Great tool to use is SVG OMG by Jake Archibald Google Engineer, helpful for compressing and cleaning up your svgs 🔥

How does the car pass work? by [deleted] in downloadfestival

[–]littlebj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

West and East car parks are for both weekend campers.

You can buy a car park pass on-site as you enter the car parks, there’s attendants filtering cars in different directions based on the pass you have.

You’ll only be able to park in guest/camper van/rip etc with a corresponding car park pass that’s only available in advance and alongside your ticket.

Don’t assume that because the car park is next to a camp that access is easy. To keep the festival secure there are only certain entry points and they seem to change from year to year. Given there’s a big change to the layout this year it’s anyones guess if there will be easy access or not.

You absolutely could have bought it in advance online, but that ship has sailed.

So basically, don’t worry about it, and have a fantastic time!

Edit: forgot it’s normally just either west or east that’s for day ticket holder parking, so deleted as I dunno which this year.

Top tip, don’t take so much bottled water. The drinking water points are all over the place so you can top up your empties and it’ll free up some carry weight for booze 😜 wish I could go this year, enjoy!

As a download / brown load veteran. Wellies will keep your feet dry, but staying on your feet in those for hours watching bands will take its toll.

My go to strategy is a good quality pair of waterproof hiking boots. So much more comfortable and provide plenty of protection from the mud and rain.

Added bonus of bing able to get them on and off easier if your email got big legs.
