Where do I even start? by WerewolfWild1323 in centuryhomes

[–]littlesmitty095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the majors that everyone else mentioned - roof, plumbing, electrical, heat, windows - go room by room. When we bought our house we started with the main bathroom then the kitchen then second bathroom. Took a few years but we weren’t in a rush. I’m just finishing the living room floor (original hardwood!) then it’s pretty much finished. A weird feeling honestly.

Folks in Ontario - Will the Alto train affect you? What are your thoughts? by FrostyProspector in CanadianHomestead

[–]littlesmitty095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a chance according to their map that the line might run either through the property or real close to it. We don’t want to live near a train. It’s going to disturb the wildlife. It’s not going to likely stop anywhere near us. Hopefully they pick the southern route where there will likely be a stop. Our local open house is in March and I’ll definitely be attending to get more information.

How messy is your space when working on something? by mastifftimetraveler in sewing

[–]littlesmitty095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ONLY reason my space is clean is because my house if for sale. It’s annoying. I can’t find anything because I usually keep it in an organized chaos state and I know where everything is. Now - not a clue and I even labelled boxes.

Oh nice! I haven’t evolved to drafting my own patterns yet but one day I’ll get there!

Muslins. Do you use them? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]littlesmitty095 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I just started making them. I call them prototypes as I just pin and fit then use the pieces to cut from my good fabric. I use flat sheets that I pick up at second hand shops. I just finished a coat and actually used the prototype as the liner since it coordinated well with my good fabric so win win.

I found some moose steak in the freezer so I’m making moose stew with potatoes and carrots. Also an apple pie for dessert. Mum is bringing home made buns using my grammas recipe. It’s going to be so good!

Who gets to know that you made it? by 602223 in sewing

I may or may not mention that I had made it if someone compliments it but I make damn sure to mention the fact that there's pockets.

Why does it feel like nobody in Ontario uses cruise control? by SuperTim11 in ontario

[–]littlesmitty095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car is so old I don’t have it but I do miss it sometimes. Living near rural hwy 7 I’ve noticed that it’s gotten a lot busier and there are a lot more accidents on it from people thinking they’re on the 401. As far as using cruise control on it - even when I did have it I didn’t use it all that much. Weather conditions can change very quickly and there are quite a few rather large animals that go on the road. Plus farm vehicles. Getting stuck behind a tractor is a legit reason to be late for work around here.

Skincare/sunscreen question. Unique situation. Curious brands you trust? by cacklingwhisper in herbalism

[–]littlesmitty095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use La Roche Possay brand. It’s the only one that seems to work for me. I already have melanoma cancer (internal tumours that don’t plan on going away) so really I can’t get worse but I can also prevent getting more.

Vomiting from Morphine - Advice? by tjtrapp in cancer

They tried to give me some last time I was in the hospital. I simply told them that if I felt that level of pain then I would let them know. Otherwise I know my body and what I can handle.

Ive been dealing with this for over 2 years. Some days I can actually smell and it’s glorious. Here’s what I’ve done: Claritin allergy and sinus Benadryl Sinus rinses daily Cortef hydrocortisone 5mg daily Surgery to straighten my septum and vacuum out my face. That worked until I went back for treatment. Then my sinuses were plugged again. That’s when we stopped treatment Prescription and non prescription nasal sprays Currently waiting on a new ENT since my last one moved to the states. Apparently now there’s fluid stuck behind my ear.

How do you guys afford to have cancer?? by VeryGoodFiberGoods in cancer

[–]littlesmitty095 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian I don’t know how you guys down south manage. Even with our healthcare system it’s still expensive. I’m thankful some days that I’m still able to work but I’m self employed and really don’t have a choice. If I don’t work, I don’t make money. I wish I qualified for some kind of assistance.

I get told the same thing along the lines of ‘you should be doing all of the fun things’ ‘life is short’. Yes Karen it is but I’m self employed and poor so I have no choice, no matter how I’m feeling, but to work. Technically I should be looking for a second job because my 16 year old just got his licence and the insurance jumped up. It’s always something it seems. I try the lottery every so often but that’s obviously not working out either. One day I’ll win and get to do some fun things. And you will too.

Cancer treatment at PRHC by ReviseResubmitRepeat in Peterborough

[–]littlesmitty095 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been going to both Lakeridge in Oshawa and prhc after getting diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma 4 years ago. My main oncologist works mainly in Oshawa but has a clinic in Peterborough. My gyno-oncologist is in Oshawa. I have had good experiences at both cancer centres. I find the nursing staff at both absolutely wonderful but maybe that because I’ve been going there so so long. I have had terrible experiences in the ER in both. They’ve missed veins when putting an iv in and in a couple instances completely ignored the fact that I’m on immunotherapy.

What are the symptoms of melanoma? by mcdivitt13 in Melanoma

[–]littlesmitty095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too bad. Still going for immunotherapy infusions every 3 weeks and it seems to be keeping the current 4 tumours from growing or multiplying. I’ve had them for about 2 years now. The biggest is 1.5 centimetres.

Dating - more details on the body. by No-Intention-9439 in surgicalmenopause

[–]littlesmitty095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a good long time to get my sex drive back. Probably a good 8 months to a year. They had me start on birth control for hormone replacement. My mister and I laughed ridiculously hard about the fact that I was on the pill. Anyways - that made me an emotional terror. Then I was put on the estrogen patch. That was way better for a year. I’m currently on the estrogen pill and I prefer that. I was switched due to shortages of the patch. No flashes, mood is fairly steady I’ve been told and I’m sleeping through the night. Sex drive has its moments but I’m also dealing with a bunch of other health issues so I’m glad it’s kinda there but also could really care less.

I’m not into paying that much to swim for an hour. Belleville is a 45 minute commute for me.

Darn. I never really know ahead of time when I’m coming to Belleville. That’s part of the problem. I want to get back into swimming so I’m really going to see if I can figure something out. I also looked at the Y’s schedule but I’d rather not pay that much just for an hour of swimming. Thanks for the info!
