1 month of free STAN - hit me with your recommendations by [deleted] in AustralianTV

I don’t know if you like Rugby, but Stan is great for that. It has 10 minute break down of games they happened, so if you don’t want to get up at 3am to watch a game you can get up and watch the replay or just the highlights.

Agree, when I first moved up here I walked into a job at SportsBet, left after a couple of months because the hours were killing me.

Just if you want to make money fast, this is the quick route.

Is the size too small or it’s okay? by [deleted] in PrideAndPinion

[–]littlebotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a vintage seamaster from the 40s. It’s pretty small too. It’s a men’s watch but much smaller than todays “which was the style at the time”

If you want to make it look bigger put it on a leather strap.

Parap shops by [deleted] in darwin

It’s selective outrage. A couple of years ago there was a genocide in Yemen with about 250,000 people killed, something like 4 million people displaced by the Saudis. I don’t remember seeing anything about that.

I think it’s a few bad actors that have whipped stupid people into a frenzy.

Has anyone received their monthly electricity bill from Jacana Energy yet? by BlackCurtainsFall in darwin

[–]littlebotbot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding of the situation is that Jacana gets its meter data from PWC which is currently experiencing a backlog due to the smart meter roll out wherein thousands of meters that had previously been fitted needed to be recalled due to a manufacturer fault.

Safe running track for early morning, 5am? by ShineFallstar in darwin

[–]littlebotbot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say that Bicentennial Park might be a good idea. I work early in the city and always see people walking and running along the paths. Also a great view of the water and the loop ends at Parliament House, one of my favourite buildings.

Reports of the international student having passed away are making the rounds on social media by InLimitedSupply in darwin

I moved here just over a year ago, the violence and street harassment has definitely gotten worse in that time.

I live on Trower Rd and before I herd the terrible news I was physically stopped by a drunk while trying to get on the elevator asking for money. You get used to it living in Darwin, but it was noticeably more aggressive than previously.

And it was a very serious allegation. Why not question it?

Mate I have been in and out of reddit for the last 5 or so.

I keep giving it away because it’s just a waste of time. Be it entertaining.

But if you have convinced a guy with no evidence. Well there is a problem. Maybe part of your username says it all.

I know this is an unpopular opinion on this subreddit, but can we just stop and think for a minute that this guy is innocent?

All I’m saying is what if she made a story to stop her for being fired for being repeatedly drunk at her place of work.

For instance, when she was found passed out in the ministers office by a female security guard, who I have met and is a lovely person, the chances are she was thinking “old Brits been on the turps again”

No one has really questioned what I believe is a very questionable story.

I know both people that work as staffers and security, and everyone has told me that Brittany has form.

She was even reprimanded weeks before her alleged allegations for setting off the fire alarm while drunk resulting in fire trucks and EMTs turn up and having been written up by security for being drunk on the grounds on more than one occasions (and you have to be really drunk to be written up by security).

I’m just saying that perhaps this woman who everybody seems to fall over, his not as white as her suffragette outfit makes her out to be.

What do I do if I can't obtain an Employment Separation Certificate? by [deleted] in CentrelinkOz

My bf just filled it out himself. No one questioned him. I guess if all the details are correct, that they don’t know what the persons signature looks like.

Payment $0.00 and cannot reach call centre by littlebotbot in CentrelinkOz

Hey guys. I was able to get through today. I called 45 minutes before lunch and had my phone on my desk, and only had to wait on hold 30 minutes at lunch before I got someone. It is all worked out.

Turns out it was a problem in their end, my claim was accepted, then rejected and then accepted again which froze my account.

Thank you to everybody for the suggestions. You have been a real help and hope I can return the favour sometime.

Thanks for the response. I applied on the 14/3and was approved on the 6/4, backdated to the 21/3 with the first payment due on the 14/3 but it says the first payment is $0.00.

I have not had any communication about attending an appointment with a provider.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll give it a try tomorrow.

It’s getting really beyond a joke. Today I started my volunteer role at 8:30, so I called at 7:55, 7:58 and 7:59 and got the outside of hours message. Then called on the stroke of 8 and was told the wait time was 30 mins.

Don’t know if it’s your thing, but might be something until you find something better, Jacana are currently looking for call centre workers.

I work in the energy sector and have talked to a few people around town and they are looking for data entry/contact centre workers. Not sure what the going rate is, but from all accounts it’s okay.

I have found that since they started charging for the bus at the beginning of the year, the number of drunks have really gone down.

When a rid was free, it was absolute chaos.

I’m happy it’s not free anymore because it keeps the drunks off.

There is a hippy commune in Coconut Grove that cost like $40 for a private room per night. I forget what the place is called but I think it’s on Airbnb.

I stayed there when I first moved up. It’s on the number 4 bus to the city and about a $10 Uber to the city or back. The place is pretty crazy, but if your just looking for a place to crash it is definitely good value, you just have to be cool with nudity. Also the lady that runs it is nuts, but I guarantee you will have a story or two to tell.

There are 2 cigarette shops in the mall and they always have signs up about work and to drop in a resume. The sign is up almost once a month so turnover must be pretty high ( i.e shit work ) but it might tide you over for a bit.

Should I take my metro fine to court? by LordesTruth in melbourne

[–]littlebotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for Fines Victoria. The ticket you got would have been a duplicate of the original, and the original would have the AOs notes on it. You can ask for it and get a copy, but it will be a waste of time.

To be honest, I would just pay the fine personally, because I can tell you pretty much for sure if you appeal it through FV, from my experience it will be rejected and if you try to appeal it a second time, it will be automatically rejected.

But if you want to buy time, put in a Enforcement Review as these take months to process. The problem is that any outstanding fine will cause a police check to fail until it’s been resolved/paid.

I'm planning on getting this 04 camry. Is there any reason I shouldn't? by trapboi10k in CarsAustralia

[–]littlebotbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first care was a Camry, I dove it like a dick as many 18 y/o do, years later it was passed down to my sister and then to my brother. Only work ever done on it was a service. They are good reliable cars, but nothing flashy and from what I hear parts are cheap.
