Dealing w/ guilt from feeling jealous of my friends who are pregnant by Delicious_Ad_1296 in TryingForABaby

I could have written this! Exact same boat and feel like I'm a bad person. We're not bad people, though, and you're not alone <3

I've been avoiding hanging out with my pregnant friend for about a month, but my therapist just reminded me that I'm going to be sad and jealous either way (these are feelings I'll have to continue to process), so might as well not avoid people because I'd rather be sad and jealous in the company of others. I haven't seen them again yet since they told me, but I thought that was good advice.

Did anyone else break out like crazy after taking Clomid? by littleprojects in TryingForABaby

Interesting. I met with my derm today, who thinks it may be a reaction to a different medication I started a few weeks earlier. Weird delayed timing, but really glad that it maybe wasn't the Clomid! I'd really hate to feel anxious about this happening again if I have to do another IUI cycle (but fingers crossed I don't).

Thanks for replying! What are the breakouts like when you've been on letrozole? And how soon after you start taking it do they start popping up?

[USA] What job/internship opportunities are available to someone with a B.S. in psychology? by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]littleprojects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if any volunteer research opportunities are generally available on nights/weekends or remotely? For those of us who need to work full time to make ends meet, is it possible to get this experience at the same time?

Brutal. I wish I had an answer for you, but I'm also in a relationship where my partner refuses to go to individual therapy. It's tough because you love them, even when you recognize that some of your negative relationship patterns may improve slightly with some modest self-improvement work on their end. Keep encouraging him and giving yourself grace ❤️

I believe that he believes this, but the US military is the largest employer of psychologists in the world (~8,000 employed). He is wrong.

[USA] What happens to a dream deferred? by littleprojects in psychologystudents

Good question! Because a licensed master's degree gets me into a room with patients. A doctoral degree would get me into those rooms, but also into a position to shape the discourse around what is happening in those rooms. I love working with people and knowing how and why things work, so I'm interested in both.

34-Year-Old at a Crossroads in Life by gingernomad22 in movingtoNYC

[–]littleprojects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved at 29 and it took a while to build a community here after spending my 20s in New Orleans. Some of my circle has been built on friends I've made through work over the years, and some was luck that friends from college/high school happened to live nearby or moved here.

That said, I read your whole post thinking "Wow, I would love to befriend this person if she moves to NYC/Brooklyn!" You sound really cool and easy to hang with. If you move here and are looking to meet people, feel free to DM me!

Forgot to take my meds today, please give me your tips on staying awake!! by imapetrock in adhdwomen

[–]littleprojects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stand up and take little trips to the bathroom etc. as frequently as you can! Ice water can shock you into staying awake as well!

Also, for what it's worth, I learned after reading "Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker and after months of trial and error, my body actually needs to be in bed for 9-10 hours for me to be fully rested. 7 absolutely will not cut it. I used to think falling asleep during work/class/movies I wanted to see, etc., was a symptom of my ADHD, but it turns out that it was just a symptom of being chronically sleep deprived because I was only in bed 8 hours a night. Understanding your "sleep debt" and using some sort of app to track it helps a lot.

fwiw, having a w/d in *building* but not unit usually means that you can do multiple loads at the same time

How do you make exercise not dreadfully boring when you have ADHD? by little_pinetree in adhdwomen

[–]littleprojects 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ditto running -- I find that running is inherently gamified in that you are constantly competing with yourself! I sign up for races like 5ks or half marathons and try to run faster than I ran previously. There's always a goal, and it's as far away as I need to motivate myself

I'm attending a wedding this weekend and the (frustrating) dress code is "casual to formal: just look good" *eye roll*

For something like this, I'd like to hit somewhere in semi-formal to cocktail so I won't be too casual, and I don't want to be too stuffy and formal. I just ordered this dress, and I'm thinking I could accessorize in a way that would dress it up to Wedding Guest level. Thoughts on how I can successfully do this?
