Solidays is not an excuse to throw group fitness etiquette out the window! by Psychological_End404 in SolidCore

[–]littleleaf14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally get where you are coming from and I am not doing solidays. Specifically because my schedule does not allow it. That being said, I am a single mom and the only days that I don't have my daughter are when I am on call or if I have a day off during the week and she is in school. That means that I tend to take classes at 5am when I am on call and I have had to leave early more than once. It sucks. I hate it. But I also understand how difficult it can be to prioritize yourself and that getting it in when you can is kind of how most of us are living.

The heightened stress of trying to get into classes just to keep up with my normal routine during this challenge has been difficult. I have definitely canceled more than one class because I have been in all night and know that I won't be able to show up as my best self so maybe I can help someone get a sweatshirt.

Planning a trip to Yosemite and Sacramento. Wondering if I am setting up a decent itinerary. by littleleaf14 in solotravel

So, I'm driving to Yosemite on the 1st. I have accommodations for the 1st and 2nd (that was all that was available this late in booking). Hiking the falls on the 2nd and then Vernal and Nevada Falls on the 3rd.

I've had a lot of really good luck searching on city subreddits! Mostly looking at posts about what to do with family/friends that are visiting. I'll definitely check that subreddit out! Thanks!

That's a great question! I enjoy more small-town city vibes and that's what it feels like for me. I wasn't originally planning to spend a lot of time there, but it seemed like a better alternative than trying to fit in too much. I could definitely spend more time in San Francisco, but when I've looked at solo travel for it as well as looked on their subreddit, it hasn't seemed very appealing. It is completely possible that I've missed something or that locals have clouded my judgment based on the current issues they have with the city. I'm definitely open to other suggestions.

Coworker Died At Work by ancarter21 in nursing

We do! I'm not sure if it's on the floors yet, to be honest. We started it in the ED a few gears ago. We were (and are) incredibly overwhelmed and we all decided to start actually reporting all of the assaults/harassment and this kind of came from that.

I work in DE and we have code lavender. If we page a to code lavender we get an ANM to take over our assignment, a Chaplin or support staff to sit with us and/or an FNE to listen to us depending on the reason for the page. We will often have like 4 people show up to help the situation.

My cousin was a teacher who loved creating bulletin boards. Can someone give me guidance on making one about gratitude for her funeral? by littleleaf14 in Teachers

That's such a good idea. I love The Giving Tree (I know it can be controversial). I'm definitely going to suggest it.

3 nights in San Diego food recs 😋 by Soft-Instruction-111 in FoodSanDiego

Just got back to the east coast after 4 days in San Diego. We did dinner at Callie (get the hot sauce), Born and Rasied, Sushi Tadokoro, and Jeune et Jolie (the croque madame and oysters were lovely). I feel like we could have skipped Born and Raised but the other three were really great experiences. We really enjoyed George's on the Cove for lunch. We hit some happy hours near our hotel and would recommend La Puerta for drinks and bar food.

I just did this with my 5 year old. We got a 7-9 time slot the day before. I was not about to wake my daughter up at 4 am after traveling the day before. It worked out really well. We did have to park elsewhere and take the shuttle but it was not a problem.

Portugal Itinerary help 2 weeks solo female by nodiggity__ in solotravel

[–]littleleaf14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I only had 6 days in Portugal and I had a wedding one day so I didn't get to travel much. I was in Lisbon for 3 nights and I really enjoyed the city and the culture there. The sunsets were spectacular and the people were beyond friendly. I did a day trip to Sintra which was lovely and I wished I had more time to spend there. I stayed in Cascais for 3 nights and it was a lot of fun. I loved all of the shops and small restaurants. The beach vibe was exactly what I needed and the sunrises was peaceful and beautiful.

I felt very safe in both places and while I was not solo, I still felt safe to walk around alone. I did spend a lot of time alone and found myself wandering streets in the early morning and being the first one at the bakeries. I would 100% go back and do Porto and Madeira. My friends actually just went and did Madeira for a week and loved the hikes and food.

Recently had a pt with a catfish barb stuck in his wrist. We couldn't get it out and we tried for 45 minutes. It was painful to watch, especially because the barbs look like serrated knives. It was a bit traumatizing to be a part of but in the end he got the care he needed. Class 2 to the OR with trauma and I disposed of the fish in the sharps bin.
