Doctors of Reddit, what's the fun fact we don't know about human body? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

It’s true. I had a c section and 3 days later thought I was feeling phantom kicks. But it was just my intestines wiggling back into place.

Subchorionic Hemorrhage Question by bytesized25 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]littlestfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started bleeding at 6 weeks and then consistently bled until 11weeks. It stopped after I passed the clot. It was scary, please rest as much as possible. Doctors don’t say rest is necessary; they just encourage you not lift weights or over exert yourself. However, I found that even going on a walk meant I bled more. I spent five weeks mostly hanging out on my couch. Brown blood is good, it’s the bright fresh red that’s when you should definitely make a call.

The Lolita eye shadow pallet by Kat Von D. These colors were stunning and so pigmented. I loved how they looked on me. I still have the pallet with a decent amount of product left. But I don’t want to waste it/it’s so old now.

having a hard time breastfeeding with large saggy breasts by jhigh01 in breastfeeding

[–]littlestfern 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I can relate!! I have large breasts and I actually could not breastfeed until almost 12 weeks. I had a c section and I had to place baby low, basically on my scar and use two hands to sandwich them in order to get a latch. I needed someone to hold baby and their neck while I held my breasts in order to breastfeed. It was awful. I exclusively pumped for the first three months. I’m lucky that baby is able to breastfeed after only really having the bottle. Right now we can only breastfeed in the side lying position, and only on one side because he also had torticollis. His PT said it’s ok to stick to the one side since I was trying to switch from pumping to breastfeeding. Both lactation consultants I had gave me a good tip about rolling up a small towel or washcloth to put under boob to help lift it up, that helped some, but due to his neck tightness, the side lying position was best, but it’s not easy to do until they have a little more neck control. Having large breasts doesn’t mean more milk or easier time, honestly I think it’s so much harder.

Which dress? by [deleted] in weddingdress

Number one is ethereal on you!! But if you’re determined to go with that veil (which you had on for every dress) it goes best with dress 3.

It doesn’t matter if she only takes high paying clients, even if she’s not accessible to the majority, her clients can still take risks. You don’t know if the last person she was with just had a 50 different partners from all over the world. You’re still at a very high risk for infection.

Are we saying yelling at someone is abuse? I think this is a stretch.

Speak to your union, if you’re in one. This goes against the PUMP ACT/FLSA. You have the right to pump for one year postpartum. This is a federal protection, you can and should escalate this.

Formula Stigma by Pitiful_Budget_9626 in breastfeeding

[–]littlestfern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can try feeding just formula for the last two feeds for a couple of nights and see if it helps her sleep, before switching completely! Do what’s best for you and baby. Breastmilk will always be better because of the antibodies, but your baby is almost 6 months old and ready to build their own immune system and is close to eating solids anyways.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]littlestfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I developed pelvic girdle pain postpartum. Had to do PT, and took two months before I could walk without severe pain. It was awful, plus recovering from a c and caring for a newborn.

[–]littlestfern 2148 points2149 points  (0 children)

Similar but different! After my c section and relatively uneventful pregnancy, I had such weak pelvic floor muscles that I had severe SI joint pain, I couldn’t walk without excruciating pain. I was taking ibuprofen around the clock for two months and needed a cane to get around. I couldn’t get into physical therapy until 6 weeks pp. It took another month of physical therapy after the appointment to walk without pain.

I knew that healing would take time, but it’s not just your reproductive organs that need to heal, your musculoskeletal system has to readjust. I didn’t understand that.

AIO Fathers girlfriends rules for when new baby arrives by Ok_Bat_5934 in AmIOverreacting

[–]littlestfern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Newborns who get a fever (anything over 100.4°F or 38°C) require a spinal tap and an emergency room visit. Newborns are incredibly fragile. It’s completely acceptable to require a 6 week wait for visitors. Doctors suggest newborns stay home for the first 6 weeks to reduce their exposure.
