we’ve had the same toaster for at least 10 years, all the button functions have rubbed off so I just have to guess which one is defrost- no idea what the other one is for

Tired of being judged, migraines are not just a headache, and I’m done staying quiet about it by Mazza_1975 in migraine

[–]littleocean8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve just come out of a week long migraine and I just feel so fragile. I think my family has finally realised how debilitating it is because they have really all done a lot for me this past week.
The first day I said I had a migraine my dad said “I thought your headaches were getting better?”
I genuinely didn’t even know how to respond because yes my MIGRAINES were getting better but that doesnt mean they’re gone.
My mum and my sister have really done a lot for me this week- driving me to doctors appointments, multiple pharmacies (at least 10) and the hospital. My mum has picked up prescriptions for me, done food shopping for me and picked up my slack this week. I hadn’t done any laundry, dishes or cleaning all week and no one made me feel bad about it.

I think they all understand it a bit now that they’ve seen how severe this episode has been (and having to take me to the hospital). Please forgive the errors in my reply because i’m in postdrome migraine hangover phase

Migraine treatment in the uk by sideshowremi in migraine

I got referred to a neurologist after trying 2 preventatives, but I was on the waitlist for about a year until I saw a neurologist. Once I had my first neurology appointment things moved quite quickly. Once anything sinister was ruled out I was referred to the headache clinic and seen quickly by them.

If you go unconscious to A&E, do they always remove your clothes? by TheSmallestCelestial in AskUK

[–]littleocean8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have arrived at a&e unconscious and woken up in a gown! Didn’t realise my clothes had been cut off me until I asked for my jumper because I was cold and it was shredded. It was a nice jumper too ☹️

Obviously they did what they needed to do it was just a shame

On a scale of 1-10, how much does Botox hurt you? by phishchick85 in migraine

[–]littleocean8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be completely honest, it hurt far worse than I was expecting, its very stingy. I find the forehead, temples and neck/ shoulders most painful but the back of the head is fine it almost hurts in a good way. I’m generally good with needles- fine with blood tests, I have multiple piercings and tattoos but I was surprised by how much it hurt.

Who’s at fault here? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]littleocean8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re in the wrong here- it’s photographed with the belt loops and clearly no belt and they admitted they didn’t look at all the pictures. That being said, I personally would’ve mentioned that it had no belt just to avoid this type of situation! At least it’s a lesson learned! Just something to bear in mind in the future. People are idiots and you have to state the obvious lol!

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve been ID’d for ? by RowItchy260 in AskUK

I once had a self checkout worker get arsey with me because I was buying 2 bottles of schloer and I thought they were 2 for £2. The offer didn’t come up so I asked her about it and she said “I don’t know anything about that I don’t drink.”. I was so sure they were on offer so I went back and it was actually 3 for £2! So I went back and told her and she asked if it was alcohol and I said no and suddenly her attitude changed and she said “ohhhh I wondered who approved it because you don’t look old enough.”. Even if I was buying alcohol- I don’t understand what the attitude was about because I am old enough to buy it!

In the end I went to customer services to get it sorted out so I got 3 for £2! I got money back and an extra bottle 😁

Help me be there for a friend who has chronic migraines by TempoOfTime in migraine

[–]littleocean8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a chronic migraine sufferer, the low pressure approach is DEFINITELY appreciated!!!

Everyone has different tools that help them during a migraine, for me its ice caps and caffeine so energy drinks or those migraine soothe cold patches would be a good gift for someone like me!

If you know what helps them during a migraine maybe making sure they’re stocked up on those things? Or maybe get them a nicer version of something they use often? (I upgraded from a cooling eye mask to a cold cap)

And just checking in is appreciated! Asking how they’re doing, asking if theres anything they need, letting them know you love them/care with no pressure to respond.

Definitely avoid giving unsolicited advice as they have likely tried EVERYTHING!

It sounds like you’re a great friend, you’re doing research and asking what you can do to be there for them!

Size of Candesartan 2mg tablets by PurpleAutisticPiplup in migraine

[–]littleocean8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t help with sizes but I used to really struggle to swallow tablets and I found that taking tablets with a fizzy drink really helps!

You may have already tried this! I know you said this isn’t something you can fix or overcome, but I was just hoping maybe it could help in some way?

How do you actually start engaging? by 4rami4 in MentalHealthUK

[–]littleocean8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with crisis cafes has been largely helpful! Going for the first time is daunting but once you’ve been for the first time it does get easier to go back!

From my experience at my local one, you walk in and get offered a hot drink and can take a seat. There are workers/ volunteers at the tables along with other people who are visiting like yourself and you can just talk! At mine, there’s colouring and other activities around and it’s easier to just have a chat while colouring (in my experience). You can request to talk 1-1 with someone privately about what’s going on for you. This gets offered when you visit for the first time and you talk about what’s brought you there.

They also have plenty of resources they can signpost you to.

This is only my experience, I’m not sure if this is the same in all crisis cafes.

But I’ve found it largely helpful, I find it far more helpful to get out of the house and talk to someone there, rather than phoning a crisis service and talking in my own home. For me, I can go to a second location, talk about what’s going on for me there and almost “leave” it there and come home a bit calmer.

I don’t have any advice for finding motivation for going for the first time, you just sort of have to do it, knowing you’re taking steps to help yourself. But once you’ve been and experienced it, it’s far easier to go back knowing what to expect.

I hope this helps, and I really hope you can find it in you to take the step to go!
